I've been getting more and more active recently. I try to write at least one little update every day. I have no problem with friends who don't comment  Feel free to send me a request!

Thanks, I'll give that a try!

I just got a fitbit last night. I was having issues at first too, I just assumed it was because I was still figuring out how to use it. Now it's giving me extra calories to eat every time i walk to the bathroom. Not sure I like that, I only eat back workout cals, not cals from just walking around the house in my usual…

Sometimes people are battling an eating disorder, and the tough love "get over it" attitude is only going to make things worse. Like sheepotato said, there are more constructive responses which will help much more than just "get over it". If you have never experienced ED, or been close to someone who has, then it might be…

I can relate. My husband has been fit his whole life, and not just slim, but fit. He was a track and field athlete in college, and has kept most of his physique even though he doesn't train anymore due to an injury. He regularly eats the sweets and treats that will put 10 lbs on me within a couple of weeks if I let myself…

Thank you lorib642 I am doing much better mentally, and physically. I have seen a very negative reaction to the Dr. B diet on these boards, so I was very hesitant posting my experience, but I was very sad to see that OP had such a misguided view of this diet.

I have done Dr. Bernstein in the past. It is no more a diabetic diet than weight watchers, or using MFP. It can be tailored to diabetics just like any other diet. It is not low cal high fat... it is low cal, low fat, low carb, and it is also not no exercise. They suggest light exercise, but not going overboard because of…

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah, I'm here and active, don't have an open diary because I don't use it much. I track the old fashioned way with a pen and paper :) I log on almost every day though to read the forums, and keep updated with people who have added me.

I'm 28, and have well over 100 lbs to loose. I started out about 6 years ago at around 400 lbs, I have yo-yo'd since then and am trying to get down to under 200. Once I'm under 200 I'll reassess where I want to stop.

Congrats! What an awesome achievement! BTW: if you got that bike from craigslist, I think I was looking at the same one LOL Enjoy!

I got a bad one too last week, so bad it was blistering up a LOT. Honey I've found works best for really severe sunburns when it's still fresh. After a while when it starts to dry out I moisturize with coconut oil.

This is just what I do, and it works for me. Just take it one meal at a time, start with breakfast. I want pancakes smothered in butter and maple syrup and candied pecans, what I will have is oatmeal with a couple tsp maple syrup, toasted pecans (not candied) and sliced banana. Done? Good! One meal down! I keep going like…

:flowerforyou: Agreed!

I would try to avoid using the word "diet" since people associate this work with temporary fad diets which are usually quite restrictive and often don't work, or if they do they often don't work long-term. This is a lifestyle, this is not going to end once you reach your goal, and this isn't going to be the last…

If you are eating according to the Sunnah (light... remember we're fasting not feasting) then it should be accurate. If you're eating until you're full at iftar and suhoor then no, it probably won't be accurate. My weight is quite accurate, I drop about 1 lbs/week when not fasting and about 1-2 during fasting, then after…

Thank you everyone for your input! She has spoken to her doctor, I'm not sure if her doctor is a liver specialist though, so I will mention that to her, and also advice her to see a dietitian if possible. She has been advised by her doctor to eat as much healthy fat as possible to try and gain weight (olive oil, nuts,…

I've lost 120lbs, have about 100lbs more to go, and I already have excess skin. I'm in my 20s, and in my personal experience (keeping in mind that every body is different and what applies to me may not apply to you) with the amount of weight I have lost and need to loose, I don't think my youth is going to be able to make…

Pretty much what everyone else has been saying. Log it all, keep consistency. Right now since I'm doing a religious fast (abstaining from food or drink {along with some other things} from sunrise till sunset basically) my first meal of the day is around 9pm, then a snack around 1am, then my last meal is around 3:15am. So…

I don't know too much about the science of it, but I fast for 30 days every year for the month of Ramadan. Here's what I've noticed: I loose a bit of weight, but not much more than when I'm watching my calories outside of Ramadan. I do not gain weight after the month is over by gorging on food. I tend to make healthier…

Thanks! Hmm... maybe I won't put them in my water if they're peppery, I shall google recipes!

I always wear cotton leggings under my dresses/skirts. The cotton makes it breathable so I don't get too hot, and it puts some fabric there so my thighs don't get sore, also they cover my legs in case the wind blows my skirt up, or in case it gets caught in something and pulls up.

For me I step on the scale after my late morning nap, usually around 2pm. I'm on the west coast of Canada so our fasting is from about 3:30am - 9pmish I think as long as you are fairly consistent with the time it shouldn't matter too much insha Allah.

Are you sure you need one? When I went from Vancouver to North Africa and back I was about 290 or so, and didn't need one on any of the flights (only 2 flights to get there, but 3 or 4 coming back, can't remember for sure). All of the seat belts fit me, even with a bit of room for adjustment. :) Even when I was about 380 I…

I have four step-kids ranging in ages from 8 - 18 (When I met them it was 4 - 14). They get treats every now and again, but the bulk of their food is healthy. I think what OP may be observing is people taking their kids out to restaurants and getting the kids "unhealthy" meals. Well, if these parents take their kids to a…

I'm devastated to hear that, there's not much I can say to make you feel any better, but here's my advice, feel free to take it or leave it. If you believe in God, through whatever religion it may be, turn to God right now, pray for patience, and pray for peace in your heart. If you don't believe in God turn to whatever…

I'm on the fence about this one. Half of me is saying "don't push your diet on other people" The other half is saying "Why not teach your son about healthy eating while you're trying to eat healthy too?" I certainly wish my mum had said "no" a few more times when I asked for cake! I think the later is winning over for me,…

Yep, keep it easy while you're in pain, but once the swelling goes down and it passes in a few days or weeks (depending on how bad it is), like the comments above swimming is good, laying on your back is good, even just a nice walk. Again, your PT will be able to give you some ideas of exercises you can do, and help you…
