I'm not as clued up on anatomy, biology and nutrition as I'd like to be but I do feel I can add a sentence or 2 on this. I've been watching a series about bariatric surgery on morbidly obese patients and in the 2 weeks prior to the operation, and after losing a set amount of weight, the patients are given a vlc diet of…

@AnnPT77 @Kalex1975 @smoofinator @MikePTY @apullum I highly doubt the 5 second rule eliminates any bacteria and I'm not certain it sterilises the food either. I wouldn't salvage anything sticky or fluffy. Obvs  I agree with you Ann, I survived playing outdoors when I was a child. I grew up on a traditional dairy…

Haha I did the 5 second rule in work a few weeks ago and stood back up to see horrified faces. Mightn't have been so bad if I hadn't said it out loud. Errr I've got 5 seconds to put it in the bin ....

Brilliant. I'm often asked if I'm 'carbing down'? And do I feel guilty when I have a naughty snack? Arrrgggghhhh I'm eating clean in that I wash fruit and veggies before I eat them

This is such a personal subject that it's always going to bring emotions to the top and may be the reason the thread got snippy quite quickly. I wasn't going to comment but I changed my mind  I have a 19 yo daughter and 20 yo son and over the last 6-8 years I've seen my fair share of them trying to keep up with the…

@Ogtmama & @OooohToast its the same for me. I found I was eating breakfast purely because it was breakfast time and not because I was hungry. But then it was like I'd kicked my hunger in the balls and it was fighting back. IF has helped me realise when I'm hungry and not just thirsty, bored, emotional etc. I'll eat…

Well done on the weight loss. You already asked this question on 18th April - https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/43613210#Comment_43613210 I get you've lost weight and you're ready to build muscle but you lost weight by following a healthy WOE and working in a calorie deficit. You need to do the same…

I'm a serial MFP yoyo'er but this time I'm committed (56 days ) and I've wondered if I'd see this chart again. It's brilliant and should be the given answer to these type of posts.

Hi everyone I've missed so many posts and it feels nice to be back. You are braver than you believe Stronger than you seem Smarter than you think And loved more than you know  I took the weekend off :) It's really been a strange one. I've been eating home cooked food exclusively for about 10 weeks and on Friday I…

You can create a recipe and then portion it out. I do this all the time for stews, soups etc. I weight each ingredient as normal, cook and then depending on the final dish I’ll either weigh it or make portions. Soups etc are easier to weigh and I often batch cook separate portions of a dish to freeze. When you recreate the…

I haven’t worn a dress since my wedding but maybe the new me will like dresses  thanks for the fab idea.

This is something I’m not looking forward to. I’m only 22lb into a 100+lb loss and it’s going to take me a long time so I know I’ll be in each size for a while. I know I’ll be happy about being in a smaller size but not being able to afford nice new clothing will be tough. I’m already looking at skipping the next size down…

Fab question and I love the answers. I've got a few too: 1. MFP for the food diary, for this amazing forum and the support is fantastic 2. Husband (2nd ) for joining me even though he doesn't need to lose weight. For not letting me be off track 3. My Wiifit and balance board which my daughter calls retro :hushed:…

I know exactly how you feel cos I felt the same. Being physically disabled and being in the gym just doesn’t feel right together. But you know what? The gym is exactly where a lot of physically disabled people are. Most people either won’t notice you or if they do it’ll be cos they haven’t seen you before. Maybe even think…

Does your friend eat 800-1000 cals per day and are they healthy? It’s a shame a friend would think this would help you. Well done for backing out.
-
Your BMR for age, height and weight is 2171 cals/day and 2605 cals/day for sedentary so having 1500-1600 cals/day isn’t healthy. As you’re measuring most of your food instead of weighing then you have to factor in the errors in your logging calories. Instead of guessing these why don’t you weigh all your foods (measure…

@PackerFanInGB I’m sending positivity your way too. Neuroscience is a major force in the NHS and my local neuro hospital is an NHS Centre of Excellence so I’m sure they have others too. Not sure where you are in UK but hopefully shouldn’t be too from one. Good luck xx

I know I can be a bit blunt sometimes but I genuinely thought this post was purely for the reaction :smirk: and it worked.
