I would love to do the dopey! my 40th is in a few years would love to ( save up) and do the dopey or the below quadrathon. A couple of ladies from our running club did it during the summer - 4 back to back marathons in the wilds of Donegal, they said it was doable just took it very very steady - no pb's, changed runners…

I'm awful at short races! I literally feel like I am going to puke at the end of them, goal weight would be great but gotta get over Christmas first

You will be fine, I was the same with my first and every one since, to be honest nearly better to get the nerves over with early in the week by the weekend they will be done with you will be relaxed and enjoy the race. thanks all def recommend it as a first marathon, there were lots of interesting folks - my neighbour her name is colette o' hagan she ran did her first one 23 years ago and yes that was her 300th - they even did gave her a special race number and a lovely presentation. thanks all, yep hopefully see more in the future. Going to get the miles in over the winter and then hopefully do a trail one next year, though once a year will definately be the max! I'm sitting at my desk in work right now and feel like I've been hit by a truck lol. Well worth it though

Yep first one, my friend is def out she dropped her garmin down to me earlier am going to use it and go with a pacing group. Thanks for the advice I will follow it closely tomorrow

Bank hol over here, doing my first ever marathon in the morning - Dublin. To say my nerves are gone would be an understatement. Hope everyones runs went well today, looking forward to reading the updates.

Great post, congrats on your anniversary I would say you really enjoyed that fast short run, some difference in time! I'm not running as long as you but have to agree the advice and support on this page is fantastic.

best of luck, they do get easier I did my first 20 mile run a couple of months ago, I had been gradually building up to it - I very foolishly did it before an 8 hr shift, I felt awful afterwards! I came on here had a good moan, got lots of reassurance and encouragement andsure enough the second 20 miler was completely…

thanks all, I got the tshirt and wore it out yesterday, it is actually ok. Its really light the collar was grand, I hate anything tight around my neck so I left the bottoms open collar might come in handy moping up sweat, tears and snot :). Only thing annoyed me was the sleeves so was thinking of taking scissors to…

Best of luck, make sure and let us know how you get on! I have a neighbour who does back to back marathons on a regular basis, there was a week during the summer she did four in a row ( the medals were amazing they all clicked in together). No bother to you :)

I'm thinking next year of concentrating on running a fast 5 & 10k, and a few trail half marathons. I want to to the first & really enjoy the second and hopefully the training won't be as intense as it is for the marathon. But i'm very new, so don't pay too much attention to me :)
