Since I'm one of your friends whose diary you can see, I will comment on this topic. I have no idea if I'm one of the people you're referring to, but I just want to give you my perspective. 1) I absolutely agree with you about not all calories being equal. 2) My first goal in starting MFP was controlling my portions. 3) I…

Don't over work the legs, in addition to cardio to burn the fat off, do upper body strength training to give yourself a more balanced look. :-) HTH

"takes control" as in pics the restaurant? or as orders for you!?! Just make sure you order SIMPLE entrees. Grilled lean meats (not grilled in butter, as is common) with side of veggies. :-) Stay away from free bread or chips on the table and watch the dressings/dips/sauces.

Stay in my goal ;-) Was 25 cals over yesterday. :-( Plus yesterday was a day of rest, so today I workout. :-)

I always thought KPNUTS was cute. It makes sense that a dad would call his little girl that; makes it even more cute. :-)

I grew up in a house with someone who needed anger management and the emotional abuse was too much to handle. I haven't been back in years. It's better you move on now.

The 1274 # you calculated is your BMR, the 1528.85 is your TDEE. Although your math looks weird, since you clearly aren't 117.5 years old and aren't 160.02 inches tall.

Rest today. Light yoga and stretching. Whole grain pancakes with fresh fruit in the a.m. For lunch, whatever is a typical pre-run meal would probably work. Something like a turkey sandwich or peanut butter sandwich (on whole grain bread of course!), so that you're getting protein and carbs.

Love Tracy's idea. I'd allow healthy snacks too, so sticker plus apple slices or grapes. Then when x number of stickers are earned she can have ice cream or pizza or another treat. It will teach the importance of x healthy days allow 1 reward treat.

hehe that's what I meant by catnap! lol

Pizza!

The holy trinity of health is: sleep diet and exercise. It will make it harder to lose weight, so you HAVE to sneak catnaps in whenever you can. But just because it's harder doesn't mean you should give up until the kid is in college!!!

Welcome! What kind of graphic design do you do? Websites, apparel, print?

the message boards will give you support and motivation, jump right in!

I didn't suggest it does. But saving 500 calories a day so you can splurge on the weekend isn't healthy--that's what I meant.

I don't know about that specific brand, but my favorite is 150 cals for 5 cups popped. And yes, I occasionally eat the whole thing myself!

Your body isn't a bank, you should stay close to your goal each day.

Good for giving it a chance! It's a great site. :-) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/miekej

Excellent, so glad to see it when schools get into these things. I just wish the higher grades would as well. It seems in middle and high school there is no shortage of sugary drinks and pizza, fried chicken rings, etc. around campus.

Yeah HFCS is less expensive and sweeter than sucrose, so in theory the companies should be using less of it... instead they use more!!! makes no sense, right?
-
Are you eating enough?

On this, I'd definitely recommend only listening to your dr's advice. Your PT should be able to give you home exercises as well.

biking/cycling is excellent! Many cyclists are former runners because their knees can't handle all the weight. (Your knees experience 4x the weight, so for every 25 lbs you lose, your knees carry 100 lbs less.)

Protein is used in cellular function, metabolism (enzymes), immune responses and for building of muscle, hair, and nails. Every cell in the body uses protein to express it's genes. So if you have brown eyes, it's because protein made it that way. Feel free to read up on molecular biology if you're bored. lol Protein…
