  • You can do this.....for yourself! Join one of the groups on MFP to have some social interaction without having to face anyone in person until you feel ready. If you have had counseling for social anxiety you are aware that is is something you CAN deal with when you have to. I worry that you need alcohol to get through....I…
  • If you are using a Weight Watcher brand scale, it won't show any movement until your weight changes at least 2 pounds.....I found this out the hard way...try holding something heavy and getting on your scale. Then get off, put down the item, and weigh just yourself.
  • I was amazed when I found out that ground turkey has more calories than the leanest 96/4 ground beef, so I went back to using ground beef in my tacos!
  • I was on 1200, and got frustrated and kept getting stuck. Upped my cals to 1300 and started losing at a steady (not really fast, but steady) rate - about 1.5 lbs per week.
  • We have ALL had setbacks along the way. In fact, sometimes it helps to shake up your metabolism by having an "off" day (or a day off, if you prefer). Best to only weigh once a week, and remember that water retention can affect your recorded weight, while you may still have lost fat pounds. If you are staying within your calorie goals, the weight will come off....some weeks are just tougher than…
  • I'm 5' 9" and 57 y.o. My goal in younger years was always around 145, now I'd like to reach 160. I guess the perspective changes when you get older maybe?
  • Could be the time of month....causes water retention. Also, have you been working out, or just doing calorie counting? Sometimes your body needs a kick-start to burn what you take in and then some. Also, try not to keep eating the same meals every day. Sometimes even if your calories are the same, you need to be getting…
  • I read a suggestion last week that makes a lot of sense to me....shake up the daily calorie intake level. Go 1200 one day, 1600 the next, 1350....and so on. Your body needs to be fooled a little so it will start burning the cals again. Haven't tried it yet, but it makes a lot of sense when you consider if you stay at the…
  • Lisa, For each of us losing weight is a journey, and even though you don't have a buddy close by, you are definitely not alone. Your accomplishment of losing 46 pounds without outside support speaks greatly of your determination. Keep it up! This site will give you as much support as you want to take from it. I have found…
