Very well done! And good luck on your test next month. I love that you are paying it forward.

I don't count my miles. I just replace them when my shins are achy after a run. I'm only on my second pair this year and I run all year long.

I think it's a great place for a person to start weight lifting. You learn proper form and the classes are fun. My problem with it is that it got boring for me. I did Group Power, not Body Pump, but I believe they are similar. We did the same order of exercises every single time. The instructors had favorite songs so we…

What an awesome comeback! You've obviously worked hard and not let your injury define you. Congratulations!!!

From my college days it's the generic white can that just said Beer on it. More recently, I can't stand Summer Shandy. I think it's just gross and whenever I have a party over the summer, people always bring it.

I love my wine but only drink it on the weekends. My husband and I belong to a wine club at a local wine store. They have tastings every Friday and Saturday and we find some great wines there. Most nights they have 6 wines to try but once a month they have a big event with 25 to 30 different wines to try plus appetizers.…

That's awesome - you should be so proud of yourself!

I do think it's worth it. I've made huge gains in confidence, strength and knowledge since working with a trainer. A year commitment is ridiculous though! I am currently doing small group training twice a week. I sign up for 4 week sessions and the cost is $15 a session for a total of $120. If I could afford one on one…

Awesome story - thank you for sharing. And you look amazing!!!

Woo hoo! Congratulations!!!

I read a book by Jeff Galloway that I really liked. I also followed Hal Higdon's training program. I think you will get the best information from your group though - information they give you and your training runs with them. The group I ran with sent out weekly emails with lots of information and the pace leaders were all…

This. And it wouldn't hurt to carry pepper spray. I run with two dogs and we've had quite a few dogs run after us. So far, they've all been friendly and usually just seem to want to run with us. I had a rott attack my dog once on a walk. He bit down on my dog's neck and held him down. If he wanted to kill my dog he could…

ETA: I just saw this quote this morning and it reminded me of this a bit: "It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice in your head that wants you to quit." - George Sheehan [/quote] I love this quote!

Fleet Feet is a good choice. Just don't go somewhere like Sports Authority.

That is so awesome! Congratulations!!!

In addition to some car accidents, I called when I was living with my sister and her husband was choking. She performed the Heimlich before the paramedics got there and he was fine. I called when my ex-husband had his first grand mal seizure. I also called when working at a grocery store and a customer had a seizure. I…

I think that he is just doing this now to up his chances of getting out on parole - he wants to try to show the board that he is a changed man and thinks that if the girls are back in his life, that will make him look better. Speak with an attorney before making a decision about responding to him. If he does get out and…

How did I miss this back in January??? Congratulations on an amazing job! You look fantastic - so happy and healthy in that profile picture.

I feel sorry for the workers that have no place to go to the bathroom.

When I run I am basically a Nike advertisement. Everything is Nike except for my Under Armour underwear. For the gym I buy things all over - Target, Kohl's, Sports Authority, ****'s, Marshalls and Old Navy. It has to be moisture wicking.

Well done! I love stories of people setting goals and doing everything to attain them. Very inspiring. And your wife sounds pretty impressive too!

I had knee pain when running caused by my IT band. I now roll it out with one of those foam rollers and my knee pain is gone. Rolling it really hurts at first but the more you do it, the less it hurts. Here is a web page I found with some good info: http://sportsmedicine.about.com/od/kneepainandinjuries/a/IT_Band_Pain.htm

You look fantastic and should definitely claim it - you earned it! Thanks for sharing.

Awesome progress!

If I'm running 3-4 miles in the early morning, I either don't eat or have something small like a Special K bar. If I'm running a long distance in the morning, a slice of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and jelly about 1.5 to 2 hours before is the perfect meal for me. It doesn't upset my stomach, I don't get hungry on…

Thank you for sharing your pictures - you are so inspiring! I wish I were half as brave as you!

I haven't read everyone's posts so I don't know if someone suggested this but I take glucosamine every day for my joints. I didn't really notice an improvement but if I don't take it for a few days, my joints definitely complain. Also, I have arthritis in my right foot. It bothers me when I walk but doesn't bother me when…

What a great opportunity! I've completely gotten off track food wise. I need to get back to counting every calorie and eating clean. The struggle will be baseball. My son has games a minimum of 6 days a week and we often get home late and just pick up take out. Even if I make a healthy choice, the sodium kills me. I have…

Congratulations on getting married! I looked at your profile to check out your dress, which is beautiful, and see that we live in the same area. There are just too many good restaurants around here! But you can do this. I still enjoy the good restaurants and fried food occasionally - I just make sure I have the calories…
