Thank you all for your suggestions!!!

I'm in same boat. Feel free to add me, too. Lots of little pieces finally merged together and opened my eyes to the real picture. It was brutal and I am still trying to recover but I am all in this time. Not just whining around about wanting to lose weight, not just saying I will exercise and doing it for a bit, not just…

Gym membership. Past attempts I tried doing exercises at home. With 3 little ones I always ended up stopping and getting frustrated. I joined a gym and found I really enjoy exercising there. It is 90 min of me time.

Amazing. Thank you for sharing and inspiring others.

I just tackled my first 5 lbs, too! I am ready to knock out another 5. It has given me such relief to know I am on a good path, making good choices. I don't mind putting the work into it as long as I see results.

Welcome aboard the MFP train!! I hope you find it a useful tool.

I avoid getting my picture taken because I am slapped in the face with reality of my size. My husband told me that one day our kids will want pics of me and of me with them. That was just one of the many pieces that came together to make me realize I need to do this and I can't put it off (again, off topic and it's my own…

Although I almost always feel like the smaller self I spent most of my life as I ALWAYS feel like an elephant when buying clothes.... and that feeling lasts for days. Then I don't want to go shopping ever again so I end up wearing rags. Then I end up not feeling good about myself. Then I treat myself to some food. Then I…

I am right there with you. I have about 60 lbs to shed and am hoping to be aggressive and knock off 10 lbs a month (shoot for the stars, right?) I have always had to plan/prep meals due to busy life ( and living in country and not close to a store). I am just tweaking what the meals are. It becomes easier after awhile. The…

Well done! Bravo! Keep doing whatever you are doing. The results speak for themselves.

Pictures can be brutal!

shipleyamye "I try to fit workouts into my lunch hour...our company gives us 1.5 hours for lunch if you exercise. So we are lucky in that regard." SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with all the posts so won't repeat what has already been said. The one other thing I had to learn to do was not feel guilty for taking a little time to take care of myself. I prefer to engage my kids with physical activities (hikes, walks, tag) or work out when they are asleep or not with me (coming home from work).…

First of all - hurray to you for not letting a bumpy day throw you off track. We have them but can't let them defeat us. You are trying to learn from your bumpy day - so please give yourself a pat on the back for that. I am finding that it gets easier the longer you are at it. At the beginning of this it takes a lot of…

This is a great tool. But you need a solid plan. When/where/ how are you going to exercise? How are you going to get your calorie count down? And then it is helpful to have friends on here. Watching them exercise and log and drop weight is a big motivator. Armed with a plan, a tracking tool, and friends great things will…

I read somewhere that if you wanted to lose weight you should eat all your food standing naked in front of a mirror

I do not have a "reward system" in place. I am working on taking better care of myself not only physically but mentally and spiritually. So I am making time for that and find this is helping me tremendously with sticking to my weight loss plan. I am scheduling time out with friends and going to devotion group at my church.…

I think if you are really wanting to connect with other moms try reaching out to those you are already crossing paths with. Are your kids school age? Try to get to know other moms better at school activities or extracurricular activities. Do you attend church? Try to get to know other moms there. My social circle has…

I could almost always go for some McD's, unfortunately. I used to be very good about it and just have an occasional treat. But then I hit a difficult point in my life. I would feel down and try to cheer myself up with a McDs meal. Then I started to gain weight and feel bad about myself..... another run thru the drive-thru.…

I decided to come up with a schedule I know I can keep. I wish I could be more aggressive but this is what I can do right now. I go to the gym 2 days a week and work out at home 1 day. Then I try to take walks/hikes with my kids and dog or play active games with the kids. I have an elliptical and will get on that a time or…

I find that when you are a parent just having time to commit to a friendship is difficult. I mentioned that to my mom one day and she told me that things change with every stage of life and I will have time to spend with friends when in a different life stage. Your true friends are still there. She said when she was…

[quote="the idea of counting forever bothers me and I don't see any other option if I want to keep fitting in my pants. [/quote] I worry about that as well. I know it is a great tool for losing weight. I am hoping that by building a more active lifestyle and gaining knowledge on calories I can eventually (after dropping 60…

In past I wanted to lose weight and counted calories and exercised a bit but I didn't have a definite plan. This time I have a schedule for working out. It's not just "hey, I'm going to TRY to get 3 sessions in". I have armed myself with information on nutrition and our bodies and am no longer just trying to starve myself.…

What great news!! Major pats on the back for your hard work and dedication. Thank you for sharing. I am 1 week in and your story is very motivating!

Healthy, fast, tasty.... I was skeptical at first but it has delivered in all areas. I think when we are moms (parents) and spread so thin already it is important to have patience. I can't get a ton of hours in at the gym but as long as I am slowly chopping away at this extra weight I am happy (or trying to be). Get your…

Meal prep on weekends is a life saver. Crock pot and my new favorite Instapot are very helpful. I do a lot of doubling what I make and freezing meals for later. It's not easy. I have scheduled 2 times for me to go to the gym each week and I make myself go. That was all I could make it happen with all our schedules. I then…

I have heard others complain of that but I have found a great Wellness Center. I had a fitness assessment when I started and they set me up on a program. It tells me exactly what exercise to do and what time/resistance/reps/etc. maybe I don't hit the r ally busy times but I rarely have to wait. Maybe you haven't found the…
