  • I just made these. I used fat free vanilla flavored, artificially sweetened greek yogurt, so to keep the brownies from being too sweet, I reduced the splenda to 1/3 cup. I also used quick oats instead of regular, and whole milk instead of skim. With these substitutions, running the recipe through MFP's recipe builder…
  • At 5'10" and 10st 11, your BMI is 20. That is well within the healthy weight range, and is actually closer to underweight than overweight. The good news is, you are not obese, or even overweight. Congratulations! It is possible, if you've spent years dieting and not exercising, that your lean body mass is lower…
  • I have all the ingredients for this! Yay! I'll have to make them today (once my appetite returns after reading the "What's the grossest thing you've ever eaten" thread).
  • I just wanted to pop back in here and thank you all for grossing me out so much that my appetite is gone. Gonna be a breeze to stay within my calorie limit today! Anytime I feel hungry, I'll just click back over here and catch up...
  • Just wanted to chime in about the thyroid. Mine has been enlarged since puberty. Every time I visit a new doctor they freak out and announce that this is why I'm overweight and they immediately run a full panel of whatever lab work they do. It always comes back within normal limits. I have no symptoms of a malfunctioning…
  • Escargot. Blood sausage. Both of them tasted fantastic. But then I started thinking about what I was eating... It was like when you're going up stairs and you start thinking about walking up stairs and thinking about it messes you up and you trip. It was the culinary version of that.
  • OP, if you're still checking this thread, I suggest you listen to the people you think are bullying you or being negative. Listening to the "mean" people was how I got through my first plateau when I was exactly where you are now (I was much, much more obese though). Also, I've missed where people are mean and negative on…
  • Likitisplit mentioned it. I came in to say the same thing. Also, OP, the thread you referenced in your post is one where the poster admitted that she was lowering her calorie intake below her BMR and what MFP suggested on a whim, just to see how many days she could do it. That doesn't sound very healthy or sustainable,…
  • Matt, I always want to do that! I'm living vicariously through you. It reminds me of a time when my purse was stolen from work. I had a deck of tarot cards in it (long story), and the purse was found 20 minutes later in the bathroom. Everything was still intact, except the tarot cards had been taken from their…
  • Is this something that could be fixed (mostly) by adding a captcha thingy to the sign up process?
  • I'm sorry for your devastating loss. What an incredible recovery you've made from that. I'm now adding you to my mental list of "No Excuses" people. Whenever I have a bad day and want to binge or skip my workout, I think of these people and remind myself that I have no excuses. Thank you for your inspiration.
  • Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat???!!! Also, yes, the mods here are amazing. Also, also, thank you ihad, I still haven't figured out how to resize. I'll work on that so I don't derp so hard in the future.
  • HA! I do that sometimes when I want to reply to someone -- why is that option right by the "Quote" option? I grabbed the pic off some random website. Maybe I need to start a tumblr or something with all the gifs/pics I like. Wait. That would be admitting I have an MFP forum problem...
  • Dang it. My pic is too big and I don't know how to fix it. :grumble:
  • Reporting the spam has become my morning workout. I need to remember to stretch out my "Report Post" finger so I don't pull a muscle.
  • What a weird thread. I love MFP.
  • Things I have learned from this thread: 1. I need to recalibrate my sarcasm detector (thank you EvgeniZyntx and DavPul). 2. You do not need to know how to write proper English in order to teach the language to others. 3. Some guy named Layne on YouTube has all the answers, but despite this easily accessed knowledge, there…
  • What? Are you calling Evgen the bully? He's usually the most articulate and well-informed person on any thread I read. Maybe you meant someone else? Now I'm really confused. Maybe I just need more coffee.... excuse me....
  • OP, maybe we're all just misunderstanding you, since your profile also says you practice IF, yet in this thread you seem to say that this causes metabolic damage? I'm confused. Perhaps you could clarify?
  • Um, hellooo? You've lost 98 pounds? I don't think motivation is your problem! Seriously, though. I'm here every day. I keep a tight food and exercise log and am always good for an "atta girl!" if you need one. Sending FR now... :glasses:
  • Makes me think of this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buqtdpuZxvk
  • The OP used the term "weak" in the definition of chivalry. I was referring to that. Sorry, should have quoted.
  • I'm all for manners and helping the weak. But isn't it condescending to put half the human race into the "weak" category, just because of their sex?
  • Post history indicates she used to weight 80-something pounds. OP, please see your doctor about these issues. I think you need more help than an internet forum can provide. Good luck and good health to you. :flowerforyou:
  • This is what we do! Tuesday night is $5 pizza night at our house. I just make sure I save enough calories for 2 slices, and get my veggies in earlier in the day. One pizza fills my family of 3 up for dinner, with a bit leftover for someone to have the next day (usually the husband). :drinker:
  • When I run, my brain feels like a dog that's out for a walk for the first time in days. Going from thought to thought like it's chasing a squirrel. I think about everything, all at the same time. It's brain overload. Then, about 20-30 minutes into it, my brain starts to relax. Then it sort of empties out and all that's…
  • I feel ya, dude. I can only grow 3 hairs on my chin. But I'm thinking menopause will turn that into a seriously awesome goatee. Fingers crossed!
  • My advice (for what it's worth) is to give it one more month (I know, I KNOW). Keep doing what you're doing, and at the end of the month, assess your weight, measurements, and clothing fit. Another thought: Have you gone to the "Reports" section to check your weight over the last 6 months? There could be a downward trend…
  • Thinking about this is going to make my afternoon walk much funnier to me. I will be imagining blowing my fat out of my mouth with each breath. --Ooo! I'm seeing the title of your new book, Aaron: "Breathe Yourself Thin." You can acknowledge me on the dedication page. PS I wish I had some real insight to add, but as usual,…
