Aside from all the other great advice already given... You will live up, or down, to your own expectations. Believe in yourself. Have faith in yourself. Respect yourself. And... Sleep is a weapon. Use it.

One word: cancer. Finding out you have a potentially terminal disease is a great motivator to wanting to get your body in shape and be healthy.

You also don't have a fitness trainer, a full gym and a world class chef to prepare nutritious, low fat meals at your beck and call either, I'm assuming? Because you can bet she does.

Thank you so much for posting this recipe!! I tried it tonight and it is delicious! I didn't have any protein powder on hand so I bought a four pack of Vanilla Muscle Milk and used a carton of that in place of the skim milk & powder. That added a little more fat/calories but not too bad (Cal: 285, Fat 7, Carb. 20, Protein…

I can't speak to the question of whether or not diet soda aids or hinders weight loss. But I can comment on whether or not artificial sweeteners have adverse side effects when consumed in moderation. They most definitely can. For a significant number of people, the artificial sweeteners do indeed cause adverse side…

Don't you hate it when you mis-type? I know I do. I'm sure you meant to say... That's better, isn't it? Glad I could help. You're welcome :). Thanks so much for this post, those of you who contribute. Newbies like me greatly appreciate it!! Question....is there a way to 'favorite' or 'star' a thread to keep it handy for…

Age is most definitely JUST a number! I'm 49 and have decided that I like the 40's just fine and that's where I'm staying, thankyouverymuch. No more of this aging stuff. It's just not nice. I'm also the proud parent of a 12 yr old (going on 30) daughter and a cancer survivor. (You GOTTA have a sense of humor for those two…

Total: 6/60. Question for you folks: I've see this posted as a core strengthener but this doesn't seem to bother my abs at all. What causes me problems and forces me to stop is my arms and my lower back. Pretty sure I'm doing them correctly. Just wondering why I'm not feeling it in my abs. What are the rest of you finding?

If it's not too late, I'd love to join in! Someone will have to tell me how to join the group though. I'm relatively new to posting here :)

I'm 5' 6" as well. Perfect height? Who knew? LOL I don't have a specific weight goal though really. I just want to feel good, be healthy, like what I see when I look in the mirror and be strong enough for the Taekwondo classes I take.

Mine was when I was diagnosed with and treated for cancer. Chemo was brutal because my body was weak to start with. The aftermath of side effects from chemo, radiation and the adjuvent therapy drugs that continue to take their toll pushed me over the edge. I will not let this be my life. I am 49. I have a child I am…

Thanks so much for all the replies everyone!!! I am pretty accurate with my food intake. I do measure amounts and I keep track of everything. I definitely don't drink enough water though so I'll really work on upping that. I've only been doing TKD for 6 months so I don't know that my body is too used to that as yet. And…
