  • I've never been to a corner store that had all that. I have three of them in walking distance from where I live and all they carry are chips, soda, a few canned goods, snacks like peanuts or cashews, cookies, pre-made burgers and hot dogs, donuts, gum, candy, and lots of other stuff that is not very good for you. Maybe…
  • I am diabetic too. I also have high cholesterol. No matter what I eat my cholesterol is always high. It is because of the diabetes. The two are directly connected. It is not how you are eating. Here is a web article about it. I never knew the link between the two. I am on two different meds for my cholesterol. I couldn't…
  • Don't give up, you can do this! Think of how long it took you to gain your weight. If you are anything like me...my weight started creeping up many many years ago. It is going to take time to get it off. I plateaued for nearly 3 weeks and then I upped my calories to 1400, focusing on low carb, high protein. Your body gets…
  • Yes, I have a pet. Actually, she is my best friend!! Her name is Sweetpea and she is my side kick! She is my service dog and she has been faithfully by my side for almost 7 years. She is a little toy rat terrier. She goes everywhere I go....Walmart, the gym, church, the hair salon.....you never see me without her. She is…
  • For the water....what about a camel pack? Those come in all different sizes and because they are worn like a back pack it would keep your hands free. I have to have water when I jog/ run. I take a medication that causes cotton mouth and if I don't have water with me my tongue literally sticks to the roof of my…
  • Baked potatoes are ok in moderation. As far as rice and pasta....if you have to eat them eat whole wheat, not white. However, I was able to slowly move away from rice and pasta. Once I did I stopped craving them. They are loaded with so many carbs and a serving is very small. To me it is not worth wasting my calories or…
  • I have posted many times about about my HRM...asking questions about it and I was asking for advice as to which one to purchase before I got it. I never got any of my posts deleted. I just don't think you can advertise something for monetary gain. For example, I saw a lady that kept advertising her ebay stuff on here...and…
  • It would be easier to help and make suggestions if you had your food and exercise diaries open so we could see them.
  • Pediasure is full of vitamins and minerals and it comes in chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. It tastes yummy and you can add ice cream to it to make a milkshake. The pediasure will provide any nourishment that may be lost from not eating a big variety of foods.
  • I do include my breast measurements and I measure at the center of my breast and around to my back....I wear my bra so the girls are up where they're supposed to be. I'm not sure if this is the right way to measure, but this is how my sister and I measured when we started.
  • I wear my heart rate monitor. If I see what I am doing gets my heart rate is up into the target range, then I count the activity as exercise. If whatever I am doing doesn't get my heart rate up, I don't count it.
  • I am reading a book right now called Bod4God. In it the author lost over 100 pounds. He says he would choose one meal a week that he would eat what he wanted to. I don't think a whole day is a good idea. It would be too easy to continue eating what you want into the next day. The more you start eating healthy the easier it…
  • They are also full of chemicals, things like MSG, nitrates, high fructose corn syrup, modified food starch and tons of stuff you can't pronounce. A general rule of thumb, if you can't pronounce it, it probably isn't good for you.
  • High sodium intake is linked to many more things other than heart disease. http://www.healthyrevelations.com/articles/Nutrition/dangersofsalt.aspx
  • I wish I could help you!! We have them here in Indiana. Where I shop they carry garden vegetable, salsa, and tomato. Maybe ask Starbucks what brand they use and then google it....unless all their food is Starbuck's brand. Sorry. :frown:
  • Make sure you are logging EVERYTHING you eat. Every dab of ketchup, mustard, splash of creamer, dollop of sour cream, salad dressing...it all adds up and fast! Log in that batter you are eating too. Yes, you should measure your food. I have 2 sets of measuring cups, a set of measuring spoons, and a food scale in my…
  • I made my boneless skinless chicken breasts into into strips and seasoned them with no sodium taco seasoning that I got from the health food store. I am out of money until the 3rd of next month...so I didn't have everything I would have liked to put into it (veggies), but I put it in low carb, whole wheat tortillas with no…
  • Have you ever tried spaghetti squash? I use it instead of pasta. It has 66 calories for 8 oz and only 10 carbs. 8 oz of spaghetti squash is considered one serving. 8 oz. of pasta has over 500 calories and over 100 carbs. A serving size of pasta is only 2 ounces. I don't think I will ever go back.
  • I went to that site and it said I should be eating between 1800 and 2100 calories a day for extreme fat loss. I eat 1400 right now. I just can't see myself eating that many calories and continuing to lose weight. I was on an 1800 ADA diet with my last pregnancy because of gestational diabetes. I couldn't even fit enough…
  • I ate a whole box of Ho-Ho's once (Swiss Rolls). :noway: I love peeling the chocolate off the outside and then unrolling the cake part and licking the cream out, then eating the cake. I eat each one the same way! So sinful! I also ate an entire rack of baby back ribs once too!! Forgive me Father, for I have sinned!!
  • I had to start out like that....10 minutes here and 10 minutes there. I have many health problems and that is all I could tolerate at first. Then I started going 12 minutes, then the next time I would aim for 15. I have built up to 35-45 minutes. Give your body time to adjust to exercise. If you are anything like me, you…
  • A good idea is to take off the top bread and then cut the bottom bread with all the ingredients on it in half and then put that together like a sandwich. Their bread is so high in carbs. I have seen some people post sandwiches from Subway that were over 800 calories and I have seen them posted that were only 300. You just…
  • When you exercise MFP automatically adds back "exercise calories". So...if you eat 1200 but then burn 400 exercising, your net becomes 800 and you are able to eat the 400 back for a net of 1200. I have learned to eat back most of my exercise calories. If you don't, several days under your calorie goal will make your weight…
  • I hate the "O" word!! It sounds like the "F" word or something. Hearing that word makes me cringe.
  • I just looked and there is a difference in mine too. My BMR is 1633 and my calories burn from normal daily activity is over 2300 calories. A big difference. Now you have me to wondering the same thing...lol!
  • Don't go unless you want to blow it for the day!! IHOP is a hard place to go and eat healthy. Good luck!

  • Some of the games are really fun. The only thing I don't like is that most of the games on the game that comes with Wii fit last a few minutes, so if you are wanting to exercise 30 minutes, it takes some time to build up 30 minutes given each session only lasts 1-3 minutes. Some of the games are really fun though...one of…
  • Every restaurant has to provide nutritional information if you ask for it. Have you checked to see if there is any entered in the database here from other people? I try to pre-plan, but if you can't find the nutritional info that is gonna be hard. I know at Applebee's even some of their salads had over 700 calories. I have…
  • I had to go and customize my goals. The goals MFP put were not what my doctor/ registered dietician recommended. Also, here is a website where you can calculate what your daily protein intake should be: http://www.calculatorslive.com/Daily-Protein-Intake-Calculator.aspx Going over in protein is not a bad thing. It isn't…
  • The easiest way to do it is go to "meals" under the "foods" tab. There it will let you name the meal...so say its "chicken salad". Then you enter each ingredient separately....chicken, mayo, etc. Save it as a meal, so from now on when you make that sandwich it is already saved and when you enter the meal, it will…
