I'm making black bean chili. I use the mirepoix from Trader Joes, and added red and green peppers and some sweet corn. This is just the beginning. [img I'll chop up some tomatoes, and add the beans which have been soaking all day. Cilantro, maybe cumin. My first try. I am trying to cook a little bit... I'll portion out and…

This is what I attempt: Breakfast, lunch, dinner are my categories What is my protein for each, and then I add lots of fresh tasty veggies. Frozen is yucky! Try to take some time for each meal, if you can and make the plate/bowl look pretty and full. Take picture. Snacks I try to think in terms of 50-100 calories. It's a…

On our second date I turned to him and said "You're just really full of ****, aren't you?" I knew then I was going to marry him. We had a good 10 years. We met in a war zone (metaphorically speaking) and survived together. No matter what, he got up every day and went to work. That meant a lot to me, because I'd been in bad…

They just have a different style and way of going about it, honey : ^ } Been there--done that a few times. Wish I hadn't--I thought I was so smart and 'chosen.' I wasn't the first, and I know I wasn't the last. It's a syndrome. Er, he's not married, I hope?? Not that that would stop those who troll the current crop. I…

It's the cultural norm in the USA, which basically means 'the world.' Do you know who the painter Peter Paul Reubens is/was? 1600's Google it in and look at his paintings of nudes.

I do better with the 'one day at a time' idea. I'm actually keeping food in the house now, real food. Stress really clicks my buttons, and I guess I will forever be learning how to deal with it. I eat better without stress, so I guess i have to take a close look at things I do and how I do them that add to my stress load.

Well said.

I egg-ree! Don't tread on. . . people who like the crazy diet train. Live and learn.

I burned out on lettuce/greens. I now make chopped salads and change up the ingredients when I feel like it. Lately it's been: broccoli radishes jicama celery green and red cabbage red and green peppers canned sweet corn from Trader Joe's or Sprouts (these are delicious, not like the rest of can corn) red onion zucchini…

If anyone eats Bob's Red Mill products and has a Big Lots store in their town, BL has a lot of BRM products lately, and they are cheap compared to the local health food store or supermarket. I bought some yellow grits (polenta), some muesli, some quinoa, and some other things I'm going to try. Must look up recipe ideas…

RE: protein First my gut didn't want my go-to Greek Yogurt. Then it didn't want/like chicken or meat. OK, I had eggs, right?? Now my gut says bleehhh to eggs. OK, cheese is still left, I can put cheese on many things. I'm getting the yuk factor for cheese. Panic!! I research protein sources. Yesterday I ate a delicious…

How to Tell the Difference Between Nerds and Geeks (googled) I call BOGUS! : ^ D IMO: A geek is more extroverted, a nerd more introverted And that's all folks!! ...and who but a "seersucker" (seersucker??? Really Urban Dic.???) --who but a nerd/geek would bother to look up a definition-- On another note: If nothing else…

I stopped drinking for almost 9 years, so I could address some problems I had through intensive group and individual counseling. What I learned was invaluable. I wouldn't be the person I am now, with the job I have now, without that time of abstinence. Not drinking helped me deal with an out-of-control teenager, too.…

What do you like to drink? I try to not be rigid, because that is the old way I tried to lose weight, which never worked long term. I drink: water with ice; water with ice & lemon slices; beer; wine; unsweetened vanilla almond milk; Virgil's diet creme soda (Sprouts); and anything that fits my plan and looks delicious.…

Trader Joe's has a great flourless sprouted bread, different varieties. I go to the best local bakery and buy their ww seed bread. Chewy, dense and delicious. I'm fussy about bread now.

I would eat and log my food. Tomorrow is another day. Learn from my misstep : ^ }

I agree--weigh the veggies. I was using measuring cups and found quite a difference now that I bought a food scale. It takes a little time but it is worth it. I'm learning, this is a way I'm educating myself about the food I eat and the attitudes I have towards portions. I was served huge portions as a kid so I thought…

I found I had to weigh and measure my food. I didn't learn anything if I just guesstimated or "had a glass of wine or two" or 'a couple of beers". For me this is not about punishment. I am changing my way of eating. I do some eating of the same meals, but I really just mix it up. By logging in everything, by weighing and…

Larrodarro gave me directions that actually worked. Find him and ask him to send them to you. I ended up using photobucket, since it is easy to click and copy, and flickr doesn't have that feature. I didn't know nothin' about this stuff. I need easy directions. I get corn-fused easily.
