  • I make a crustless Quiche Lorraine about once a week and have a piece warmed up every morning. You can choose a recipe with either milk or cream, or a mixture. I hate dragging out all the stuff to make an omelet, so this gives me a high protein, low carb, almost convenience food to start my day.
  • 100 days of eating right and exercising with MFP and Primal Blueprint in mid-May. 40 lbs of weight lost on MFP day 101. 8 lbs. lost in May. Made it back down to what I weighed in 2005. Size 14 pants fit comfortably, and I can squeeze into and zip up size 12 jeans. I can wear my favorite trim-fit shirt again. My yard looks…
  • Meet my Midsummer Meltdown GW of 170 by June 21 Drop into the 160's before the end of June. Do 30-60 minutes of productive exercise (yard work, etc) every day.
  • The amount of sodium in cottage cheese and the carbs in almonds. Almonds are good for their protein and healthy fats, but I have to limit them to make my carb goal.
  • I don't usually weigh at night, but when I have, I'm pretty consistently 2-3 lbs. more than my morning weight.
  • I work 4 p.m. to midnight. I eat "brunch" around 11a.m., dinner at work around 5:30 p.m., and my late night snack (planned in advance) when I get home around 12:30 a.m. I plan the day's meals before I leave for work, adjust for exercise calories, and pretty much stick with what I've planned. It works for me.
  • Congrats! It does feel good, doesn't it?

  • Zoi honey-flavored. It's a Washington state brand, but I've found it as far away as Montana. Our Winco store carries it at almost half what QFC charges.
  • Two nephews--Army--both home now from tours in Afghanistan. Their sister's husband--Army. Good friend's son--Air Force. My dad--WWII Navy veteran, active in VFW, at rest Tahoma National Cemetery.
  • I started at about the same weight range you are, and the same thing happened to me the first week or so. Your body is adjusting to healthier food, lower sodium, appropriate calories, more water. Enjoy--you're on the right track!
  • Well, it turns out that we're having a potluck at work for Cinco de Mayo on Thursday, but I think I'll just construct myself a taco salad (minus the taco) from the goodies provided, so that should keep me within bounds. Also, I'm having dinner with friends on Saturday, but not going out, so I'll bring something to share…

  • I got out in the yard to do 40 minutes of exercise today, walking and carrying a weighty fertilizer/moss killer spreader with my left arm. Water is almost done for today. Catie, those are two great challenges! I don't usually go out to eat (yesterday was a big treat) and I always take my dinner to work (hospital cafeteria…
  • Lost 12 lbs. in April. Made it into the 170's for the first time since 2006. Rode my horse at a canter. Fit into jeans I haven't worn in over 3 years. Made it out of the "obese" BMI range into merely "overweight".
  • Today, I DID order one of the Red Robin gourmet burgers instead of the plain-Jane variety, but with a lettuce wrap and side salad that are available substitutions for the bun and fries. It turns out one of my brothers is also watching calories and carbs, so we supported each other in passing up the fries and dessert and…
  • I thought about that, but all the burgers with special goodies are so darn high in sodium and carbs that even half of one would blow my limits right out of the water. I no longer eat potatoes anyway, so not having fries is easy if they don't come with the meal (like the fish and chips I caved to on vacation). I may cadge…
  • I had a very productive Saturday doing about 3 hours of house and yard chores--and it all counts as exercise! I'm going to splurge tonight and have some of my Dove Easter bunny. I'll have my water done by bedtime. Tomorrow, I'm invited out to Red Robin to celebrate my twin nephews' 21st birthdays. Nearly everything there…
  • I, too, for the first time in my life am looking at yard work with a new attitude. As you said, it's opportunity for productive exercise. Mowing is cardio, picking up branches and other debris from the lawn is stretching, and sweeping and digging is strength training.
  • I got to walk today in SUNSHINE! The weekend here promises to be nice weather, so I hope to get out in the yard and get some more beautification done. I have a flower bed that needs total renovation, and bamboo from across the fence to dig out. I'll have water done by the time I leave work tonight.
  • @jsailor I googled standing (singing, etc) on another site, and it gave (within a couple of calories) the same calorie count as "cooking/food preparation" on MFP, about 135 cal/hour for 150 lb person, or 162 cal/hour for 180 lb person.
  • 60 minutes outdoors doing yard work. The weather can't decide if it's going to be sunny, cloudy, or rainy today. I have never much liked yard work before, but now all I see is opportunity for productive exercise!
  • Yes, I eat it instead of ice cream. I found Auburn,WA-produced Zoi Greek yogurt at a Thriftway in Montana. Our Winco Foods in Everett, WA, carries all 4 varieties of Zoi yogurt at a great price!
  • I spent 60 minutes mowing my lawn and another 60 minutes walking around the yard spraying weeds. 120 minutes outdoors! I keep looking around my yard and seeing exercise opportunities that should keep me busy all spring. Got a good start on the water for today.
  • @Leslieroyale DD2 is text/computer-ese for Dear Daughter Number 2.
  • Working on the water for today--I usually get my 8 glasses in by bedtime. I did my last sweet 30-minute horseback ride until next month when I next visit my mom, DD2 and her horses in Eastern WA. We had a lovely sunny day for it. My DD2 is wildkiger on MFP and this challenge.
  • For my exercise, I count yard work and house cleaning, if it's something more than my daily routine. Also, a 30-minute walk is 30 minutes of exercise, no matter how fast of slow you travel. Playing in the park or yard with kids, dogs, or friends counts, too. Just standing, like when we cook, sing in choir, or wait for the…
  • I'm back for this one! I survived my week's vacation with a smaller loss, but no gain. 4/26/11 SW 181.2 6/21/11 GW 170
  • I use the "gardening, general" category for yard work other than lawn mowing.
  • In my opinion, MFP default settings has carbs set too high, and fat and protein set too low. You can customize your nutrition settings under GOALS on your home page.
  • I try to get in a 30-minute outdoor walk every day. I've been doing it for 2 months, and now I look forward to it.
