  • Thanks. Trying not to flip out and stay motivated. It takes nothing for me to feel defeated and emotionally eat!! Hoping its just water or sodium.
  • I use 'mapmyfitness' to track it and I actually divide the calories it counts in half because I find they are badly inflated. I also don't sync anything to MFP because the auto calorie adjustments confused me too much and I feel I was eating more than I was burning. Between my fitbit exercise calories and the way I half…
  • Nope. Using mfp everyday even if I was over my calories. I do some form of exercise 5-6 days a week, mostly running for 45 mins. I haven't stopped eating anything I like, just making sure to work it into my allowable calories. I do have 1 cheat meal a week though where I can have anything I want. It seems to help actually,…
  • I've lost 50 lbs in 114 days. Starting weight at 5'9 was 257, down to 207. Daily logging, calorie counting and atleast 20 mins of activity a day did it. I have had a few screw ups in there, couple of binges and a weekly cheat meals but its worked for me. I also have 50 more i'd like to lose!
  • I was losing until a week ago when it started using all these auto adjusts. I have lost 50+ lbs using MFP so I think I know what i'm doing, I just want to know how to turn off the auto adjusts because they are NOT accurate.
  • So you have the same problem with it. I unlinked it from all apps now but its not deleting todays auto adjustments and won't let me. Hopefully tomorrow is better. It gave me +1200 for burning 425 calories today using mapmyrun. Way over inflated.
  • I'm not blaming the app for 'eating more' but i'm blaming the adjustments for throwing the calculations off yes, which in turn confuses me and has lead me to eat more than I should have since I thought I had calories left to eat for the day. And yes, I am aware i'm supposed to eat exercise calories back so save the…
  • I unlinked the programs but it just increases the calorie adjustment and didn't delete them from my diary. It won't let me manually delete the automatic calorie adjustments
  • Oh, I definitely had a fat rolly belly before, but it seemed firmer and like one big roll, rather than really soft, several rolls and jiggly. it just seems the dreaded "kangaroo pouch" has gotten bigger and jigglier since losing... but maybe the one big, firm roll turned into a couple smaller, softer ones? It's so weird…
  • I totally agree. As painful as it was, it was the kick I needed. Had I of never met him, or still with him, I wouldn't be kicking my own big butt like I am today. I guess I can thank him for doing me a favor.
  • I think it's hilarious he still had me in his phone in the 1st place! lol.
  • whew, thanks everyone. I try not to freak out about the fluctuations but after being hit with sciatic nerve pain yesterday, my exercise routine will be off for a week or so. I'm extra paranoid about screwing myself up while I'm recovering, I've just come so far and really like the progress I'm making!
  • I used to be on it, i also gained a lot of weight, about 30lbs or so. I went off and back on the pill and lost the weight. I don't know what about the shot made me gain but I also wasn't trying to lose when I was on it so it could have just been old habits, or maybe it made me hungrier. Either way I'm glad I'm off it.…
  • I have this argument with my family and friends all the time. I had a hard time believing it too because I wanted it to sound so much harder to lose weight so I had an excuse. Literally. It was only when I actually started counting and using MFP that I realized it's really that simple. And now, my friends and family are…
  • right now I do 45 mins of cardio 5-6 days a week (running in intervals with walking). I do strength training once a week but my trainer is recommending more (of course he is...). I have gotten great results on my own with just cardio (down 25lbs), but I want to tone the problem areas like my flabby arms. I'm just wondering…
  • I don't buy ones with sauce usually, but i do sometimes buy ones that are mixed with noddles or rice, etc... those tend to have more sodium than just vegetables. I will just have to be extra vigilant about reading labels. thanks
  • yes, and the exercise calories tend to be way off in my experience. I do my best to search the data base for the exact brand or similar before selecting. It's hard to count calories when you eat out or make food from scratch because the ingredients can differ so greatly.
  • Me too.. getting married November 8 2014. I have another 40-50 lbs I want to lose before then but has lost my motivation. Feel free to add me and let's DO THIS!!!
  • i'm trying to lose a total of about 80lbs, and losing 30 took me about 4 months. i'm averaging 1-2 loss lb per week. I had hoped to lose the 80 by February 2014 but thats not looking possible now. And I'm ok with that because 30 lbs lost is 30 lbs lost!
  • I have this coming up also, and all I can say is... go, have fun. forget about this for the week or whatever that you're gone. I tried to track on my last vacation and while I did well for the 1st day, I gave up after because it was too complicated to try and track every little thing and guess how much I ate at a…
  • I come from a family history of obesity, diabetes and bad eating habits. I want to say genetics, but it's not, it's environmental factors mostly. I was influenced as a kid... I copied what I saw around me.. I ate what was handed to me, and those meals were not healthy, or portioned. I was a picky eater, which is also not…
  • My deficits are usually 5-700 a week, and my workouts are mostly cardio/walking every day for 30-60 mins. I lift weights once or twice a week but I don't go hardcore. Should I be increasing the weights?
  • i'm also a 2014 bride... november 8th to be exact. i'm hoping to lose atleast 50lbs by then, and i'm currently down almost 23!! feel free to add me too.
  • I feel bad for LOL'ing at this. lol. But i totally relate.
  • this is not selfish at all. Where is it a written law that you HAVE to have kids? I'm almost 30 and I don't want kids either, for the same reasons you mentioned. Just because I'm a woman, I shouldn't have to have kids, or want to have kids. I may have that "maternal" instinct, but i use it in other ways, like with my pets.…
  • I frequent Vegas twice a year... and I have been to several spas on the strip. I'm also a size 20/22, and I can tell you, you are NEVER too big to pamper yourself! I was worried that there would be all these fit, slim people walking around in their bikini's, like you see on tv and at the vegas pools, but I was surprised to…
  • ^^ this. and you also have great taste in movies! labryinth is my fave :)
  • i agree... i use as little olive oil as i can to get my cooking done... olive oil is a good fat to have, and its so much bette to cook with, but it is high in calories... just use as little as you can. 1/2 tsp usually serves me well for a pan full of veggies or meat.
  • Don't miss out on something because of what others might think. I hate the way I look in a bathing suit, so I wear swim shorts over my bottoms, and wear a halter tankini to emphasize my huge boobs. Then i jump in like I own the place. I was at a hotel the other day, and i went swimming... these teenage guys (i'm in my…
  • my boyfriend says that's what's happening... he says i'm porportionate and i'm likely loosing all over, not just one area. I don't really have 1 problem area either so maybe this is what's happening. Thanks!
