VSG 14-Mar-14 SW 227 CW 143 Last night I made made yummiest invention yet. I made a mushroom cap "pizza". The mushroom was ~ 4-5" in diameter. I used pesto and sun dried tomatoes as the base. Threw in some garlic, fennel, feta and topped w/ pecorino romano. It was so good, my gf admitted it was way superior to her steak.…

Day 2 and 3 definitely would have been a no-go for me and I have a desk job. I was 5 days post op before I returned to work. The next 2 weeks were somewhat hellish. I was always tired and weak. Were I to do it all over again, I'd take off at least 2 weeks to give my body a chance to heal and just rest really. I'm 28,…

I wish I could say I got up one morning and was sugar free... it was a slow removal. First rice, then grain based breads, then sugar itself. I rely on whole, fresh fruits. If I must cheat, dried fruit concentrates the sugar while importantly keeping the fibre and other nutrients. Now I don't use dried fruit as a fix, but…

I know that it's a little late for your current condition, but I incorporate avocado in my diet as much as possible. A 150 g avocado has 23 g fat, 13 g carbs, 10 of which is fiber, 0 g sugar.

My next goal is to hit 154 lbs which would be the first time I've ever been clinically a normal weight. So close I can smell it!

I've lost an elephant penis and rack of ribs! Didn't know I had a whole elephant penis to lose.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, really. I definitely encourage people to stick with the recommendations of the health practitioners treating them, considering I am not one and I do not have the training to or have a full understanding of your medical history. What I do encourage is a questioning attitude in…

I want to start w/ congrats on your weight loss! I can't imagine the level of discipline in must take for you to have done this. I looked at your food log and it looked pretty darn good. Hmmm, so I'm not sure I agree with 2 things. #1 Food in my mind should be enjoyable. I look forward to cooking and I love my creations. I…

Lately breakfast has been 55-59 g egg (1 large egg equivalent), 14 g shredded cheese (1/8 cup), 3/4 tsp ghee (clarified butter) and about 1 heaping tbsp chives. That has 16 and 13 grams high quality fat and protein respectively. Prior to that, I ate 1 Morning Star veggie sausage patty, 1/4 avocado, 3-4 mushrooms roasted, 3…

What you've loss so far is roughly 10 lbs/month, which is a lot. Everyone definitely loses at different rates, even if you started at the same weight and have adopted the same regimen. You should judge what is a normal amount of weight loss in your 3 months more so from your doctor's opinion. You're likely not his/her…

I gave up cream in my coffee when I was 5. Just kidding of course. I like coffee black, no sugar. I must admit I'm curious to try it w/ coconut oil though! Sounds yummy ^_^

I'm really sorry your mum is not the most supportive role model for you right now. I myself and almost 4 month post-op VSG, and I've learned so much about nutrition and food during this phase. You know, we tell ourselves (at least I did), okay, just 1 more spoon or 1 delicious Ghiradelli coconut chocolate egg w/ ONLY 6 g…

I definitely fudge my pureed phase a bit. I mashed a veggie sausage patty and couldn't get 2 spoons down (well chewed as you did). I don't mean this to encourage your behaviour or embrace it, but your medical team's guidance is the best advice. 8 days out you're still very swollen and I'd personally use this time as an…

1 Morning Star Sausage patty packs 10 g protein (each patty is 1 oz), so the mornings my inner beast is alive and well, 2 of those eaten over an hour tames me for 3-4 hrs. Saag makes an apple chicken sausage to die for and packs 14g protein in one 3 oz sausage. If I do something smaller but desire more protein if I'm not…

I had my surgery almost 4 month ago and I weigh myself almost every day first thing in the morning. Now, this is not because I'm hoping to see dramatic weight loss, but to understand how my body loses weight and what causes me to gain weight. For instance, during that special time of month, no matter how fiercely I work…

I'm 28 years old and I am 12 days post op gastric sleeve. Yes, at first, your diet will be very limited. Your nutritionist will set a goal for you to get to, which will be difficult at first due to swelling, body reaction to products, etc. At this point, it's challenging to get up to 600 calories because I have to drink my…

I'm actually on day 2 of T25. My obliques, back, quads and even pecs are sore. I can do the first 6 mins or so with some pride, then it's a demoralising pause-fest, but I'm still at it. Keep on pushing on!
