That's funny! I have 20 years of marriage under my belt, so I am often in that "don't know what to give" situation. But this kind of sounds like a marketing ploy from jewelery companies to create more business. Maybe I am just cynical...

Sorry, but I kind of disagree some of this advice. I know for me, I had to eliminate this type of food entirely. I don't know your situation but I have a lot of weight to lose and some blood tests to get back in line. So making progress was the key. I feel like if I truly want to make progress, I need to keep the fries and…

Very good start! And you are right...celebrate every success you have and use it to motivate you to keep going. Every day that you stick to your plan you are that much healthier. Great job.

And sorry, I forgot the eggbeaters. Great topic. Makes me want to see the opposite topic: what people NEVER have in their carts.
-
These are the items that make up 90% of my meals. I eat just about all of these almost every day, so they need to be in my cart every time! lettuce (variety of kinds) spinach tomatoes peppers (all 4 colors) hot peppers snow peas snap peas celery sprouts carrots broccolli onions mushrooms pam spray Nature's Own - Honey…

That's fantastic! I have the same issue, but I LOVE it because over the years I have resized my wedding ring twice. Unfortunately, that resizing meant making it bigger. I used to tell myself that the gold just shrunk! :) I am going to really enjoy paying to resize it smaller when I do it. I will wait until I lose my goal…

I work a rotating shift. Rotates on a random basis and never the same week to week. What works for me is what a poster above mentioned. Simply log it on the day that you wake up. Midnight is just an arbritrary cutoff point that you can ignore. Sure, you have to click or swype back to the previous day to enter things, but…

So for me, the question is why did the OP post this in the first place? When I read a question like this, I often wonder if the poster doesn't already really know the answer and is somehow hoping they will find some justification to ignore the truth. Denial. I am all for low calorie to lose weight and I am all for eating…

Thanks, everyone! It's incredibly rewarding to achieve these results, but it's even more rewarding to read your comments. Yes, I do feel like a million bucks, both emotionally from the doctor vist but also physically and psychologically from the weight loss itself. So many of you have already been down this road and know…

I use the Kroger version. And as odd as it sounds, I use it sometimes instead of mayo when I make tuna salad. My other variation is half fat free mayo, half low sodium salsa. These aren't for everybody, but I like it spicy.

No, I was halfway expecting that to come up. She has no concerns over that. Nor does she have any concerns about my calorie intake. I average 1200-1300 per day and she says that is about correct. Controversial subject, I know, but it works for me and it works for my doctor. And the answer on the pics not showing up is that…

Thanks for the kind words on mine. You deserve a high five yourself! Great job! And I love the giant bottle of my favorite food...

So...who can tell me why the pics didn't show up? I copied and pasted the IMG code and changed it to lowercase on both ends of the code.

It's really interesting to see the different approaches people take. What a great question. Looks like everyone is in agreement that you need to be consistent and do it every day. What works best for me is track everything I eat right as it's happening. I always have my phone with me and I have a rule that I log before I…

I think you are exactly correct. I realized the same thing about myself a while back. I "thought about" losing weight many times and could just not seem to take action. I have been overweight for most of my 20 year marriage. When I began this attempt in February, I realized very clearly that the past attempts were just…

I totally agree that this is not a great plan. I do advocate soup as a food but not like this. Soup is a fantastic addition to your diet if you make it yourself and exercise portion control. I eat some soup every day but that's mostly because I really like it. I make homemade soups so that I can control flavors, nutrients,…

Aaahh...you've been reading posts. I usually shoot at Black Creek or for sporting clays, I go to Old Forge. Don't get the chance as often as I'd like, though. I hesitated for a second before responding because I really don't like to give advice. One thing about this site is that many people present themselves as experts…

I am not so interested in the challenge but thought i'd say hi. I am also in Mechanicsville and started mfp the beginning of february. I've been using the android the whole time.and I find that is usually the quickest and easier way to log. I make it a habit to log everything as I am getting ready to eat it. That way I…

My weight loss journey is totally unrelated to shooting, but i am an avid shooter myself. Of course, here in the south, most of us are. Most of my shooting time these days is sporting clays, but i'll do trap or target shooting and be just as happy. Some of my favorite times have been taking my daughter to the range and…

I know its a controversial topic but I really don't think starvation mode should concern you. Sometimes we are just not hungry and to me it doesn't make sense to eat just to add calories. Starvation mode needs an extended period of time to happen, certainly more than a day or two. Personally my net calories are ALWAYS…

I am making this right now, won't know for a while how it comes out. I opted to finish it in the crockpot. Since I was concerned with calories/fat, I made a couple of changes. Most notably, no olive oil and I used 90/10 ground turkey instead of ground beef. I didn't have any carrots, so I left those out. They probably…

Sounds really good. Just might give it a try today. I can't see where they listed any nutritional info, so I guess I'll have to do some calculations on the fly as I shop for the ingredients. Target for me would be to remain under 150 per serving. I need to save room to add a salad or other items and stay under 300 for the…

Good advice so far. I have had a little success so far in losing the weight, but I will admit that I still like to eat and still have the eating habit. For me it's not emotion but habit and boredom. I'd like to work on that, but step one for me was replacing bad eating with good eating. I always make sure that the kitchen…

It will definitely NOT just fall out. Good question! You will need to scrape the inside gently with the tongs of a fork and it will just come out easily. You'll see...it's not difficult. Be prepared for something with not a whole lot of flavor on it's own. But it's a great veggie and can be used for lots of things. Use as…

I agree. You should go and just control what you eat and drink. I have only had one social event since I started this and I guess it was easier because everybody was very supportive and impressed by my progress. You are facing a tougher situation. Any chance that it's a bigger problem in your mind than it will turn out to…

I have been wondering when you would post pix. What can we tell you that you haven't told yourself? You look fantastic! Look what you have done for your family...many more.years with the kiddo and probably a lot more energy to enjoy being a mama. You are one of those people that reminds me that I can do it.

I'd have to agree with most of the ones on here so far: Smoking PJ's in public (have some self respect) Low cut pants with the tramp stamp facial piercings pretending those tight clothes actually fit plastic shoes (what are they called, crocs?) anything that makes you look like a tramp (...there's a difference between…
