  • I bought one on Sunday (12/7), and within 2 days, it completely stopped working. I exchanged it on Wednesday (12/10), and by Saturday (12/13) the clock feature stopped working. I think I may give up with Misfit.
  • Why don't you use it anymore?
  • I just posted about this! How funny. I was asking the same questions. I bought the Flash because I couldn't see much difference between the two. I don't like that it is smart phone dependent. I'd rather use my pc if I can (that's not a huge deal). The one I bought on Sunday I wore swimming (laps in pool 1 hour each day) on…
  • I'm a swimmer and runner, and, like you, I can't eat right before a workout. I ran into a problem with losing too much weight and started adding avocado to everything that didn't move out of the way fast enough (salads, burgers, quesadillas, chicken...). I also changed from skim milk to 2% and started eating full fat…
  • anybody??
  • My inner nerd loves you. :)
  • I swim 3 days a week...I often go to work with rings around my eyes from goggles. They fade. I plan to get new goggles, though, because mine give me a headache after a while. As far as the swim cap goes, I have long enough hair to pull it back...But...I always soak my head before I head to the pool 1) it prevents my hair…
  • I think there is truth to having a "mechanism" that turns off eating. I have been blessed with an active "NO MORE FOOD" mechanism. That being said, I think it's far more of a learned thing than it is a biological. I was raised by my grandmother who always said, "It's just as wasteful to eat it when you are full as it is to…
  • Thanks. That's information I was looking for. Does the app log miles and speed? If it does, is it necessary to run Runkeeper and Charity Miles at the same time?
  • I will be forty on Monday (10/27). I'm not looking to lose or gain weight at this time. I joined because I was training for a 1/2 marathon, and I kept accidentally losing weight. I thought that tracking calories would help keep my weight steadier. I work full-time and spend my evenings playing taxi to children.
  • My MFP and Fitbit accounts are synced. I find that it's much easier to track food on MFP and let Fitbit import the calorie information. Interestingly, Fitbit always allots me more calories than MFP does. I don't really care because I'm not trying to lose weight. I use MFP to balance caloric intake when I'm training because…
  • I'm a lot faster on race day than I am when I'm running by myself. My "normal" pace is about 8 mph. My PR for a 5K is 21:08. I hope to someday be at 20:00, but I doubt that I will ever be that fast. I might add that I am a swimmer, really, not a runner. I think you can do it. I read an article that said to increase speed,…
  • I raised my kids with "naked" vegetables and limited condiments. They had few to no store-bought treats mostly because my son was allergic to eggs. I rewarded them in the grocery store one day by telling them they could each choose one snack. My daughter grabbed a container of pineapple chunks, and my son chose a container…
  • I bought clothes at Goodwill and consignment shops along the way. They were my "temporary" wardrobe. I also got rid of the clothes that were too big. I figured that keeping them made it easy for me to slack off. If my "new" pants are tight, I can just fall back on my "fat" clothes. If my new pants are too tight, I need to…
  • Always with DH spooning. Is there another way?
  • I have 5 children and a full-time job. I get up at 4:50 to work out in the mornings before I get the kids ready for the school day and cart them around in the evening for their activities. I agree with the walking as much as you can. Take the stairs. Don't take the most direct route to get places, etc.
  • And rightfully so!! I have to admit, this really did make me Laugh.Out. Loud!
  • I have been at about the same weight for over a year, and I get that kind of comment all the time. I usually say, "Thank you for your concern." and I leave it at that. The lady in the classroom next door to mine comments on my weight loss regularly--as though I've continued to lose weight. "Thank you for concern," doesn't…
  • Funny you should ask this question today because I got an article called "Why Runners Shouldn't Diet" in my news feed. http://www.active.com/running/articles/why-runners-shouldn-t-diet I found this very interesting. I should help you out! Cheers!
  • It's not inability to spell, it's often lack of knowledge of which to use in certain context. Like knowing you're, your, or yore. English is an exceptionally difficult language even for native speakers. When people see the misuse often enough, it becomes confusing. That being said, I KNOW which word to use, but I'll often…
  • ^^This, and add, you can't target specific areas of weight loss. Eat at a deficit, and you will lose weight. You lose enough weight, you lose muffin top. You buy a pair of jeans that fit properly, and you lose muffin top too.
  • It's also My Fitness Pal, not My Grammar Pal.
  • I'm not a triathlete, but I do bike, swim, and run. I find biking to be a good complement to everything else. It is easier on the joints.
  • I have: "A lower BMI than 91% of the women in my age group in this country." "A lower BMI than 71% of females in the world in my age group." "If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would remove 35,013,107 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population" I'm most like people in Bangladesh.
  • I second the applesauce thing. I use unsweetened applesauce for baking--in place of oil, and I also cut the sugar by about 1/4 cup because apples have sweetness to them. It also works to use only egg whites in place of whole eggs. (you may need to add an extra egg white). My pancake recipe is only 70 calories per cake.
  • I do the same thing. I hate it when people try to socialize with me whilst I'm swimming! Social swimmers drown.
  • It's just as wasteful to eat food when we are full as it is to throw it away.
