Lol yes I think a bit mental to run a marathon..and do it again. Thank you for your replies, they really helped settle the head :) which is as well because I am off the rd altogether with a nasty chest infection

wouldn't you think? no I did a 10k a week before the marathon and it was a diaster. Well not a disaster but nowhere near a pb. Completely different training - lots of medium long runs, long long slow runs, hill work, some intervals, but def not an increase in speed. I wish

I had a similar experience on my second marathon!!! my brother rang I was at mile 23 I had a good old gossip with him, it passed those scary high miles for me, I bounced up to the finish line in great form :) ( course he thought I was nuts)

I like company but it can be hard because as you say you are either holding someone back or vice versa. I have a great friend who came out for a few long runs with me earlier in the year. Hi i love beyonce bruno mars, tina, bit of taylor swift. Can't beat pitbull though he is a mucky little pup. For long runs I downloaded some move sound tracks - braveheart, last of the mohicans, some of Gladiator. Big soaring tunes and nice scenery to distract me and keep me steady.

Hi Wendy, I have another half this sunday I'm kinda glad I think if I waited too long for another I would lose my nerve altogether. sorry forgot to add, I did a half last year where they had lovely fruit cake at the last stop - 9 miles in. I really enjoyed it and shot off afterwards. if I could figure out a way to have fruit cake on a long run I would :)

I'm all about the scenery too, I did the causeway coastal half marathon last year loved every second of it! would love to go back and do the full this year. Also have my eye on the Loch Ness marathon, I love the scottish highlands so would love to do a race up there.

lol the glee is great its the fact I have gotton carried away with myself before in the past and ended up *kitten* over head on the ground bleeding and cursing :) not very dignified on the plus side I am way more sympathetic to my kids when they fall over - it really does hurt!
