once is enough for me.

I can't run either due to a knee issue. Here is what I'd do: - Walk at a brisk pace. - Join a GYM with ellptical machines - Ride a bike - Walk stairs (HS football stands are great for this).

It is water. This totally normal and nothing to be worried about. Keep doing what you are doing.

Second this. Whole body compound lifts.

Hey...I felt that way once. Now I'm a total gym rat. You can buy dumb bells and work out at home. You can find a gym that less intimidating - I go to the YMCA (more of a family & retired people). Bottom line don't let this fear stop you. Workout, workout hard & smart and in a few months you'll look and feel totally…

I'm at 30% protean, 25% fat, 45% carbs. Can you eat fish?

I'm straight. But if I were you I'd consider a change in language here. The phrase "homosexual culture", seems a little strange to me. It implies a stereotype. Homosexuals come from all backgrounds and cultures, they just just are attracted to members of the same sex.

I'm weaning myself. By the end of the day, if I feel comfortable I have enough room, I don't log the evening meal. I'm working out building muscle back, so I do want track protean, so MFP is useful for that.

Scary.... Been here for 2 weeks Gained 4 lbs. Knew it wasn't fat. A change in my weight lifting caused muscle inflamation, which added water weight. Eventually it dropped back down, and now I'm experimenting with more food. The only thing I've avoiding right now is sugars and starches. Truth be told, now that I'm here I'm…

Ok....you asked for a kick in the pants. Here goes. How in the heck can you propose that you were meant to be heavy when you admit you are an emotional eater and just started exercising? Move more, increase the variety and intensity of your exercise as your body grows stronger. Eat better. Get a handle on your emotional…

mountain biking.

I second that.

It is way too early to be worried about a plateau. Just keep at it. results average out over a long period of time. Week to week it is not uncommon to stall or even gain weight. Thank in much longer terms and relax.

Your fine. The MFP default setting for protean is low something like 15% of cals. I eat anywhere between 150 to 200 grams. BTW you can set the protean % to anything you want. I have it at 25%.

Are you confident the estimate of calories burned in exercise is correct. 4 weeks ago I changed my work out - weight loss stalled. I turns out the estimate go calories burned in my new lift program was high.

It possible people with 200-300 net just aren't logging everything. One I had a good feel for the cal value of different foods, when I had a cal surplus due to exercise, I didn't log everything.

I'm not sure I agree that one should NEVER use BMI. I think a better approach is to use it as one indicator. Others to consider are waist-to-height ratio and BF %. I certainly have a body type that doesn't fit BMI. Current %BF = 23% w BMI 27.9. When I get to 20% BF (assuming no loss of lean mass) my BMI will be 26.6. If I…

Looking at your diary, I think you would benefit with more consistent exercise, which would allow you to eat more.
-
I'm not an expert - however, base don my research and experience, eating more works but it should be linked with an uptick in activity. i ate more and burned more at the same time.

Self pity chaps my *kitten*. We pick the behavior, we pick the results.

If I were you I wouldn't have it in the house until such time I've replaced that habit with something healthier..

Sarah, I love your outlook! Excellent that you walk everyday independent of a work out. I start every day with a 30min walk and typically a 2nd 30 mins in the evening. this is on top on other workouts during the day. Here are my rules for a new lifestyle: Eat lean protean (chicken, fish, etc) - fish 2 times a week is…

Eat them raw, to me they taste much better raw than cooked. Also, experiment eating different ones, you might find ones you like - that's what I did. I just experimented until I found what I liked and build meals and snacks around them. Kale chips and sweet peppers are excellent replacements for potato chips.
