I just went back through and read every post and I think most of them were neutral to encouraging. There were a couple of rude posts, but, not many. My late wife, my step daughter and I all have very different ways of looking at things. My late wife used to see encouragement and good in places I couldn't. My step daughter…

Thank You, I will enjoy my milk. I've read the articles about milk and the argument against animal proteins, a propaganda video isn't going to change my mind. I drink milk and cheese and eat eggs and chicken breasts and pork and beef and even cute little baby lambies. Just think of that, you could post a video about veal…

I've been eating pretty much the same diet and been at the same activity level for the last two years and have not lost anything, I still weigh between 250 and 260. Before April of 2011 I was eating the same diet, but, my activity level was much higher since I was working. The last time I lost any significant weight was…

I agree, refined sugar is toxic. Getting natural sugars from fruit and honey isn't bad in moderation, but, the majority of sugar people in the west eat is refined sugar.

I read it the same way and offered a personal example of doing something that was stupid and borderline deadly. It was my way of saying something along the lines of, "yeah, people can lose weight faster if they do something stupid and put their life in danger." and of course I not only pointed out my mistake but that I…

How much food should you eat? MyFitnessPal tells you 1200 calories a day. I would suggest listing all of your activities for a few days. The I would suggest using Cancer.gov, http://riskfactor.cancer.gov/tools/atus-met/met.php?major[]=02&keywords=&metval_min=&metval_max=#search_tables , to figure out the MET value of all…

My understanding is that either capsules or tea made with dandelion root will work, I use the capsules when I am worried about water weight and my blood pressure is good. I am careful with them though.

The longest I have gone without eating is about 60 hours. I did drink water and coffee and take vitamins. These days I will occasionally do a single day "fast" where I drink coffee or tea, lots of bottled water, and then metamucil and protein shakes 3-4 times a day along with my cardiac meds and vitamins. My advice, for…

You ate 600 calories and burned 900 calories so you have a negative net 300 calories for the day. Thats not much. If you watch primates they eat, sit around and then do some short activity and then sit and eat and do some short activity. Our bodies are probably evolved to do the same thing. The idea of working all day at…

I lost thirty pounds in ten days once. It was my first long back packing trip on Isle Royal and my brother and we walked the Minong Ridge trail from Rock Harbor to Windigo and then back. We took those "feed two" dehydrated meals, ate maybe a 1,000 calories a day and burned about 12,000-16,000 carrying packs that were way…

I have a medical condition so my metabolism isn't average. All the BMR and TDEE calculators work on averages, but, in the end what matters is energy in, metabolism and energy out. The numbers we get from these calculators are based on averages, but in reality "normal" isn't an exact number, it is really a "range". Teachers…

My Garmin does, my Timex does not. If you check out the Apps section on the MyFitnessPal website there are applications that work with heart rate monitors and if that is your goal I think Novacaserole probably had the least expensive suggestion. Get an app that works with My Fitness Pal, a bluetooth heart monitor strap.…

There are metabolic equivency tables for almost all activities, MET. Cancer.gov is one of the best sites I have found for METs. I ran a search for housework and found the following METs: Table 3: Summary MET values for most Major Categories in ATUS (Occupation and Traveling excepted) Major Category General…

You can do it. Start with doing some activity, anything and then add feeling good about being hungry. Later add more activity and healthier food.

If all you want to do is check your heart rate occasionally you might want to look at the finger tip watches, where you put your finger tip against a place on the watch to check your heart rate. My daughtrer and I were looking at some at Walmart for about $30 and I think Walmart had chest strap models for around $55. I…

The walmart I go to has a zero calorie Peanut Spread and when I am hungry and don't have many calories I will use it. Not as good as Jiff, kind of fluffy. I like Jiff much better :-) Its called: Walden Farms Peanut Spread

I've played around with logging all physical activity at SupreTracker.gov and I really don't see it as being very useful. If you are interested in how many calories housework burns you can check out the MET values at Cancer.gov,…

My daughter went through a similar experience. Her weight went up to 350lbs. Something clicked in her and she began focusing on eating healthy. She typically eats between 800 and 1000 calories a day and she has lost 150lbs in 9 months. Personally I would never have suggested eating so little,, but, the volume she eats is…

There are various metabolism problems that can cause huge problems in weight loss. I can't lose weight. On the other hand my daughter recently lost 150lbs (9 months, so far) by becoming obsessed with eating healthy. So far she has not become overly obsessed, this last Sunday she ate a pulled pork BBQ sandwich for the first…

hmmm, I agree and disagree with both of the prevailing viewpoints. Excessive sodium can cause water weight build up. Excessive water build up in the body can cause congestive heart failure which results in death. A lack of sodium can cause death. so sodium is pretty important and I believe should be balanced.…
