@louiseei - You and your daughter are really doing great with this! You must really be proud of her for keeping up with it at only 7 yrs - that's great determination @T565 - You're right, so much of running does seem to be mind over matter - I hate those few days where it doesn't matter what my mind says, my body still…

I made it through W2 D2 last evening, but it was a rough one. I had to wak 10 seconds of the 2nd to last run and 7 seconds of the final run...but I hung in there, so that's the important thing. I think I'm taking today off, which I'll probably regret since it's sunny today and raining the next 3-4 days :( I'm ready for May…

What a wonderful story! Thanks for taking the time to do all that typing to inspire the rest of us. I started last week and am on W2D2 later today. I agree with the recent post that running is scary, but I'm clearly one of the best examples of "If I can do it, you can do it". Now I find myself looking at local running club…

I'm right there with you one day behind, but some new folks have joined so we're in tune with them. I was having trouble walking up and down the stairs from my quad in one leg and the calf in the other leg - guess I must have been off balance on the first day since I'm not equaly sore  I got hit hard with work, so…

It's a very intense workout. I watched it before I did it and thought, "Geez, that doesn't look very hard!". I did day 1 two days ago and had to take yesterday off. I'm still having a hard time with the stairs. I'm not a total couch potato, but this wasn't at all easy. However, if you search the postings for 30 day shred…

That sounds pretty darn good to me, especially with hills thrown in there. We've had heavy rain yesterday and today, so I'm hoping it will slow up later today and I can run without getting totally drenched. I'm glad my neighborhood is almost entirely flat with just the slightest of inclines on one block. I think I'd fall…

Absolutely you can join us - the more of us working together, the better we'll do! Welcome

I did my day 1 this morning - I had to take about 5-10 5 second rest breaks but pushed through. Those 5# weights feel like 20# by the end of the workout. I can already feel some soreness...my legs nearly gave out when I went down the stairs. That surprised me since I've been running the past week. Here's the bad part...My…

I just shelled out the money for an Enell Sports Bra. I'm a 42D. Apparently it was featured by Oprah in her magazine and she really liked it. I had gone to a running specialty store for good shoes and a good bra. I tried on about 10 different types of bras, and this one was the most heavy duty. I think it looks kind of…

I'm so excited! I made it through D1 of W2 and even had a slightly faster run pace (but slower walk pace on purpose). I was looking at a 30-Day Shred before/after success story today that was very inspiring, so I'm going to start that tomorrow. I may end up a pile of jello on the floor by the end of the week but I'll be a…

I just got back from Target and picked up the DVD and some 5# weights (hoping they won't be too heavy). I will start tomorrow also. Last Sunday I started the Couch to 5K and did the first week's plan for 5 of the 7 days. Today I did Day one of Week 2, and plan to keep up with that in addition to the 30Day Shred. I'll have…

Ohyes....Definite difference in your belly and butt...even your forearm looks slimmer. Keep up the fantastic effort!!

I had a thought in reading through this thread....I think we need to let all MFP people run the politics of the world. We all get along so well, look out for each other, and we know how to place nice! I really like that we seem to have people from every corner of the world. I do, however, admit to jealousy when I hear…

Don't feel alone...I'm right there with you. I thought 200 would be my problem number, but it seems I'm stuck at 201, also. We need to start a "199" club:flowerforyou:

I'm hoping to try the 5K to 10K program once I feel comfortable with the 5K...it will give me something to do this fall other than rake leaves! I hear what you're saying about the rest days. I did check with my MD (her practice is strictly weight loss & exercise) about the running. Because I've been walking previously and…

I had that happen to me twice the first week where it was adding the distance from two different days. I'm wondering if I opened it, backed out to another screen, and then re-opened it by mistake. The other thing I'm seeing is when I go into the journal screen it shows one workout that's blank and a second that is my…

Hurray for your daughter!!! She's a real champion to keep going. My daughter hasn't made it out with me for the last 2 runs. Fortunately, she has that youth thing going for her, and I think she'll be joining me the rest of this week. I'm glad you got through the 3 minutes okay! I did Day 1 of Week 2 today. I've been doing…

Welcome aboard ktspac! The more of us the better! I did buy the C25K app for my iphone (think it was $3). I have to purposely not look at the times as I tend to go into the "I'll never last that long" mode. It's a psychological thing for me. I also admit that I love seeing the little GPS map showing me where I went, the…

I'm sad to report I'm still at 201 - however I started running and I can visibly see my thighs look smaller and my face is thinner, so I'm trying not to get bummed about the scale. Maybe next week will be a great scale week!

Hi All! Louiseei - I'm feeling for your daughter. It seems I used to get a stich whenever I ran as a kid, but I haven't had any since starting this. I was worried that I might. Has anyone had trouble with getting a stich as they move along in the program? spcopps - I hope the tornados all stayed away. We've just had rain…

Thanks for your post - it's very inspiring as I start week 2 next week. When I get to the end of my 60 seconds, I'm thinking "Oh THANK GOD!!!" I'm hoping I can pull off the 90 seconds, but I'm determined to push through it. Today will be my 5th day of the Week 1 cycle and I'm massively proud of myself for running (ok, and…

Thanks for posting this - it's so well written! I went to her blog and at the end of the post there's another great post on running for those of you (like me) who are just starting to run.

Welcome, and yes, this is a great site to keep you focused, get support, and track things easily. People are very nice, there's so much good information, and there's even a cool App for your phone if you're into that sort of thing! Feel free to friend me if you'd like! Best of luck to you!

I'm working with a great weight loss physician, and I've started tracking the following on an excel spreadsheet. I record this every day at the end of the day using a 1-10 scale: 1) Mood 2) Cravings 3) Sleep Quality 4) Quality of Food Eaten 5) Calories Eaten 6) Minutes of Exercise I did something similar to this for a…

Well, my money is on all you fine gentleman with the great looking abs in your photos! That made it worth reading this post in and of itself! I agree with the lady who said "Go Heavy or Go Home" .... Nothing burns up calories like a body full of finely tuned muscles!

I make salmon often and love it. My favorite way is to pour about 1/2 tsp of olive oil on top an move across the fish using the back of the spoon. Sprinke with dill to taste, a small amount of garlic salt, and a small amount of cinnamon/sugar mix. Yes, you get a few calories from the sugar and olive oil, but so tasty. I…

Took the words right out of my mouth....a HUGE success!!! Sometimes those numbers on a scale represent a lot for us. For me, its that darn elusive 199.9 that I need to see. I really thought I'd make it by today, but alas, no. But that's okay, we just keep on keeping on. Because we've come this far, we know we can make it…

That is so fantastic! I can't imagine how many people in your day to day life you must inspire  Your daughter (the older one that shows in the picture) is beautiful, too! What pretty eyes she has:happy:

Agreed! There are many, many types of arrhythmias. The type I have is rate-dependent, meaning it only kicks in with intense exercise (snow shovelling for a long time with heavy snow, push mower uphill, etc). Surprisingly, it hasn't kicked in now that I've started doing the C25K program. However, I had a physical before I…

How's everyone doing? The posts are dropping off :frown: I just did my fourth day of W1. I felt like I was struggling the most versus the first 3 days, but when I got done I realized my run time was anywhere from 30-60 seconds faster than the other days, and I'd shave a minute off the walk times. I didn't know I was going…
