Interesting point of view from this article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2326318/Brave-yes-Angelina-Jolie-misleading-women-.html "Brave or deluded? If Angelina wanted to set a more honest example, she would not behave like Lara Croft. She would slow down, take time to recuperate and nurture herself back to…

Good grief.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. Not sure how that correlates to the claims that I said members shouldn't suggest improvements or wish for a functional site though. I wish for a lot of things. What I don't do is feel entitled to them, especially when they are freely provided. Nor do I grouse and look for a way to complain…

Where did I say that members shouldn't suggest improvements? Where did I say that members shouldn't wish for a functional site? I didn't say either of those things. And in answer to your question, what I find absurd is the notion that one can make demands of a service provided them at no charge. We are all free to come and…

"Hurry up and fix it" "Looking for a place to complain" Seriously?? Sorry to infringe on your sense of entitlement folks but since you seem to have forgotten, the owners of MFP provide you with this service for FREE. It's their site. Not yours. If they want to make changes, improvements or scrap it altogether that's up to…

I appreciate your willingness to consider another point of view. I bring it up when I see these posts because I was able to ingest sucralose/splenda for a long time before I started having problems with it. As I said, it took months to pinpoint the cause. It's just something for people to consider if they find themselves…

What's really a shame is resorting to the juvenality of name calling when someone expresses an opinion other than your own, regardless of who's right or wrong.

I'm a bit hesitent to eat much more the night before because I'm already pretty much eating at maintenance. I guess in my mind I don't mind eating a little more the day of the workout because I feel like I've earned it with the extra calorie expenditure. Maybe that's not a valid concern on my part, I don't know. I'm still…

You copy and paste this same post every time the question of artifical sweeteners come up. A blanket statement that there is absolutely nothing wrong with them is simply not true. You won't get sick, you won't get cancer and you certainly won't get fat. The fact of the matter is that these substances can and do impact…

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to talk to him on Friday and see if we can't sort this out a bit better. It's not that he doesn't like squats. He does. Just not with a barbell. But he loves plie squats with a kettlebell. I really would like to move away from some of the machines and focus more on free weights. He's pretty…

I do use some free weights for bicep curls, overhead presses and RDL's (all dumb bells). He said he's not a fan of barbells when you know you have one stonger and one weaker side. The stronger side tends to try and compensate. He said he prefers dumb bells to force the weaker side to do the work. He's also said that he's…

I tend to eat a little more, 100 - 200 cals on lifting days because I find I'm much hungrier. Although I generally wait until the end of the night to eat any extra. Maybe I should make a point of eating a bit extra after the workout? Maybe that would give me more energy?
-
For the rep range, he said if I could do between 15 - 20 then my weight was too low and I could increase it. If the reps were under 15 then the weight was at a good point. As far as the rationale for doing so, after talking with him throughout the session I think he's under the impression that my main goal is to gain…

I talked to my trainer today, telling him how wiped out I've been feeling after my lifting sessions. His reply: "Then we're doing something wrong." He said I should feel like I worked out but still be able to go about an average day afterward. He said we have a number of options: 1) I can continue with the workout I have,…

It would put additional burden and regulation on the law abiding gun owner. The law abiding gun owners aren't the problem. Not one of the shooting incidents that have occured were perpetrated by a law abiding gun owner. Not one of them would have been stopped by additional back ground checks. It does nothing to solve the…

I have the Jay Robb vanilla and chocolate. The vanilla is my favorite. It makes a great protein shake with greek yogurt, frozen fruit and kefir flavored milk. This from someone who really detests greek yogurt otherwise. My 13 yr old asks for them for dessert sometimes. I've only tried the chocolate once and didn't care for…

I didn't say the subject matter wasn't important. I said the arguing over what Angelina Jolie's intentions were, isn't important. Debating the fact of was she, or was she not brave to go public, isn't important. My apologies on that front if I didn't make that clear. And before you get your knickers in too much of a twist,…

People cope in different ways. Maybe this was her way of coping. Maybe attempting to take a negative situation and turn it into something positive makes it easier for her to deal with. Making the decision to have a mastectomy is not something one does lightly. It's a very difficult decision. If it's one that you've never…

We haven't really talked about nutrition other than his concern that I get enough protein each day and to make a point of getting some in during that hour window after a workout. I just checked the last two weeks worth and I'm averaging 212 g carbs on lift days. No clue whether that's sufficient or not. I generally pay…

Thanks for your perspective. I get what you're saying and can see how that could be an issue with a trainer. Honestly, I don't think this particular one would see it that way. He's very laid back and very approachable. He truly just wants to help people. Plus, wanting to wean off the machines wouldn't be a surprise to him.…

I never said they weren't common side effects. In fact, I said they were. That doesn't mean everyone is going to experience them all, nor to the same degree. Your all or nothing response was misleading.

One MAY experience all or none of those symptoms. Not WILL. No drug affects everyone the same. I don't recall having increased energy. I do recall the false euphoria at times and the moodiness at other times. There were times when my husband commented that I become a different person when taking it. But that is typically…

Prednisone is a wonderful drug in that it does the job it's designed to do. However, there can be some very unpleasant side effects associated with it. Seems the most noticeable and common are insomnia and increased appetite. A 5 day course is very short but even on that I would see side effects when I take it. The golden…

Yes. I do the same as above 3 x a week. And I work with the trainer every session. I don't know if it has any bearing on why he's given me this particular list of lifts/exercises or not, but I had fairly low muscle mass and strength when we started 6 weeks ago. To give you an idea, when doing alternating bicep curls I…

Awesome! Thank you! And no worries, no offense taken. I asked because I'm looking for advice. I stated what I did re: my trainer to be fair to him since I've not brought this up to him. He's a great guy who's been in the fitness industry for 30+ years. He's incredibly knowledgeable and I've no doubt that he knows his stuff…

I would love to hear what you have in mind. I don't mind spending the time in the gym but if my workout could be more efficient and get me out of there sooner, I'm all for that. I haven't mentioned to my trainer how wiped out I am after a session. All he knows is that I really want to work hard so that's what he's given me…

Hi Sara, Right now I'm working with a combination of machines and free weights. As far as the machines go I do 3 x 12 of each of the following: Leg Press Leg Extension Leg Curl Triceps Extention Triceps Pull Down Vertical Chess Press Vertical Row Ab machine (sorry, can't remember what this is called off the top of my head)…
