Hoist Fitness Equipment?

Anyone know anything about a Hoist V4 Fitness System? I ran across a listing for this item on Craigslist and am considering buying.

I am not familiar with it, and this is personal bias, but I would wait for a power cage/squat rack and free weights. Are you doing a program that incorporates compound lifts?

I am currently doing a program with 90% free weights, which includes squats, deadlifts etc. The only machine I use at this point is one for weight assisted pullups. I was thinking this would be a nice extra. And would be safer for my 13yr old to get started with.

If it is an extra, and you have the space and money, I would go for it personally. I has some nice things you can use for assistance exercises. I would however check if the leverages are moveable - they look like they may not be so some of the 'extras' may not be good, like the leg extension. Also, another limitation looks to be the non moveable bench which limits the use of the high cable.

We drove out tonight to take a look at it. It seems to be very well made. The bench itself isn't moveable but it is 'positionable'. The incline changes so you can mimic an overhead press, as well as work other muscle groups. And you can face the rear instead of front and do additional exercises that way. I believe the leg extension is removable and is also adjustable for leg curls (in addition to extensions) and has an ankle cuff for leg raises. Of all the machines I've tried at the gym the only one it seems not to be able to accommodate for is the leg press (but then, I do squats anyway) and the assisted pull ups (<--hopefully won't need that one too much longer).

What do you think might be limited as far as the bench/high cable issue?

The bench is in the way so it restricts a bunch of exercises - you may be able to do them to the side or in front of the bench, depending on how long the pulley it - but it may not be ideal. Not a huge issue, more an annoyance probably.

Gotcha. I did end up buying it. I think it will be great for what I want it for. I don't expect it to replace the free weights at all. Hopefully just enhace them a bit.

I think it a good addition to be honest. It gives you more flexibility.
