What about wine and cheese and beer and steak and bourbon and chocolate???

Again--Given there were several of these today, grammar helps. I assume you mean guys' butts--as in butts belonging to guys and not Guy's butts, like some man named Guy who happens to have multiple butts. And, yes.

Do souls have fewer calories if absorbed instead of eaten?

You can target certain areas for toning--That is, you can improve muscle tone by specific areas, but you can't reduce fat by toning those muscles. It does not hurt, however, to start toning those muscles while you are eating at a deficit to lose the fat. Then, when the muscles are uncovered, you'll look amazing.

Dude, you need more fruit and grain. Wine and beer ought to help. Get rid of the Coke...that has no nutritional value. Substitute beer and wine. Vodka is made from potatoes, so that's practically a vegetable. :drinker:

I get up at 5 on MWF to swim. I don't eat before I swim because the flip turns make me want to hurl if I do. Consequently, I go home and eat breakfast (Greek yogurt with high protein cereal mixed in or 1/2 bagel and egg or banana and peanut butter).

I am 5'5" and weigh 124 pounds, but my goal was 130. I started at 145 (my size 4 capri pants were a little snug). There are some women, like me, who are mostly muscle, so 124 is a low weight (a size 2 jeans is often too big at the waist). I run, swim, bike, and walk when I can. So, if you're athletic, you need to take…

When people tell me I need to eat, I whip out my MFP app and show them my food log! It's shocking! Yesterday, I was darned near 3000 calories and still at a deficit. OMG! Of course, the hour of swimming, hour and a half of biking, and playing frisbee with the boy child had NOTHING to do with it :grumble:

I swim, too, so my arms, shoulders, back, and abs are really quite muscular. Does that help some? You're all probably right about the muscle loss  I hate it when he's right :blushing:

I was so going to say SWIM!!!!! Not that lifting and Yoga are bad, but swimming exercises all of the muscles!!

I was trying to buy a skirt and asked the sales lady if they had the next size down, and she said, "No. Why don't you go eat a cheeseburger or something. Then, the skirt will fit just fine." Really?

I'm a swimmer who has picked up running. My PRs are: 5K: 21:08 10K: 45:15 1/2: 1:41:08 I wear NB, and they are the best shoes I've ever had. In fact, I have two different pairs. I run on MWFSu (4, 6, 4, 10ish respectively). Welcome to the running world. ETA: I swim for 40 min. each on MWF, too. AND ETA: I use Humana Fit…

I often get excluded at work when they're giving out chocolate because, I obviously would NEVER eat that!! The lady at my gym told me that I used to look good but now I look near anorexic. That' wasn't very nice.

Calories are the energy you get from eating food. Your body needs a certain amount of energy just to survive. The concept on this site is that if you consume fewer calories than you use, your body will get the energy from the stored fat (excess weight) already in your body. This works until you've used up your excess…

Ooooh! Funny! We had to drive home 3.5 hours after my last 1/2 marathon, but we stopped every 30 min. to get out of the car and walk around. Still was difficult getting out of the car at the end of the day.

DH and I go on running dates all.the.time! LOVE IT!! Why stop at a 5K?

Welcome, Ben. I'm a swimmer who runs: 5K: 21:08 10K: 43:13 1/2 marathon: 1:41:08 I swim MWF (40 min. of laps in the morning) and run 4T, 6Th, 4F, and LONG Sunday. My goal is always to improve on my own times.

I'm in the NEVER camp. My dad always said that people who curse lack the intelligence and creativity to come up with alternatives. I'm not saying that I never curse, but I teach kids who "can't help it" because it just "slips out," and that gets them into a lot of trouble.

Lovely smile!

What's wrong with being 126 pounds at 5'4"?

I ran a 5K last weekend in 21:08. So, yes. I'm a 39 year old woman. ETA: My 1/2 marathon pace is about 7:30 min/miles, but it took years of training to get here.

I agree with much of what has been said. You want to be careful about labeling foods as good or bad, and you want to ensure that your daughter learns moderation so that when she is "allowed" cookies or cakes or sweets, she doesn't want/need to eat all of it. When I was growing up, we always had a choice to have some kind…

OMG! I was thinking the same thing! Who wouldn't want to lose Miley Cyrus?? Great job. A whole person! That's amazing! (Please forgive my overuse of !!!)

I used to count myself as a sprinter. Then, I was was a middle of the road runner. I don't know when "It's just a short 4-mile run today. I'll be back in 30 min," became part of my vocabulary, but it somehow has. I ran a 5K in 21:08 a couple of weeks ago. My 1/2 marathon pace is about 8 mph. I think what has helped me is…

I am 5'5" and have lost just over 20 pounds. I hit my goal 10 pounds ago, and I seem to be really good at losing weight. I'm currently at about 125 pounds. I'm a runner and swimmer and consume roughly 2300 calories/day.

When you want to buy new jeans and you realize the next size up puts you on the "plus sized" side of the store.

Thanks for asking the question! I'm running my 2nd 1/2 on Saturday, and I'm losing weight despite eating about 2500 calories/day. But, I also run and swim. I've been considering trying to eat a little more leading up to the race, and DH says I shouldn't swim this week, but I love swimming, so I'll probably still do it…

My friend and I have been having this conversation lately. I was leaving they gym where I work out, and the receptionist said, "You looked really good when you first started coming here. Now, you look nearly anorexic. You need to make sure you're eating!" WTF? I run and swim and eat about 2500 calories a day. I'm 5'5" and…

You will very likely get to a point, when you're used to how it feels to eat a certain amount of food, when you won't need to count every calorie. You'll find that you are able to estimate well, and you may go for a whole week without counting each calorie. I am currently at a place where I can very closely estimate what I…
