Seems to be working again :)

Banks, that link you posted yesterday worked just fine. I tried it today and now I get a google search page instead of the chat site.

Thanks for sharing, it sounds delicious!

I'm in the same boat, due to surgery years ago. I'm working really hard to hit 1,300 cals each day but it's tough. Sent you a friend request :).

My initial reaction was absolutely the pink one, it looks fabulous on you! But my second thought was...isn't there some rule about not showing up the bride? So, maybe the black one. LOL

I would ask your Trainer to explain the concepts of BMR, TDEE and Metabolic Slowdown to you and see if they can then justify a daily 1200 calorie intake. I'm guessing they wouldn't be able to.

Sadly, it's the nature of the game. When you get such a mass congregation of people in one place there are always going to be those with stronger personalities and those with weaker ones. Folks who don't care what they say and how they say it, those who recoil at the first hint of criticism and every level in between. Add…

Seems to be recognizing my username/password now without re-registering each time. Will check it out later when I have some time to spend.

I set mine to sedentary so I can keep my exercise calories separate. But then...I have control issues LOL.

Banks, I signed onto the chat room but after about 30 seconds I get bumped out. When I try to sign back in it tells me my username/password are invalid and I have to re-register. Tried it with two different browsers (Chrome and IE) and the same thing keeps happening. Any ideas?

This is one downside I've noticed on MFP. The site is so active that threads can travel down and off the first page so quickly that a lot of great info can get missed unless you have the time to go through several pages in each category.

Just to offer a little perspective, I was eating 1200 cals or less (for the last 16 yrs) and at varying times, VERY SLOWLY losing weight, not losing at all or gaining weight. Not only was the weight coming off slowly, I was tired and cranky as well. Although not hungry a lot of the time. On 9/3/12 I read a number of…

So, if I'm going all the way down to where my thighs touch my calves I'm going too far? Sorry, I'm new to this whole lifting thing and just trying to make sure I don't injure myself.

Thanks for the link, Banks! I have a question for you though, I was under the impression that squats are supposed to be done with the hips dropping below parallel, not keeping the knees at the 90 angle. Are there two schools of thought on this and is one better than the other or is it just personal preference?

Hi Steph :) My husband is from Massapequa and I'm from Upstate NY. That close enough? LOL

There are disclaimers all over MFP stating "Posts by members, moderators and admins should not be considered medical advice and no guarantee is made against accuracy." I get that you're frustrated with your situation but I think that the real lesson that you should be taking away from this is that advice is just that,…

Not so sure about this one. It gave me a BMR 300+ calories higher than any other calculator I've tried. Total energy expended was also significantly high.

I posted about this one I found yesterday. Seems to reflect the values I get on my HRM pretty closely. http://www.mygraphite.com/free-tools/exercise-calorie-calculator

I for one don't mind at all. The more the merrier! :)

Ditto, nope you shouldn't be. Sounds like you might benefit from having your instructor take a look at your form. Very frustrating though :(.

Hello :) You'll find a lot of disagreement as to whether 1200 cal. a day is too low or not. My personal opinion: Yes, it is. I found these three posts to be very informative. Have a look at them and see if they help you all. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12…

Just saw this post and sent you a FR. My 12 yr old is a black belt. I'm currently at blue. Love it!! TKD is actually the reason I am here. I'm looking to get into better shape and add strength so I can make the most out of class.

Thanks for your post, Tameko. I am doing just that. Sadly, until I came here and read some of these posts from the last couple of weeks, I didn't realize that this was my problem. I couldn't understand why, when I am only able to consume a finite amount of food, was I still overweight. It all makes total sense to me now.…

I think some people are misunderstanding my post. Maybe this will clarify: It is not that I want or need a friend request from those that post such requirements either in threads or on their profile page. As many have said, one has the right to befriend (or not) whomever one wishes, as they should. What it is that I found…

Now there's the thing. I've no idea how long it would take a person to enter 'Starvation Mode' or whatever one prefers to call it but I've been dealing with the after effects of this surgery and the underfeeding issue for 16 yrs. I think it's a pretty safe bet to assume that that's probably long enough :).

My apologies as well. Sometimes it's hard to discern intent through posts. I guess maybe I'm just not explaining myself well. It's not that I care whether or not I'm friends with someone who takes that position, or that I aspire to be. It's that I don't care to be judged about the type of person I may or not be simply…

The purpose was to try and open the eyes of some condemning those that only eat 1200 calories or less. That sometimes it's done for medical or physical or misinformed reasons. I've seen a fair number of posts where folks are given a lot of grief for low calorie consumption and it struck a chord with me because I'm one of…
