  • I started on MFP over a decade ago, lost 80 pounds and make some wonderful friendships…many that even transitioned into real life! I’ve gained the weight back and have new motivation, am counting my macros, and am relentless in the gym. Happy for more accountability for peeps on here, I’m an open book.
  • You are incredibly awesome, and your perseverance, attitude, and story are contagious and truly inspirational. I'm glad I found you on here cuz you're super nifty. I hope everyone can make positive changes to themselves as you have!!!
  • Best of luck with it!! Make sure to modify as your body sees fit because everyone is different and you don't want to hurt yourself by straining your body too much as it is a very intense program. Some parts you may have to ease into, but don't give up and just get pushing through it because it's a great program!
  • I've had this problem too, and the ones I settled on using are by a brand called Skullcandy (you can get them at Target). They come with different sized rubber fittings for your ears, so you can choose between three sizes for what fits you best. They are more cylindrical shaped rather than the flattened ipod earbud. I have…
  • Play on both teams, I just happen to be married to hetero dude. Open to all kinds of people, it's all good.
  • Duuuuuude! I didn't even bother reading your entire thread because 1) I was smacking myself in the forehead rather quickly after reading about your "dilemma" and 2) you need spell check and/or an editor like you think your pal needs to lose weight. I hate to sound harsh (nah, I like sounding harsh once in a while), but…
  • Thanks for your help, jrich1. I'll still try to tinker with this to figure out how I can modify the size to fit the thread and not continue to post empty links and threads with the faint hopes of correctly attached pictures!
  • Ugh, that's the before....
  • BEFORE (obviously) AFTER (During, technically)
  • Oh man that is like a cruel joke....I'm too wide to fit. Yikes.
  • Hopefully this works?!?! Crap. Picture too big. All you see is the before. GAH!
  • Dang it! Thought I had posted the pic....clearly not. Fickle technology..uno minuto, folks.
  • Good luck to you, those are great goals! I'm not from Dublin, but I hope to run through St. Stephens Green in a few months to continue to train for my 5K races when I visit Ireland again soon.
  • You lost a middle-schooler! You look so much younger, the transformation has been incredible! Good job and thanks for posting...you have done a very inspirational thing and lengthened your life. Someone deserves major props! WELL DONE!
  • If nothing else, you will be regular......
  • Welcome and good luck on your MFP journey! I think you will find this site incredibly useful, resourceful, and surprisingly inspirational when you least expect it! Slainte!
  • WELL DONE! I can see a huge difference already! And kudos to you for feeling brave enough to post pics. I thought of posting some progress pics but I'm not sure how confident I am in putting "it" all out there, so I clap madly for anyone like you who can (and looks fabulous, by the way...and to think you still have halfway…
  • 'Tis by Frank McCourt (sequel to Angela's Ashes).
  • Most excellent! I love that feeling when you know you have accomplished something you weren't sure you could do...and you did! A 5K is def somewhere in your future, just keep building stamina and strength!
  • This is really an issue of the mental/emotional not coming up to speed with the physical....and it's perfectly natural. In some ways you are still probably coming to terms with the new real you, and to know others in a public sphere are recognizing and appreciating can certainly be off-putting. Take it in stride, but take…
  • I am no help in helping calculate calories for that meal (sorry), but holy cow I am a drooling mess after looking at your picture....which is unfortunate because I just ate lunch and am not technically hungry, and I'm not wearing a waterproof top and all of this drool is becoming a bit bothersome. :noway:
  • What an amazing feat....I'm kinda speechless!!!
  • I've been doing kegels for 20 years. I still pee. :-P
  • Hurray, good for you! I love seeing progress, it's so motivating! I can't wait to be like your BEFORE picture though, lol!
  • I totally relate. My hubby and I both got to be at our heaviest at the time...which was ironically about 5 pounds of eachother (not so flattering for me as there is a 6 inch discrepancy in our height). He has always been of the frame of mind of "do what I want now, the rest doesn't matter." I totally succumbed to his…
  • I'm the girl who is always there and generally parks a bit crooked even if there is no one in the parking lot. I'm the one who takes subtle peeks at people on neighboring machines to see what pace or incline they are doing on the elliptical or treadmill, and try to do a bit better than them (as if it was a race, how much…
  • 10 pounds for me is generally a size, but of course it's different for everyone and there are no two women's bodies that are the same. You just have to keep plugging along and you will get there. Good luck!
  • Sign me up! Anyone who makes the word marriage of accountability and buddy is beyond awesome in my book. :glasses: I really like the idea of not only having to answer to the self, because the self can give a free pass to slide once in a while. I hope you can handle me...I can be a bit rough and relentless at times, but I…
  • "Runner's knee" is pretty common with people that have underdeveoloped quads. If you still have significant pain, I would certainly recommend getting it checked out. However, you may also have to do a lot of strengthening of your legs so they can endure runs of that distance. Also make sure you have quality shoes with good…
  • Do you tend to tilt forward a bit when you run or speed walk? If so, that can give you a back ache in no time. In addition to stretching your legs and arms, it would still be a good idea to stretch your back or do strength training for your back to make sure all muscles are up to snuff.
