Our doc told my DH he was borderline diabetic about a year ago and told him to start exercising. He's a computer programmer and sits at a desk every day and the only exercise he got at the time was typical household stuff. He had bought a recumbent bike a few years ago and it was just sitting in the basement so he started…

Mine is Jeanette: HATE it! Nickname is Jan: HATE it! Always have. Always will :(.

Wait, maybe I misunderstood. Is the group at the Facebook link? I thought I was looking for a MFP group as well. Is that not the case?
-
Do you happen to have a link for the group? It's not coming up on a search :(.

There's a site called allrecipes.com that lets you key in an ingredients list of things you have or things you want to avoid and will come back with recipes based on those lists. It's a great site where folks can leave reviews for recipes they've tried and how they tweaked them to give you other ideas. ETA: They also give…

Wounded Warriors Troop-A-Thon I used to run a books for soldiers foundation but sadly we had to close down due to lack of funding :(. But I absolutely loved doing it.

Going by that method, at 5'6" I should weigh 174 lbs. I'm sorry but either you misunderstood your doc or he's made an error somewhere. I found this online and it seems much more accurate: "Women, Medium Frame: 100 pounds for first 5 feet of height, plus 5 pounds for each inch over 5 feet. Add 10% for a large frame and…

You need to add it manually. Click on 'Tools' at the top and then 'Weight Loss Tickers' and go from there.

And because it isn't YOUR way of doing things you feel the need to come along and put someone down? Other's (and I'd be willing to wager they aren't ALL Americans (as if that makes a difference)) found it inspirational and motivational...how is that bad??

You're netting under 1,200 calories every day. That's not enough to keep the body humming along as it should long term. At some point, something's going to give.
-
My thoughts exactly. It's not worth the trade off. I'll keep the 16 calories. As far as the 'we all have to die of something' argument....this is true. But I'm going to hedge my bets anyway I can! LOL

Other than the typical house and car....Lasik Surgery, a Handgun and a Zing (computerized paper cutter) - spread out over the last few years.

LOL...where to start... The time frame is about 16 yrs. I had a Nissen Fundoplication done for GERD (Acid Reflux) which resulted in the top of my stomach being wrapped around my esophagus to create a man-made sphincter muscle as mine no longer seemed to want to work. I weighed 170 at my heaviest. After the surgery I…

Yes. I did/do. Until very recently (the last couple of weeks I've made a concerted effort to reach 1,300 cals some days I can, but most fall short) I averaged around 1,100 cals - many days under 1,000 - and I am overweight.
-
Have you lived it? Have you eaten 1,000 - 1,200 calories a day for years on end and not gained weight? No? Then how can you say, with any knowledge or conviction, that it won't happen? Because you read it somewhere?
-
Nothing bad will happen...in the short term. Long term, you will start to see repercussions. Your metabolism will slow as your body becomes used to the lessened intake. When you begin eating again at the higher level of calories (what was your original TDEE), you'll gain weight.

I soooo hope to be one of you guys some day!! I started the C25K last year. My asthma gave me so much trouble I couldn't progress beyond week 3. Even getting to week 3 was torture. It's bothered me that I couldn't do it so I started up again 3 weeks ago. And again started having the same problem. I know lots of asthmatics…

My only thought is 'let someone else play the guinea pig'. I don't have much faith in artificial sweeteners. I seem to have an intolerance to splenda and won't be in a rush to jump on that roller coaster again anytime too soon.

Looking forward to seeing that followup post here in a few months. You go girl!!!

After what you've been through, my dear...you deserve a walnut whip or two (or maybe a couple more). One off day is not going to make or break your overall success. For this to work you have to treat yourself once in a while, right? Otherwise, staying in for the long haul would be pretty rough going.

Hi Bev, I'm 2 1/2 yrs in on Tamoxifen. Hate the stuff!!! But not a lot of choice, is there? My oncologist tells me that it doesn't make you gain weight, but it does make it more difficult to lose. Not so sure I believe him on the 1st part, definitely believe him on the 2nd :(. But the good news is...while it may be more…

I feed our little guy Wellness. I used to order food made by a Vet in Florida but he developed an allergy to it after 4 yrs, so now he gets Wellness. When you are ready to switch your puppy's food make sure you do it gradually, slowly adding in a little more of the new food to the old each time until it's all the new stuff.

Thank you!!

does MFP have 1200 as their bottom calorie allowance? -Yes Has anybody been given less? -No

I've just come across one of your posts for the first time. WOW!! It's pretty impressive, what you've been able to accomplish. Pretty amazing stuff. Best of luck and prayers for you for tomorrow and the following days of recovery! And an extra one for tonight as well. I imagine sleep might be a bit elusive at this point so…

Something else I ran across while searching for new tea flavors is German Rock Sugar. There's 25 calories and 5 carbs per teaspoon (vs 18 cals and 5 carbs per teaspoon of granulated white sugar) but I find that I only need one tsp of the rock sugar where I used to need at least 2 tsps of granulated sugar. The other great…

I'm the odd man (woman) out, I guess. I wear mine under the arms but above the breasts and it seems to work just fine. Never had trouble getting it to sync and read. I'm not all that big chested though so maybe that makes a difference?
