I've been struggling with the last 10 myself. ;) One of the trainers I work with suggested a low carb diet trying to stay near 80 carbs a day. I was able to do that for about three days. (I don't eat meat very often or much of it at a time. I also eat low fat. Meaning, when I keep the carbs that low... my calories drop.)…

I've tried the EAS and Eat Good Look Great (available at Walmart). Good protein with fewer calories and carbs. I like them both as protein supplements as I don't eat a lot of meat. I also don't drink them every day or even more than once a day. Guess I will have to read up on the soy verses whey debate.

I miss Pat's and Geno's - preferred Geno's though. Used to live close enough to walk there. I'd take the calories out of soft pretzels or french fries. ;) Hmmm - liking the idea of calorie-free wine as well. Too many choices. :)

Just a question/thought... Is it possible that extra skin is also covering up part of the progress you are making? I've been losing weight and toning up for almost 3 years now. There doesn't seem to be anything that I can do about the extra skin - I just keep up the lifting because it feels good. My trainer always tells me…

Did your doctors do an ultrasound? For years, doctors thought I had a mild form of hypothyroidism. I struggled with weight and slept all the time. What I had was Hashimoto's disease - a version of hypothyroidism that needed different monitoring. The meds really are the key to your feeling better. The sooner the doctors…

The lower you get the closer you are to your body's ideal weight - the harder it is to make the scale move. So, I would say that it gets harder after 50 or 60 pounds - especially if that is close to the ultimate goal. Use the tape measure and a camera to track your progress the closer and closer you get to your ideal. You…

One of my personal trainers encouraged me to go low carb to jump start the scale with the exercise routine that I am working on. While focused on carbs, my calorie intake has been pretty low. This is supposed to be a five day push. Anyone have any suggestions to keep the carb total for the day under 80 and still consume…

Real question - Are YOU happy with how you look and feel? That is what matters. As for your wife, was it an off-hand comment? A way to say she was already happy with the changes you made?

Very cool site - I was close to the right size, but guessed a size too big. How interesting how we see ourselves as compared to how others see us. Thanks for sharing!

At certain points, your body does readjust and take some time. I too was frustrated with a plateau as I am closing in on a goal. A friend of mine who is a personal trainer suggested going 5 days on a low carb diet - trying to stay at 80 carbs or less a day. It isn't easy!! I decided to give it a try and started yesterday.…

I am amazed! So, only 40 pounds from a size 12 to a 0?! Astounding. I am sure it was a difficult path, but do you feel better? :) Thanks for posting!!

I started this journey 75 pounds ago and completely understand how hard it is to stay motivated. You are very brave to say you wanted to lose 100 pounds right from the start. I wasn't that brave. Keep up the great work! You are worth the effort! Congrats!!

I agree - liking my 40s a lot more than my 20s! Definitely have cooler toys now than I did back then. lol:glasses:
