  • You may be able to do power 90 as a beginner. BUT -- when you are a beginner, it's much better to be in a live class where there's a coach or trainer to help you with your form. Otherwise, most people are not aware if they are doing the exercises with proper form or not.
  • If you mean by being a beginner that you are new to exercising, I would not recommend either program. They are both designed for people that already have a good fitness level and want to take it to the next level. Doing programs like that as a beginner will most likely result in injuries Instead, check your local gyms for…
  • I am not spewing hate. I was just letting her know that many Crossfit boxes put a lot of pressure on people to eat Paleo. The OP is a vegetarian, so I thought she might want to know that.
  • Just found an article that talks about Paleo and it's connection with Crossfit. As you can see, the Paleo diet plan is really heavy on meat. http://spousebuzz.com/blog/2013/03/military-crossfit-craze-what-is-the-paleo-diet.html

Just didn't want to see a fellow vegetarian get too deep into a situation where she'd probably get lots of criticism and pressure about her dietary choices. Maybe not all Crossfit boxes push Paleo, but the majority seen to. I…
  • Some carb products such as whole grain bread contain much more nutrition than white bread, but hate and avoidance of carbs is just a fad. I would not put much stock in any diet plan that told you to eliminate entire food groups.
  • I'm not sure exactly what ingredients are used in Slim Fast, but the thing I don't like about most of the shake-type programs is there is usually at least some chemical preservatives, dyes, artificial flavors, etc in them, and I am trying to eat as clean and natural as possible. Sure, I grab a protein shake every now and…
  • Being a vegetarian, you probably won't fit in well with the Crossfit crowd. Once they recruit people and they get past the onramp program, many Crossfits are almost cult-like in pushing the Paleo diet plan-- which is very heavy on meat. Among other activities, I do a boot camp class a few times a week. It has about 10 or…
