  • The foods and exercise databases are pretty thorough. If there happens to be something you can't find there is an option to add a food or exercise. I use a heart rate monitor for my exercise so I calculate my calories accurately. When choosing your foods off of the database always check the nutritional information because…
  • Going over in fiber is no biggie. I don't worry about protein either. I focus on calories, carbs, fats, and sodium. I had to change some by hand because the values given my MFP were not matching up with the Recommended Daily Allowance of certain nutrients. It had my carbs figured outrageously high!
  • This is a lifestyle change, not a diet! A diet is temporary and has a start and finish. A lifestyle change is ongoing...
  • I have been on it and had the same problem. It caused me to have a rapid heart rate, dizziness, feeling of anxiousness, light headedness...I quickly built up a tolerance to it, meaning my dose needed to be increased in order to get the same affect. It also gave me insomnia. I also had withdrawal symptoms from it too. I had…
  • I log everything I eat...squirt of ketchup, mustard, Stevia packet, mushrooms, creamer in coffee.....if it goes in my mouth it gets logged. I log things not only to keep track of calories, but also other nutritional info like protein and sodium.
  • I don't see any pics? Did they get messed up when you tried to upload them or did moderators remove them?
  • Even if you eat the way the Alli plan suggests you will still **** your pants! I would lose weight taking it if I knew I would **** on myself every time I ate something. I don't suggest it.
  • I remember my mom taking them years ago when she went to the Diet Center. I don't know if they still use them for weight loss or not.
  • My grandma, who is 85...and her mind is not all there at times...she told me, "now that you're losing weight you will be pretty again"! I told her, "Nana, I was pretty when I was at my biggest too." She didn't say anything. She made me feel like I was some ugly woman before I started losing weight. I forgive her though,…
  • That is just wrong! I wonder if he goes to the bathroom in his diaper?
  • All the time!! I will say, "do you realize there are 500 calories in that" and they put their hand up and say, "shut up...I don't even want to know".
  • Yes! I find it difficult tool I have Zumba for the Wii. I feel like I have 2 left feet when I do it. I can't do all the gyrating and hip action that they do. I have made it through a 20 minute workout...but I feel like I am not doing it right. I am glad I can learn it in the privacy of my own living room and not in front…
  • Are you only eating 1200 and exercising or are you eating 1200 plus your exercise calories? You need to net 1200 calories. Eating below 1200 calories will stall your weight loss. For example...if you eat 1200 and with exercise you burn 400 that is a net of 800, so then you need to eat back an additional 400 calories. If…
  • I log as I go. If I wait until later I always forget something. It is pretty convenient because I can do it from my laptop or my phone. Make sure you log everything....like condiments.
  • Creamy Italian dressing...it got me in trouble today!
  • This is a site I use. http://www.nutristrategy.com/caloriesburned.htm
  • My son is serving in Afghanistan at the Pakistan border. It scares me as to what is coming next. I am glad Osama is dead, but I feel like we just stirred a hornet's nest.
  • Yes! If it has calories and goes in your mouth it gets logged.
  • Invest in a heart rate monitor. I have a Polar FT4 and I love it.. It was only $69. It has a chest strap...I recommend one with a chest strap. It is not uncomfortable. Ones that don't have chest straps are not accurate. Mine is easy to use. That is the only way you are going to accurately calculate how many calories you…
  • I had a bad case of shin splints a couple of months ago. They were terrible!! I was in so much pain it was unreal. I honestly thought I had a stress fracture. I went to the doctor and she recommended the R.I.C.E. treatment...Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. She gave me strict orders to stay off my feet for 2 weeks. I…
  • I have one and I love it! It is nice to have something that accurately figures your calories burned based on your personal information. I have found that some of the figures in the MFP exercise database are way off from what I actually burn when exercising. I have a Polar FT4 and I even wear it in the pool. It is easy to…
  • Adipex is not a magic pill! I have been on it before. It is addictive. You will begin to build a tolerance to it and soon the dose you are taking now will not work. You will need more to get the same effect you are getting now. Even if you don't feel it, it causes tachycardia (fast heart rate) and can elevate the blood…
  • The exercises in the database are not based on any specific weight. They are just general. They are not customized to your weight. I bought a heart rate monitor and found that the MFP exercise database's figures are way high!! Some are as much as 3 times what I actually burn using my HRM. I rarely use the database anymore.…
  • A "NSV" is a "non-scale victory"...like getting rid of a double chin. "Bump" is when you see a topic you are interested in but don't want to reply to at the time. You reply "bump" and it then is saved on your profile page for viewing later. :flowerforyou:
  • I have the same HRM. I am surprised sometimes at how much lower the calories it says I burn compared to what MFP's exercise database suggests. I just make sure my heart rate is within the target range. I also make sure it continually picks up my heart rate. I am not sure myself. I know what you mean by being depressed…
  • Do they make bras with built in HRM's? I have a HRM. Its a polar FT4. It is simple and and it was only $62. It is accurate and super easy to use. I even wear it in the pool.
  • The first thing I see is that you took in about 1400 calories. If you burn 600 from exercise, that is only a net of 800 calories. That is not enough calories. Eat back enough of your exercise calories so that your net is not below 1200. Your weight loss will quickly come to a halt if you don't take in enough calories.
  • Can you tell us a little about yourself please? Your profile if blank. How did you find MFP, what are some of your goals, challenges, etc.?
  • That is awesome girl! I can make it one lap running and then I do 3 walking. I don't think I could make it 10 minutes. Keep up the good work! You have a lot to be proud of!
  • If you either have a HRM or have an idea of what you are burning you can enter those calories into the exercise database. I put it under cardiovascular. Put what you want in the search box (30 day shred for example). It is going to say, "not found". If you scroll down to the bottom of that screen it will have a box that…
