The only cleansing I like is a long warm anti contamination shower.

What are you doing so far? For me, if I had to do a restrictive diet (low carb, etc) I'd fail within a day. What has worked for me before and what is working for me now is just to keep a caloric deficit and ignore everything else. All I've done in the last three months is reduce portion size. Again, it depends on what…

Sure, I will be your friend. Be warned though, I am far from a perfectionist, and if you judge me during my regular 7-10 slice pizza overdoses, then we can no longer be friends.

I honestly believe that you have overcome the biggest hurdle there is. The rest is difficult but definitely possible. My favorite quote that perfectly relates to weight loss is "don't let perfect be the enemy of good." You don't have to do everything in a perfect manner, sometimes good enough is all it takes. Just keep it…

I've always hated running because of the shin splints. I've started running again and running only 0.25 miles is enough. I've tried doing some of these exercises but haven't done enough to see if it helps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoOoXOqoyx0 I haven't tried any shin Splint Compression Sleeve yet.

Watched a video where he said some people were doing 2 hour cardio but they were essentially no burning any calories doing so. Does not compute for me.

There were these workouts on youtube. Something about blenders. It was in the fitness section of the videos. Oh I'm drawing a blank here, but they were pretty good workouts. I'm sure someone will come along and tell you about it.

I was proud of myself for stopping at only three slices at my favorite pizza place in Chicago. Turns out each slice was 700+ calories. Doh! :drinker:
-
Personally, speaking for myself only, it has REALLY improved diet adherence.

Korea and Japan used to be poor countries and most of the population suffered from malnutrition. During recent decades, with increased prosperity, there has been a big shift in population weight. In recent years I have encountered many more overweight people in S Korea and Japan. The biggest deterrence to being overweight…

Rib-eye steak with mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and a side of Caesar salad.

IMO, IIFYM is just a fancy acronym for what used to be called a "balanced diet" (ie not restrictive diet). It's the only way that makes sense for me. YMMV.

What he said. I love Coke zero and don't have any issues with it.

I mentioned this in another thread, but over Mother's day weekend I had two days where I had my favorite pizza (somewhere around 7-10 slices each day). Others day included tons of Indian food, tons of Korean food, my favorite 1000+ calorie burger. Ended up gaining about 1kg over those 5 days but have since gone back to…

Unfortunately 17,500 calories is not enough to reach saturation. There are just too many factors and enzyme saturation (lipase, amylase, etc) and transportation of molecules across the bilayers are just a couple of them. From what I've gathered it'd be at least 10,000 calories or more each day to reach the saturation…

I'm starting to add some body weight exercises so I'll be paying close attention to this thread. :)

No one is denying that Starvation is not possible. It would be a completely silly stand to take. The subject of the discussion is starvation mode as it pertains to dieters. That is a myth.
-
Thank you for this excellent post!!
-
I really wish this message didn't include the phrase "starvation mode."

Seriously, what kind of idiot would do that? I'll be your friend and I will not delete you, because I do not think that 54 is too old. Now, the day you turn 84, you are so out of my friends list. But really, send me a friend request anytime! :flowerforyou:

I would recommend keeping it simple. 1. Forget about carbs and sugars. 2. Focus on an appropriate caloric deficit (TDEE - 500 calories is a good starting point) 3. Log all calories each day 4. Do short and slow walking exercise, increase distance and pace over time 5. Don't read anything from Craigslist posters

I'm a big SciFi and Doctor Who fan. Send me a friend request at your own peril ! :drinker: (sorry I love saying that)

+3 In case anyone missed it, that post above answers at least 30% of all questions/concerns here.

I'm not vegetarian but I'm definitely geeky! :drinker:

If it makes you or anyone else better, I went back to CA a few weeks ago and got a chance to get my favorite pizzas, I had two days where I practically overdosed on pizza. I lost count, something like 7,8,9 or 10 slices per day. And those were only two of the five days in my trip. :drinker: I didn't feel bad about it, but…

I only make dietary changes that I know I can do indefinitely. Low carbs is not something I can do indefinitely. It's been 99 days since I started counting calories and I have lost 28 pounds so far. I eat the same stuff I was eating before, just with smaller portions. My current daily carb limit is 190 grams. You may have…
