I went to a BBQ the other day, and wanted to bring 'healthy options'. I shredded about a kilo of carrots, sliced the same amount of tomatoes and made a good quantity of my favorite dressing : one yogurt, one tablespoon of olive oil, one of vinegar, salt, pepper, fresh basil with a nice spin in the mixer. Since everyone…

Changing your exercise routine and 'boot camping' it for a month, maybe ?

The only other 2 conditions i can think of are: *potomania, a psychiatric disorder which makes sufferers drink anything and everything. Even harmful cleaning supplies. (Not you!) *diabetes insipedus. You might want to talk to your doctor about it next time you get a health check. Just to make sure you don't have that…

Thank you for the suggestions. Tagged for later referal.

Honestly, i don't know but your post made me want to tell you to look at the bigger picture. You have just had major surgery and your health, more than your weight, ought to be - in my opinion - the bigger concern. I understand where you are coming from. It is quite a ***** to lose 3 pounds, it's a lot of efforts. Don't…

I would track, and write down in the 'note' area a reminder that those were 'sick days'. If you do that, you keep your habit of logging, logging, logging! As far as the weight loss on the scale. Well, if you had gastroenteritis with fluids coming out of both ends, yea, you will be considerably lighter after a few days...…

I am always cold as a snake. LOL! I need to be in one of those crazy cardio workout classes to actually be warm. When i lived in Texas, i loved when the temp was in the 90's because if i went outside, i would feel warm and warmth! I think it has to do with my poor blood circulation, bad veins etc. When i was 'lean', it…

You and I are in the same boat, so to speak, i have a couple weeks of a head start. The 'not losing' and the frustration of the begining are normal, i felt it too. There are only two parts for your new credo : *Cal in < cals out (you may want to reevaluate your intake, it does seem like too much of a gap, but i'm no…

Not to play 'couch psychologist' or anything but i think it has a lot to do with the wiring of our brains since being babies. From day 1, the greatest extacsy is to be held by a loving parent and having our hunger quenched. The idea itself of 'feeling full'... Who doesn't want to 'feel full' and not contemplate or fall…

I came to the same conclusion, i.e. Cutting off all booze could only be beneficial : less calories, less eating (when i drink i tend to 'relax' and let my guard down) and also the added health benefit of being abstinent. Right now, i am on vacation, so i am drinking again 2 or 3 glasses everyday. Prior to that, i was…

I am no vacation now, well at least for one more day. It could not have come at a 'worse' time in terms of my diet plan/new lifestyle/getting a grip, as i started MFP one month ago precisely and had lost 2 kgs after 3 weeks. I should also mention that my beau and I are foodies. We choose vacation spots *for* the star…

Nike training is a good tool. It offers very good workouts.

Walking in water up to a little below your knee (on the sea shore for instance) is great exercise. You have a bit of resistance going because of the water and the coolness of the water is good for blood circulation in the veins. Make sure you wear sunscreen and a hat ;) I would log it as 'hiking', for lack of a better log.

I cannot tell you what is means but i can tell you what it means to me. I cook and make most of what i eat from scratch, i.e. Flour i bake, veggies i wash and cut, beans i bought dry etc etc. I also eat as much organic food as i can afford and meat is always lean and organic. It takes a long time, shopping at different…

This piece of advice is coming from a French who loooooves Texas from having lived in Austin for 4 years. This place is not really healthy, but you HAVE to try it : the Salt Lick BBQ! They now have several location, the original one being South of Austin on I35, a little out of town in the countryside. They have another…

You pick yourself up, you don't feel sorry for yourself because you know deep down it was a set back and you can and will do better. You log your food, you log your exercise. You take pride in your new ways. You support your MFP friends who need you as much as you need them, and you get back on the wagon. We are here for…

I am a migraine sufferer and tbh, i never made the connection between what i eat and the migraine. My triggers are stress, lights and tiredness. If those three happen in a combo, you can bet your hard earnt dollar or pound that i am due for a migraine that will not go away until i vomit and sleep it off in the dark for at…

Ah! The dreaded Marmite! What memories! Being from northern france, the yearly trip to Devon with my english class to stay with a host family would always bring about the same anxiety... will my host family make me eat Marmite this year? Will i be able to stomach it this time around? Personaly, i never could. Minty peas…
