For myself I watch the total carbs and don't worry too much about sugar from whole fruits, but count from juice. The fructose is bound up with dietary fibre and is released more slowly so doesn't cause the "rapid insulin spike". This is why eating sugary fruits is better for your teeth than say a soda with the same sugar…

If you've got a food processor or a mandolin and a you could try this apple terrine. 20/30 min prep time and a few hours in the oven Core and peel 8-10 eating apples (3 oz 5 lb /1.5kg) and use processor to slice 1/16th" / 1.5 mm thick. You can use a knife if you have the skills. Melt 3 tbsp butter. Preheat oven to…

I do but perhaps it's because I live on my own. For example the other day I bought celery, cottage cheese, kiwi fruits, apples, grapefruit, tomatoes, brown bread, pre-packed turkey steaks (4 or 5) and a couple of venison steaks. I've been eating the same perishables for a couple of days. alternating between turkey and…

I had this tonight: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/tabbouleh_91782 Other recipes out there that use more bulgar wheat so you could try playing around with it. I ate the whole 4 servings (nom nom) with a grilled turkey steak and the whole meal was 614 cal and I'm stuffed!

Eat. You need at least 1200 cal a day to avoid "starvation mode" so if you burn 300 cal from exercise you need to eat at least 1500 cal. You'll soon find what works for you. Good luck x

Did you have cereal? Some are packed with sugar. Also about half the carbs in a banana come from sugar in the form of Fructose. Sugar is sugar and the body treats it the same way regardless of source. Fruits are still good alternatives to other snack foods as they contain vitamins and fibre but if you want to limit your…

I'd say when steaming the milk for a hot latte you create a foam which is less dense so less milk fills the same volume. Makes sense. Right now I could do iced

Just checked these guys out. They rock. Thanks!

I second this! They make really great spiced fritters too. Oh and you don't have to salt them anyomore because they have been bred to be less bitter

oh I forgot to say I often use them up by chopping them up, frying until soft then adding a few eggs to make an omlette. Nice with some cheese!

I look like I've taken a shower! Doesn't bother me so much. Just remember to wipe down the machines with a towel for the sake of everyone else!

black beans are black beans and often used in Mexican cooking. Chinese fermented black beans are soy beans turned black by the fermentation process. Sometimes they are referred to as black beans but they are different from above. Try an Asian super market or online.

Try growing a few herbs in a pot! Lots of fresh herbs also freeze well. I buy cilantro use what I need chop the rest and freeze it in ice cube trays with a little water. This works for garlic and chillis too. When you buy spices if you can get whole spices and grind them up, they keep fresher for a lot longer in the whole…
