  • I go the gym alone, and I honestly feel too self-conscious most of the time to get a good workout. However, my gym is a university gym where all students have membership through mandatory student fees. Not to say that there aren't serious people working out sometimes, but after midmorning it's big groups muscley dudes…
  • Yeah, glazes, spices, and preservatives in ham and other meats are often secretly filled with gluten. Especially lunch meats. If you're having trouble then only buy the stuff that specifically says gluten-free on the package, even if there is no wheat or anything in the ingredients or if you've had it before with no…
  • I am convinced that my first 20 pounds were entirely from my back. I went from a 40D to a 34-36D and lost the entire gross roll of fat that made me want to lose weight in the first place. Otherwise my face and about 10 inches from my waist and 4 from my thighs. So far my boobs have stayed with me, lol.
  • Remember that no matter how much you weigh, you are somebody's goal weight. =) If you go to that pool in your nice new bathing suit and enjoy yourself with confidence, those other women will find some reason to be jealous. And if that doesn't make you feel better, then forget them. You worked hard and deserve to feel proud…
  • Wow, you don't even look like the same person anymore! You are doing an amazing job. =)
  • 5'6" and currently 162 pounds. My short term goal is 160 (SO CLOSE), but I'm really unsure of my long-term goal. Anything below 160 is uncharted territory for me so I have no idea how I'll look or feel at 150, or 140, or 130. Websites and my Wiifit tell me I should weigh about 138, so I guess I'll aim for that...eventually.
  • I am also a student and I prefer to take a big bag of snacks with me rather than some sort of lunch-meal. That way I get less ravenous waiting for lunch time and I don't binge on vending machine chips when I smell everyone else's classtime snacks. I bring fruit, veggies, almonds, granola bars, and the like.
  • I'm just a classic example of a girl who likes to eat for a variety of reasons besides hunger and had no idea how the quality and quantity of those foods affected the body. I was always chubby, but gained more weight in college. But really, who doesn't? Fast forward to a year ago things in my relationship became really…
  • Mine readjusted today when I went in to look at my settings. I am going to sorely miss those 40 calories everyday, haha.
  • If I really want it, then I'll have it every once in a while. But I always look up nutritional info first and pick something that's not too outrageous. But I've found that I don't REALLY actually want it anymore. Fast food restaurants use cheap ingredients. Soggy white buns and moldy lettuce smothered in mayo just isn't…
  • Most likely 1/3 cup raw, which equals around 1-1.5 cups cooked.
  • I eat dry air-popped popcorn with a bit of vinnegar and salt when I'm snacky. Delicious, low in calories, and a ton of eating for relatively few calories. Better than chips any day! Also try having water on hand, maybe with a flavouring like Crystal Lite.
  • I think a lot of us have this problem where we're overwhelmed with trying to make a huge and difficult lifestyle change, and all of our doubts, fears, and anxieties BECOME that one candy bar. If we fail at that, we fail at it all. Overall it doesn't matter if you eat that one chocolate bar once in a while, but learning how…
  • I am 5'6 and 166 pounds and totally down for starting a group of similar ladies.
  • I went from a very tight and uncomfortable 40 D to a now-loose 36 D. I didn't want to loose any boobage at first, but then I remembered that even smaller boobs would still look bigger up against a smaller overall body. And that's what I'm sticking with.
  • I drink a bottle of water with Crystal Lite when I cook. It keeps my hands/mouth occupied when I want to grab something, and it's sweet so it's more satisfying than just water. Plus it makes me eat less when I actually eat dinner.
  • My whole family did raw for a year or so when I was fourteen. My parents still do it in phases, and they were/are well read in vegan and raw nutrition, so no comments about how they were terrible parents for starving their children, etc. please. I was constantly eating, non-stop, and I felt fantastic. The most healthy and…
  • Take a few days off, your body needs a rest to get better. Maybe take a leisurely walk if you get antsy, but don't push it.
  • Chronic back and hip pain here. My doctor is doing x-rays and treating me for osteoarthritis in the meantime, which is a huge step up from getting psh-awed from every other doctor for the last year. Which is understandable, since I'm only 21 and female and complaining about chronic back pain like an old man. But seriously,…
  • I literally save a few calories so I can have popcorn. Air popped, of course, with no butter. Just white vinnegar and a pinch of salt. So good and so few calories for a snack that practically comes in a bucket.
  • Hit the thrift stores! That's how I found new office clothes halfway to my overall goal.
  • You look fantastic. If I saw you on the street I would consider you a thin person, just sayin'. But I know what you mean. I don't think the obese girl in my head will ever be subdued completely, no matter how awesome I look on the outside.
