I also think I may change my food diary into vegan/non-vegan ... just to start giving me an idea ... I never really cared about the meal breakdown (as I just usually concentrated on daily stuff) ... but perhaps the vegan / non-vegan breakdown will actually be useful for this assessment, whatever my goal ends up being. Hmm…

I really appreciate the feedback and pointers to some good resources. Bottom line, I want to treat this body like it needs to be treated. I seem to care more about the gas I put in my car than what I put in my mouth ... and that would be slightly wrong, eh? Even after I've done a lot of changing to my diet, I still throw…

Mile for mile they are close, nobody is going to convince me they are "exactly the same" ... our bodies are not machines, though we can program them like ones sometimes. I run so I can have that beer sooner.

I drink diet soda and run on sidewalks by the way. I understand the logic to avoid both, however in the case of the 2nd, I didn't have an option (that was reasonable being a father of 4 to drive to another location) ... now I have options, but if someone told me I can not run on concrete I would have continued sitting on…

Yes, get properly fit and all, for sure, but let me say this. 2 years ago when I started running I was wearing old tennis shoes, and cotton t-shirts ... because, well, that's all I had. I'm not saying I recommend that (and my 1st response is always to get properly fit) but I understand that sometimes it doesn't happen.…

I feel like I should say something because clearly there aren't enough opinions on this thread yet ;) Effort burns calories. The more muscles used, and the more effort they use the more calories it burns. Done. Now, "today" if I ran 30 minutes at a 7.0 I would burn xxx calories Now, "today" if I ran 30 minutes at a 8.0 I…

LOL, this one is going in my collection for later!

Thanks again for your input ... in putting together a fresh plan for September (would like something tangible to work towards) this is all helpful in helping make up a routine ... I think I'm going to do a month-to-month thing ... do something for a month and the tweak, and change it up ... but be consistent for a month…

Once upon a time I used to be fat, then I became a runner :) Again, whatever works ... if switching it up works, than do it. But do what you enjoy.

This now concludes my 2 favorite bacon pictures :)

"Hail to the king, baby." Doesn't see to have the same romantic effect on my wife ... seems to trigger a laugh or rolled eyes depending on the mood ;)

Do what you enjoy! :) After running for 2 years I am finally getting the bug for doing other things ... I have lost a lot of weight and feel strong in many ways (including my lower body obviously), but clearly I could benefit from strength training. Calories in, Calories out. However things like HIIT, and I'm sure lifting…

But running 10k just before made it a pretty easy choice too! :)

Well, my daughter just made this for the family so I had to try a piece tonight! :)

There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.

Interesting options and info ... thanks guys.

Ha, well clearly not as grand as yours, but that's my thinking too. I had a 100 mile goal that I want to finish for August and once that is out of the way (so I can say I hit it) I want change it up a bit ... BTW, awesome on the running ... When's the half?
-
True ... perhaps that's the running in me thinking standard intervals still having not experienced actual HIIT

Well, I have a lot of girls, but I'm not one myself :) ... and if I was one, I probably wouldn't have 4 kids (amazed at my wife's strength on that one!) ... beyond mine!!! But anyway, excellent points ... I'm trying to structure what this would look like in my routine (as I do want to at least give it a fair shot) but am…

Hmm ... Good point. I obviously have not done HIIT yet :)
