  • Mine so far have been very symbolic and indicative of my health and are very location-specific on my body closest to where I was sick. Once I hit another goal, I was planning on getting another one that I had made some edits to the design...but I am not 100% sold on the idea yet (probably because I can't figure out a good…
  • We all feel your pain. I disagree with a few people on here saying you don't need to get high quality sports bras, but rather wear multiple lesser quality bras. As an adult, I've been anywhere from a DD to an H cup (at least that's what the Bra Whisperer in NYC told me, long story). Anywho, if you are going to be doing…
  • Well done! How exciting for you and what a great thing to have the energy enough afterwards to play softball! Keep up the great work and good luck on your future 10K!
  • I am a mustard freak, however my best condiment award would go to sambal oolek. Beats the pants off of anything else and I eat gobs of it even though it is HOT. I have thought many times about doing a blog here in ode of its awesomeness. *happy sigh*
  • I had seen the parodies on youtube before Ellen or SNL exploited it. It still cracks me up, but maybe that is the brilliance of it: it works arms AND abs! "Shakeweight" has now become risque lingo in my house, too.....hilarious.

  • I bought one after debating for a while. I haven't had it long, just a few weeks, but I can tell a difference in my arms. I am doing a lot of other exercises as well, so in addition to upper body strength training and push-ups, I am using the shakeweight at home. What I like about it is that it is a brief and easy to take…

  • Sounds amazing, I will def try this soon!
  • First of all, congratulations to you on setting this wonderful goal! I did my first 5K a few months ago and it was an incredible high that I just could not get enough of, and like you I had to train about 99% of it indoors due to the weather. Since you have had knee problems in the past, make sure you strengthen your quads…
  • I have my first violin recital next weekend and I've only been playing about 8 months....yikes! I've played piano for about 21 years and used to teach lessons to beginners as well. I used to play electric bass guitar in a rock band (also taught lessons, briefly). I am good at the flute yet despise the instrument. To kill…
  • Congrats! Mini-goals are definitely the way to go because they are attainable and realistic and puts you that much closer to the big picture goal. Keep up the fantastic work!
  • If you take it and feel like you have a guilty conscience, leave a note that says something like "Hey Barn Folks, I'm taking the bed frame because I don't want to see it turn to ash when the place gets bulldozed. If someone has an issue with this, feel free to contact me at 123-456-7890 or John Doe (legit number or name,…
  • On a sidenote, holy cow....the average American eats 23 pounds a pizza per year!?!?!?!?
  • What a cool thread, thanks for posting this! Looks like I am down one bale of hay! :) I hope to lose an elephant's penis by the end. Yes, I have always wanted to say that.
  • When I got engaged, my ring was my normal size of 6, then I had to get it resized up to a 7 when I got married. When I got to my largest weight, I couldn't get my wedding ring off for a year and my finger was probably about a size 6. It was so gross because I had to pick out the skin under my finger but couldn't get the…

  • I am loving some of the albums that have made the list by other people so far....and my considerations would be "Aha Shake Heartbreak" by Kings of Leon, "Revolver" by The Beatles, "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis, and "The Bends" by Radiohead. I would probably give a much different list if asked tomorrow.
  • He has no idea. The concept of "girl weight" is quite foreign to him. It's quite easy to guess the weight of a man (in my opinion), but near impossible to guess that of a woman since every woman weighs it differently. Just a few months ago we had a conversation which led to me saying "back when I was 200 pounds" and he was…
  • This probably won't go over well, but this is me: I'm trying to follow the 1,200 cals a day and most days it's not an issue. In fact, many days I don't make it to 1,200 and don't even get to tap into my exercise cals. Yesterday, for example, I took in about 1,000 cals and earned about 450 more from exercise, so really I…
  • I miss the anonymity a bit. I've always been top heavy, so when I gained weight my bottom just caught up to the top and it just wasn't the first thing people saw when I enter a room. Now I'm getting the looks again, and most times it's unwelcome. I just miss hiding a little bit of what I wanted to hide, and now when I try…
  • 1) Don't blindly start adapting the others unhealthy eating habits. (I did and gained 50 pounds in what seemed like a split second.) 2) Share a common joy, hobby, or passion. 3) Say I LOVE YOU every day (and mean it). 4) Learn to compromise with some things, but know when to stay strong with others. 5) It's not as easy as…
  • Well done! To know that you have maintained for one year is perhaps the most inspiring to me personally. I was a size 18 too and and looking to head into single digit territory in the next few months. I hope maybe in about a year and a few months, I can post a topic just like yours. Congrats on your accomplishments…
  • Recognizing failure is an example of not truly failing. If you really failed, you would have just given up, never signed back in to MFP again, and just said "to hell with it." You didn't do that, therefore you didn't really fail. You just had an obstacle, and you sure can move past that. Nothing to beat yourself up over…
  • Ok, call me silly......but I scanned through this and I kept thinking "who the heck is this Tom or Thomas guy that everybody keeps referring to?" Bahaha! I guess I have just never seen the acronymn for time of the month, but it makes sense. I can't contribute to this thread as I off that market in the meantime, but that's…
  • Good for you! I hit that mark a few weeks ago which of course sounds ridiculous if I were to verbalize that to anyone in my non MFP family, "Hurray, I'm finally overweight! Hell yeah, I'm no longer obsese!" I'm right there with you. ;) congrats and keep up the good work.
  • Nekkid! And to be consistent, do it at the same time of day each time weighing myself.
  • I've lost 47 pounds and over halfway there. Upping the frequency and intensity of exercise and really finding something you LOVE to do while burning calories is half the key. The other half of the key for me was paying attention to nutrition by logging food and just eating better quality food. Good luck!
  • ...I love seeing muslce tone in my quads again and more defined calves....just like in my college days.
  • A colleauge who second language is English looked at me and asked how I was, then asked what I was doing (kindly) and asked if I had a reduction (overall, not boobs I assume). He meant it complimentary, but it did come off as a bit odd and uncomfortable.
  • I don't really have any advice for you unfortunately, but I too have suffered from shin splints in the past. When I ran track in high school, I did have to sit out and rest for several of the meets and my trainer would ice my shins. Speaking from experience, I would say it is a good idea to rest the legs from strenuous…
  • I figured someone would mention them. I suppose I could stand to shake my groove thing to Will.I.am and crew.....thanks for the feedback. :)
  • Any of the classes I have taken, they do cardio first and end up with abs (then a cool down). Good luck!
