Definitely worth the money if you find one who's knowledgeable and more interested in your goals than his/her own. Mine is worth his weight in gold. I've been working with him for 6 weeks and have lost 8.25 in. so far. He's constantly watching my form and correcting it any time I'm not paying attention (which he's having…

Very odd. Seems to have the opposite effect on me. Not sure if there any correlation to sweeteners (as a previous poster was questioning), but I use rock sugar in my tea. I must drink 5 or so cups a day.

OMG, I thought I was the only one! LOL I read those replies and so want to just shake those people. And yes, we can say something but it's going to fall on deaf ears. It's not what they want to hear. They're going to defend the drops and that method because they desperately want to believe it's the fast and easy fix…

That's awesome, True! So glad you were able to get out for a bit and it doesn't seem to have bothered your leg. Here's hoping you're finally seeing some progress with healing.

Hmmm...he wouldn't be attending Interop 2013 by any chance would he? LOL

' Works for me. Who doesn't like to be told they can eat even more? LOL My weight does dip down into the 129's on occasion but 130.6 seems to be where my body is happy most often. Today it's up to 131.4 but I added a few new exercises/lifts yesterday and some of my muscles are feeling the pain. Thanks for the encouragement…

Girl, I eat ice cream all the time. Nothing is off limits as long as it fits the macros. Good Morning, ladies! I'm taking DH to the airport in a bit. He's heading to Vegas to present at a conference. We tried to work it out so I could go with him but the folks that would normally watch our DD for us are out of town. So…

Unless you happen to have an intolerance, allergy or however you want to define it, to them. I cannot take Splenda (sucralose). If I do, even so little as a piece of Trident gum, I will have what my oncologist has described as "rip the muscle off the bone' leg cramping that night. It only happens when I ingest sucralose.…

The 1,200 calorie diet. Worked great initially. Lost weight, had lots of energy. Figured all these 'experts' on MFP were wrong and it really was the answer. I was pretty proud of myself for being able to sustain such a low calorie intake. I wasn't hungry. My body got used to subsisting on such a low calorie count that…

Calorie deficit and calorie surplus are the differences between the number of calories you burn versus the number of calories you eat. If you burn more than you consume, you're eating at a deficit. If you consume more than you burn, you're eating at a surplus.

I truly was lost on what direction to take when I posted last month and your advice has proven to be spot on. Thank you!!! I'm going to repost some original stats (along with the new ones) so you guys have everything in one place and don't have to scroll up and down. Average Daily Values: Feb. 10th - March 9th: Calories…

I 2nd this True! I need to update my intake thread but you already know what their advice has done for me this past month. I had the same concerns you do when I first started strength training but you can do this!!

With all due respect Connie, you're misinformed. Weight is not a good indicator of body fat. I weigh 130lbs and in November I tested out with 30% body fat. The number on the scale is only one indication of health, there are many other factors at play.

I've heard great things about Zumba. Sadly, I'm ridiculously uncoordinated and fear that one is out of my reach.

You're asking if I wish I had never had cancer? Is this a trick question? The answer is a resounding hell yes!!!! I can think of any manner of better ways to learn life's lessons than to have 18 months of my life stolen from me. I can think of about a million different things I'd rather do than have to look into the…

Yes, because the values on the box are for dry weight. As long as you weighed it prior to cooking and you only ate that amount, you're good to go.
-
It doesn't matter what the pasta ended up weighing after it was cooked. If you measured it dry and came up with 11 oz then that's the weight you use when determining the calorie count. If you ate all of the 11oz you measured out then you multiply the values on the nutrition label by 5.5 (11.5 oz is 5.5 servings). According…

Interesting. He is an older gentleman (easily in his 50's) so while the need for specific speed training may have validity, I tend to think that isn't the case with him. You never know though I suppose. Maybe I'll work up enough nerve to ask him on Monday. He doesn't work with a trainer but does his own thing so I don't…

Thanks, Sara! I wondered what his reasoning could be. He doesn't appear to have a lot of body fat from what I can tell. I also never see him doing any cardio work though so maybe he is trying to combine the two in some fashion.

Girl, I don't think you should be embarrassed by those counts AT ALL. How many of us here do you think can do 33 pushups or 54 situps properly in 2 minutes? I have such poor upper body strength that I can't do even one real pushup. I'm working on it and can see improvement but as I said...can't do a one. Now, situps I can…
-
Wow!! What does 90% pushups and 77% situps equate to? Other than a whole heck of a lot more than I can do? :blushing:

Hubby laughed at me when I bought a pocket scale but much less restaurant stress for me when I have a more accurate idea of what I'm eating. No it isn't perfect since I'm not 100% sure how it was prepared but it helps.

You can find 'research' to back just about any supposition if you look for it. For example: http://cancerres.aacrjournals.org/content/71/13/4484.full (A Low Carbohydrate, High Protein Diet Slows Tumor Growth and Prevents Cancer Initiation - Copyright © 2013 American Association for Cancer Research). I've no idea the…

Best of luck to you tomorrow, Michele!! What all does the PT test involve?

Anything. Everything in moderation.

Best thing you can do for yourself is give your body time to heal, True - as frustrating at that is. Don't want to end up side-lining yourself for even longer. No exercise for me yesterday :(. I'm fighting off a cold (at least I think it's a cold, and not something more. The way I'm feeling it's possible it might be a mild…

It's definitely doable...even at our age. I'm post menopausal due to chemotherapy treatments. Strike one. On Tamoxifen which is known to inhibit/prevent weight loss. Strike two. And have a fair amount of muscle loss from inactivity during a year of treatment for cancer. Strike three. And yet I lost 12lbs in just a couple…

Calories Carbs Fat Protein Fiber Sodium The above for me too. I'm afraid to track sugar :blushing:. I went with sodium for the same reason as the rest of you. To try and get a handle on what and how things affect my body. And fiber just to make sure I was getting enough (also...see previous statement re: sugar. LOL)…

Just a reminder...'No.' is a complete sentence. To be polite, add 'Thank you' either before or after.

Sorry Julia....I think I'm a thread killer
