If you are cooking only for yourself, that makes it easier. Shop the perimeter of the grocery store for whole, non-processed foods--veggies, fruits, meats. Start with a variety of raw veggies with whatever permitted condiment to dip in (I eat a container/plate of veggies for dinner every day). Use the RECIPE function on…

Experiment with some marinades. I like sockeye salmon with 1 tbsp of Drew's Smoked Tomato Dressing/Marinade drizzled over the top and baked or gently microwaved.

H4H SW 156.2 H4H GW 150 Since I'm closing in on my overall goal weight of 145, I decided to lower my weekly loss goal to 0.5 lb./week and see what happens. Still following Primal Blueprint and keeping carbs <100g/day. NSV's for this challenge: Fit well into size 10 jeans (maybe knocking on the door of size 8???). Work on…

I'm in. I can take a September week.

I've been about 80/20 Primal (eating dairy and mostly whole, non-processed foods, keeping carbs <100 g/day, following MFP calorie recommendation) since early Feb. Don't miss potatoes or pasta; sorta miss bread, but rarely eat it now. I'm eating more fresh veggies than I ever have, small servings of fruit, moderate servings…

I get these every week (take them cut up for my lunch at work): Grape tomatoes Celery Carrots Radishes Avocado Mushrooms Cucumber Red bell peppers Mixed spinach/baby greens As needed for meals I'm cooking during the week: Cauliflower Broccoli Squash Sweet potatoes Onions Garlic Zucchini I choose what looks good and is on…

57 lbs. lost in just over 6 months. I eat back my exercise calories, about 250-375 per day.

I work evenings, getting home just after midnight, and I always have something to eat then. Since I've been on MFP, I plan and log my bedtime snack, usually Greek yogurt and berries, before I get home. If you live alone, just don't buy the stuff that you know tempts you. If you have family/roommates, you'll just have to be…

I had been taking daily medication for GERD for about 3 years (after I got up past 185-190 lbs). Once I lost about 30 lbs., I was able to use my medication less often, and now at 55+ lbs. lost and nearly into a healthy weight zone, I've been completely off it for a couple of months. Mine was never triggered by any…

I weigh every morning and log my weight once a week on my challenge weigh-in day. Seeing my weight daily keeps me accountable, because in my overweight past, when I avoided the scale, I was in denial about my actual weight.
-
I chose a goal weight that was about half-way into the healthy BMI range for my height and frame size, and which is also around what I weighed in my late 20's (before kids). I'm only 15 or so lbs. away, so maybe by Christmas??

I've been doing low-carb for 6 months (<100 g/day) and have not experienced any adverse effects, just consistant weight loss.

Yes, fruits are higher in carbs than veggies. I still eat fruits, but instead of a whole apple, orange, grapefruit, or pear, I just eat half of one for a fruit serving, and only 2-3 servings per day. I usually have berries with Greek yogurt in the evening, and I adjust the amount by where my carb count is for the day. I'm…

My yard has benefited greatly from the exercise calories I've expended on it this year. I hate wasting my energy on non-productive exercise!

I've been eating about 90% Primal (with dairy) using MFP's calorie guidelines and keeping carbs <100g/day, and have lost 50lbs. in 5 months while not feeling hungry or deprived. This is the first time in my life I haven't felt like I was on a "diet"; these are foods I can eat happily for the rest of my life.
-
Yes, I eat my exercise calories, otherwise I'd go under 1200 net calories. Yes, I've been losing 1-2 lbs. per week over the past 5 months (Primal Blueprint/low carb).

I'm 5'6", medium frame. I was a very fit 127 in high school (MANY years ago), matured to 135 in college and around 140-145 before I had kids. I'm aiming for 150 at first, mainly because it will get me into the healthy BMI range. If I can get back to 140-145 eventually, I'd be delighted.

@ ((((((((((jennifer)))))))))))))))))))))) Yesterday, I got the lawn mowed before we had a drenching rain last night--Yay! Today, my DD2 comes to visit on her way to equine massage school. I will be dog-sitting my "grand-dog" while she's there. I foresee many 3.0 mph walks with dog in the next 2 weeks.

You might be able to get away with not logging veggies (the low-cal, non-starchy kind), but fruits add up in calories and carbs that could derail your weight loss plan.

Welcome to all the first timers! I found Angela's and Jessica's 30-day Challenge within a couple of days of joining MFP back in February, and now the core group is going on challenge #4 with Fit for Fall. F4F SW 168.0 GW 160 NSV goals Fit into my next size smaller jeans Do at least 10 regular pushups (I can manage 1 now,…

Put 44 lbs. of something in a backpack and carry it for just a couple of minutes, or up the stairs. You'll see why your knees and back are thanking you for your weight loss so far. Keep up the good work. It will only get better!

Howdy to the friends I've been "challenging" with for a while and welcome to the new ones.
-
I eat my "midnight snack" of Greek yogurt and berries when I get home from work at 12:30 a.m. Hasn't slowed down my weight loss at all.
-
I've been eating Primal (keeping carbs <100g/day) and exercising moderately (mostly walking or yard work) for exactly 4 months today, and I'm down 45 lbs. IT WORKS! Even following a reduced calorie eating plan (1200 net calories/eating exercise calories) I haven't been "starving" or even "hungry" except right before…

Chili contains at least three acid reflux triggers--spices, onions, and tomatoes. I never had heartburn before I gained too much weight. Now that I'm down 45 lbs., I'm completely off my GERD medication (omeprazole and/or ranitidine), so I think mine was more weight-related than food-related.

I use half a flatout to make a hamburger. I add lots of lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, and a little dressing. It's juicy, messy, and tastes like the real thing with only 9 g carb in the "bread".

You are well on your way. Check out Primal Blueprint at <marksdailyapple.com>

To look good in form-fitting riding pants and be able to ride my horse like the wind.

I'm down 44 lbs. in 4 months (since Feb 9, 2011). I haven't been this low since at least 2005, when I was pretty fit from cleaning stalls and riding horses daily, but still overweight because I wasn't watching what or how much I ate. Now, I'm doing at least 60 minutes of yard work every day. My body is getting stronger,…

I've been totally off my GERD (heartburn) medication for almost a month. I'm not sure if it's the food plan or the weight loss, but I'm really happy about it. Also, a co-worker commented today that I'm starting to look like what she remembers from when we first met over 30 years ago.
