  • I honestly didn't know that. Thanks for the PSA!
  • Well done you!
  • I think I'm at the same point you are. I've been on MFP for 14 months, and my end goal (which is admittedly an arbitrary psychologically pleasing number) is only 6-7 pounds away. But I've stayed steady for a month and like you could tighten up my calorie intake but just don't want to. Emotionally I feel a little like I'm…
  • Exactly this! It takes WAY more effort now to get ready in the morning because I have a lot more clothing options and if my clothes look so good I want my hair and makeup to look good as well
  • I'm 5'6" and 155 lbs and wear anything from a 6 in some dresses to a 10. At one shop (White House - Black Market) the sales woman said, "Yeah, we make our sizes bigger so customers feel like they're wearing a smaller size." That's helpful. The sizes vary even within one store. At Banana Republic outlet, I bought a size 6…
  • Well done for finding your own way to success! That first 5k is a bit of a nail biter - I'm pretty sure I cried just before the race from nerves :) I wanted to run my whole first 5k but just couldn't - but I still finished, and that's what I was going for! I started WAY too fast (well, not compared to everyone else, but…
  • This is scale-related, but I'm taking it anyway :) Today, for the first time in my adult life (I'm 45 years old), I'm a healthy BMI! I'm officially no longer overweight! YAY!!!!
  • Well done! Taking pictures is so important because the results are much more real than just numbers on a scale. Keep it up!
  • Well, my breasts ARE smaller (and droopier, so that's nice) but not what I meant. Yes, this is it exactly. I would always have said I was big-boned but really I was just fat :) I'm medium build but with broad shoulders. Apparently, I'm a "carrot" or "inverted triangle" shape now. I googled but found some conflicting…
  • Well done you! Amazing work! I'm so looking forward to being able to make a similar post (only 10 more pounds to go) Now for maintenance - good luck! Keep doing what you've generally be doing up to this point and you'll make it!
  • I've just signed up for a half in March. There's a training group in my area associated with USAFit that I'll train with until then. Our time placement run is this weekend. I'm definitely up for a virtual training buddy as well!
  • Thanks for all your encouragement! I pulled the trigger and signed up. Talking to strangers makes me way less nervous than the monkey bars at this race :) I'll have to do the first to get through the second!
  • I've got both. I started with the FitBit Flex and found it helpful in getting me off my butt. The calorie burns were pretty accurate for me in that I ate back nearly all the calories as calculated by FitBit and still lost 1.5 pounds a week for my first 6 months. But it's not pretty :) So, I moved over to the Misfit Shine.…
  • Yes! I'm just about in the same place (12 pounds to go). When you have 80 to lose, as I did when I started, 10 seems like NOTHING. Now it seems like Mt. Everest!
  • I think I like the in progress stories even more than the reached-goal stories. You have a come such a long way and by posting you're showing you're willing to keep going. Good on you!
  • I posted this in another photo-only success story thread but meant to post here. A friend at work found a photo of me before I started losing weight. Then we took a picture for comparison. That's 70 pounds in just over a year. You know in your head that you look different but even I was shocked at just HOW different!
  • A friend at work found a picture of me from before I started losing weight. Then we took a picture today for comparison. Here are the results. That's the difference 70 pounds can make!
  • Well done! So exciting to see changes and for you to feel so good about them. Yay!
  • Thanks to everyone for posting. It's so exciting to see everyone's victories! I've got a couple for today: Saturday was my one year fit-aversary! August 1st, 2014, was the day I decided to change my health story. What a difference that year has made! Also on Saturday I was shopping for new trousers. I started in a VERY…
  • Can't even begin to say how much I love this thread! Mine for this week: - Started with a new gym and trainer. I told him I wanted to be strong and to be able to do a pull-up. It's nice to have a specific plan to get there. - I bought size 8 shorts! Single digit! Never in my life! - Went to a step class at the new gym and…
  • Thanks for that inspiration!
  • When I first started running, I had some hip pain as well. I went to the chiropractor and he said my hips were twisted, basically from sitting all day at an office job. After just one or two adjustments, the hip pain stopped! Now I go every month or so just to keep things straight.
  • I'm not into labels at all, but one I've always coveted is a DFV wrap dress. Those do NOT come in size 20! But yesterday I found one at Nordstrom in a 10 that MOSTLY fits and it was on massive sale. Yay!
  • Having never been skinny, I'm currently aiming at 148 down from 230SW and 161CW. To get below that would be WAY more work than I am willing to put in! Having said that, I do think I'll want to actively recomp when I get there because I imagine I'll still be quite wobbly.
  • Me, exactly! I cosign everything you said. Now how do we get those goggles off?
  • That sounds fantastic! Putting it on my list - although I'm the only one at home who eats mushrooms. Do you think they would freeze well once cooked?
  • Good for you! For the first time since I was a kid (I'm 45 now), I'm actually considering a bikini rather than a tankini or one piece. My tummy DOES have a story, and the story has left its mark. But that story is just as valid as everyone else's and shouldn't be hidden! Thanks for the inspiration!
  • Yay! Well done you! Thanks for being an inspiration and a great example of how it can be done!
  • Yes, until just recently. I lost 66 pounds in about 10 months with CICO (moderation/flexibility) and a HUGE increase in activity. Recently I've slowed WAY WAY WAY down with about 15 pounds to goal. This is apparently normal, so ask again in 4 weeks and I'll tell you whether I'm still feeling successful.
  • I'm in exactly this position. I've lost about 65 pounds and have about 15 to go and it has definitely gotten more difficult to stick to the things I know that work. Some of it is fatigue - I've been at this for nearly a year and my brain is tired of doing it. BUT, in order to maintain, this has to have been a life-long…
