My go-to on-the-go breakfast: Peanut butter and jelly on P28 protein bread. I carry it in a ziploc sandwich bag and only pull out enough at a time to take a bite. Any jelly spills fall back into the bag.

Very interested here as well.

Heavens, you're right. Didn't that think one through long enough did I? My goodness, we are judgemental, aren't we? Relax buddy...I was multitasking and didn't read closely enough. My bad.

Last time I checked, the First Amendment hadn't yet been repealed. Time to seek other employment.

Gotcha. I did end up buying it. I think it will be great for what I want it for. I don't expect it to replace the free weights at all. Hopefully just enhace them a bit.

We drove out tonight to take a look at it. It seems to be very well made. The bench itself isn't moveable but it is 'positionable'. The incline changes so you can mimic an overhead press, as well as work other muscle groups. And you can face the rear instead of front and do additional exercises that way. I believe the leg…

I am currently doing a program with 90% free weights, which includes squats, deadlifts etc. The only machine I use at this point is one for weight assisted pullups. I was thinking this would be a nice extra. And would be safer for my 13yr old to get started with.

They're asking $300.

I've been dealing with a triple whammy (Age, medically induced early menopause & Tamoxifen) for the last few years. Highest weight was 170, got down to 130. Diagnosed with cancer and pretty much spent a year on the couch (allergic to the chemo drugs). Post cancer weight 145 and fairly non-existent muscle when all was said…

I don't understand this idea of picking and choosing what to log and what not to log. Doesn't leaving out any food (regardless of the reason for doing so) kind of negate the whole purpose of calorie counting? Wny go to all the trouble of weighing/measuring/logging your intake, only to leave some out? Doesn't make sense to…

My all-time favorite machine: Weight Assisted Pull-up/Dips. I think I've gotten more benefit from using that machine than any of the others.

Not necessarily. I already deducted the caloric burn for the post workout cardio. The 350 is just for the 10 min. warm-up, which is generally around a 50 - 65 calorie burn plus the lifting session. Also, the 1 - 1.5 hr session is lifting time only.
-
Just to offer as a point of reference, my BodyMedia Link records a calorie burn of roughly 350 (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less) during my lifting sessions (between 1 to 1.5 hrs duration). Note that this does include a 10 minute warmup on the treadmill and a 20 min, 4mph (#4 elevation) walk afterward.

That stinks!! So sorry you're feeling so lousy...and that it's hanging on so long. BTDT and it's so incredibly frustrating :(. Hang in there!

We like the Skinny Cow ice cream products here. Can't beat the taste and it's lower in cals and fat that most.

What a lovely post. Thank you! My father served in the Air Force, my mother and nephew in the Army. Thankfully all three are still with us, though many of their friends are not. Something I posted on my news feed this morning: Amid your celebrations today, take a moment to remember and honor those who gave their lives so…

Whether you should or shouldn't tell anyone/everyone about a terminal illness is an individual decision. Different people are going to have different perspectives. Neither one is right or wrong. But an individual's decision should be respected. It's not about anyone else but themselves. It's their life that's ending. They…

I didn't say you should only get it if all your exercise is step-based....and I didn't say someone shouldn't get a Fibit...what I said was if your exercise is primarily step based the Fitbit is a useful device. If your exercise isn't primarily step-based there are other trackers that do a better job with that type of…

I received a Fitbit as a Christmas gift. Tried it for a week. Bought a BodyMedia armband and used both the Fitbit and the Bodymedia armband together for a week. Returned the Fitbit and kept the more accurate Bodymedia. It depends on the type of exercise you do. If you primarily do step based exercise the Fitbit is a useful…

My fitness trainer mentioned last week that a good goal to work up to and aim for is a 2 minute plank. He has me doing them in sets of 3 with a short rest in between.

There isn't anything on that list I wouldn't eat (well, except sloppy joes only because I don't like them). For me it's about portion control. I weigh everything and rarely have more than 1 serving of anything (unless it's ice cream :blushing:. It's tough when you're cooking for your family and doubly so when you're…

A quick update to say 'Thank you!' for the push to rtalencar85. I talked to my trainer on Friday and told him I wanted to move away from the machines to primarily free weights. His eyes lit up. For whatever reason, he was under the impression that I preferred the machines. He told me he much prefers free weights and we got…

When you explain it that way it makes sense to me. Thank you. I wonder how many folks are really understanding what MFP is trying to tell them.

I think the OP's statement of 1375 being the lowest possible meant for her particularly. She mentioned using several different calculators to figure her BMR and the lowest value for her range was 1375. And I think you're right about the 1lb a week setting. Seems like anyone who selects losing 2lbs a week is given a caloric…

Good for you, Todd! I'm taking a hiatus. When I started lifting back in August I hurt my back. Finally have gotten that straightened around and am building up muscle strength before I return to class. But I miss it a great deal. I'm really looking forward to going back.
