I totally sympathise with you. At 4ft 11ins I struggle to lose weight on a 1200 calorie per day diet. I'm 65 y.o which also makes it harder. All those tables that quote a 500 calorie deficit per day are obviously not taking ino account that there are 'shorties' out there. I'm following a keto diet at the moment, on which I…

Hi folks, I live in the sunshine island of Cyprus. The first chill of autumn is in the air and it's time to swap my swimmer for jeans (oops - definitely snug) - too much summer socialising, I'm afraid. I've just found this challenge - better late than never, so will just have to try harder to make up for lost time! My…

Well Done. Twenty pounds is a lot of weight ; if you want an idea of how much you've lost, try putting 20 x 14oz tins into a bag, and carry it around for a bit. Just think - your poor body was having to drag all that extra weight around day in day out.. I've hit (again) the dreaded plateau but, (confession) I've been…

I'm so glad I was able to support. I've been thinking about you and hoping it's still going well. The posts are slowing down so it's not easy to know how everyone is doing. I've been a bit naughty this week - the mistake I made was to have chocolate in the house (not a good idea). Keep positive and take each day as it…

This has not been a good week. I've been going above my calorie allowance every day and I'm not very happy with myself. However, I'm still committed, and what are Monday mornings for, if not starting again. How is every one else doing?

We're half way there !!!!

I've had so many bad things happen in my life and the way I've learnt to cope is to find something positive even in the worst experience. And it works. If you can stay committed when there is so much going on in your life at present, then the positive is that you're strong, you can cope and you're focused. And most…

Hello everyone - I live in Lincolnshire and I've just found this group - am thrilled to discover that I'm not the only Brit whose registered on this site. I was feeling a bit lonely ! I've just turned sixty, but still have the energy and drive of someone half my age. I lost almost 30 lbs a couple of years ago, but gained…

I find I can eat healthily as long as my food is tasty. A salad with low calorie dressing leaves me cold. I tend to make my meals from scratch so can add herbs, spices etc to jazz it up. Tonight it's chicken, chorizo and prawn jambalaya, which I've bulked out with onions, sweet peppers and tinned tomatoes, and I've…

Wow, that's an impressive weight loss. I think I'll give it a go next week,. One of the plus points is that I can then adjust my calorie intake if I know I'm going out to dinner, without feeling I've blown all the hard work.

Good on you! You're an inspiration to us all.

My long term goal is to reach 125 lbs. I'm aiming to lose around 8 lbs during this challenge. That will leave me with just 8 lbs to go, maybe by the end of September. And when I reach 125 lbs, I'm going to make sure I stay there.

Thanks to all who supported me last week. All the positive feedback, hints and tips have helped me to focus and get back on track. One bad week is not worth undoing all the hard work of the past month. And the sun is shining again - hooray!

I put a lot of energy into each day and, like you, track everything, eat sensibly until after dinner. My brain then tells me that this is my 'relax for the rest of the day' time and I normally respond by sitting down with a cup of decaf and a 'treat'. However, like you, the treats were getting out of hand and I felt…

Be kind to yourself and listen to your body - it looks like it's telling you to take it a little easier, perhaps it's time to recharge your batteries.

It could have been me writing this post. Last week, for four days I was out in the garden from morning to early evening. Digging, weeding, moving soil, cutting trees. According to my exercise chart I used thousands of calories. I stuck to my 1200 a day, and have managed to lose a paltry half pound. Is it age, is it…

It didn't go as well as planned in spite of all my best intentions. We had friends around for a meal and of course I had to make a dessert! To compensate, I had no lunch, a very small portion of the starter and main, and no wine - just a glass of sugar-free juice. I stood on the scales this morning and, by some miracle,…

I've planned all my meals. Because it's great weather here in England we'reg going to bbq. I'm having very low calorie breakfasts and lunches and trying to save most of my calories so that I can indulge in a couple of yummy salads. Yesterday I put together a skinny Waldorf, which was delicious. Yesterday I spent around 2…

This is just the kick-start advice I needed. My weight has been up and down for years, and I'm confused with all the 'expert advice' out there. Plain and simple - eat less, move more, stay motivated. It's going to be a long haul with a few trip ups along the way, but it has to be done!!
