  • @kristinegift to be honest, those guys could be complete morons and I wouldn't know any better, since they're just about my only source of info on ultra running, but they seem legit-ish. @ddmom0811 that's a fabulous picture. Congrats to you and her! 7 miles for me today. Brings my total to 35 for the month. Crushing that…
  • @gobonas99 man, good thing I can't afford carbon fiber. Who knew that came with perks? 7 mile run tonight, about 1/3 on trails. Beautiful day for a nice slow run. Bike:122 mi Run: 35 mi Swim: 5200m. Strength: 3 sessions X-training: 7 hrs backpacking In other news, stopped by the new tri shop in town and chatted with the…
  • @Ohhim how weird, last year you could get a slot at Louisville until days before the race. Maybe the usual crowd is scared off Tahoe after last year's day of cancellation. @skippygirlsmom I was just listening to a Trail Runner Nation podcast where the host said "when I realized I was allowed to walk up hills, I started to…
  • @ohhim oof, IMTahoe is a heck of a way to kick off your 140.6 career. I say do it but doesn't Tahoe sell out really fast? I'd think it would be full by now. IM Louisville is a rolling bike course in October, then there's Challenge Cedar Point, which I'm doing. You could always do Wisconsin or heck, even Chattanooga would…
  • I had, quite literally, been home for 20 minutes. She was already up on the work stand for a proper clean, I just wanted to watch the finish of the Tour of California first... By the time I got back to the garage, my poor Fuji was in pieces, being cleaned and polished by the men folk... I admit, sometimes I game the system…
  • Oh heck no. I will ride outside in all conditions (unless it's below 20 F or snowing) but I could not do that. Of course, I also did a run focused training block for the really bad couple of winter months this year, so I didn't need to bike as much- only had to do a handful of trainer rides all winter. There's the…
  • @gobonas99 I'm with you there, I watched House of Cards this winter on the trainer, but I never made it through more than 60 minutes at a time. And cycling is my favorite of the three sports... Not going anywhere is just so frustrating!
  • Oy vey, 2 hrs on the bike trainer? I'd quit and take up tennis or knitting... You're far tougher than me, clearly. I'm also a pretty slow swimmer by normal standards, but besides the handful of insane triathletes, there's no one under 70 using our pool for laps regularly. We always just split the lane. No circle swimming…
  • Yeah, unfortunately it isn't organized that way at my gym. You pretty much just get in whatever lane doesn't already have 2 people in it, which means we have slow breast stroke lane, slower breast stroke lane, and water aerobics with slow breast stroke. Lol Any time I've said something about choosing a more appropriate…
  • Tried to swim this morning, but called it quits after only about 800 meters. I was feeling sore and a bit grumpy and the old water aerobics ladies invaded my lane so I decided it just wasn't worth it. They're sweet and cute and old and all but, I just wasn't feeling it today. [insert lengthy rant about never getting my own…
  • @gobonas99 the Lofty Ladies ride sounds cool. Most of the group rides are pretty bro-tastic around here. Speaking of which, rode 21 miles with my actual bro[ther] tonight. He still thinks he's going to drop me if we go more than 15 mph, so it was a fun easy ride. Ran this morning before work, 3 mi with strides. Bike:122 mi…
  • You're on a roll this week, my friend. Each post better than the last.
  • Overslept (ahem, again) so I just barely snuck in 3 miles before work this morning. Tossed in some strides for funsies. Hopefully I can force myself to do a short brick run after tonight's bike ride. 28 miles. *eyeroll*
  • Ran to the gym so I could swim tonight, got there and the pool was closed for maintenance. Lifted for a bit and ran home. 2.5 miles is all for me today. Yesterday's trail run was rough on the hamstrings. Run: 25 miles total. Bike: 101 mi Swim: 4400 m Strength: 3 sessions X-train: 7 hrs backpacking

  • I run in adrenalines but I had them fitted by a professional, which is what I'd recommend that you do. Don't buy shoes that you haven't tried on, no matter how good the deal. A professional at a dedicated running store is worth their weight in gold. They'll measure your feet, assess your gait, and have you try on and run…
  • By the way, @skippygirlsmom and @LoneWolfRunner, those are nifty medals. I love it when race directors get creative (just not TOO creative, like the genius that came up with my purple-American-Indian-shooting-an-arrow belt buckle that's 5 inches wide and creepy)
  • Raced the single loop 5.4 mile course today, instead of the 2 loop course so I could ride with my dad this afternoon. Glad I did because it was muddy, hilly, rocky, humid and totally awesome! Latched on to someone from Team RWB around mile 2 and we ended up running together the whole way and crossing the finish line…
  • @cblue315 Welcome to the wonderful, insane world of triathlon! Good luck at your first race. My first race was a comedy of errors, but I was hooked the second I crossed that finish line! Bike: 101 miles total. Fun easy ride with my dad after we watched the Tour of California today. He was inspired by Sagan and kept trying…
  • Bike: 91 miles total. Easy 90 minute spin this evening Run: 16.5 miles total . 5 miles on Thursday night. Swim: 4400 meters total. Had to share my lane with a couple of elderly water aerobics ladies this morning, but I still got a quick speed workout in this morning. X-training total: 7 hrs of backpacking Strength: 2…
  • Did a nice easy 5 last night in the dark. I almost didn't go out at all , so I'm glad I managed to drag my butt out the door. Thinking my long run this weekend may be the local 10 mile trail race, so I'm excited for that. 16.something/75 miles  And, since we're sharing, allow me to introduce my noble hound: She's…
  • Cosigned. I did a lot of transition practice ahead of time and it helped a lot. There are a lot of variables in transition that massively affect the whole race. You might like Twotri.com, which I referred to a LOT when I first started out. They wrote a pretty solid beginner plan you may find useful and have a lot of good…
  • @SonicDeathMonkey80 Oh man, it wasn't originally on my calendar, since I'll be tapering for my Half Ironman, but I think I can work out a way to fit that into my taper., because that looks so very awesome. 3 mile brick run for me today. A measly 11.5/75 miles this month.
  • Okay, I've been away a few days, so I've got a bit to add. Bike: 65/300 miles. 15 miles on Friday, 25 easy tonight Run: 11.5/75 Did a 5k with the kid's team I coach on Saturday plus a 3 mile brick run tonight Swim: 3000/12000 meters- long steady swim in a very crowded pool last night. X-training: 7 hrs of backpacking with…
  • This weekend, my Girls on the Run team did their for 5k- they all did SO well, I'm really proud of them. I was a running buddy to Jasmine, who is easily the most competitive kid I know, but we just went out and had fun, even took a detour through the fountains because it was SO hot. She finished in about 38 minutes- no…
  • Finally got my first run of the month in! 5.1 miles on a mix of local MTB trails and pavement. Did last half mile at my 5k pace just to see how I felt. It was great   5.1/75 miles

  • I don't think I have ever considered carrying a weapon with me when running, but I'm also a hippie liberal who has never considered buying one, so that may be why. Honestly, my biggest fears out there are dogs, cars, and blowing out my knee far from home. And I hate running with other people, so I have adapted thusly: -…
  • I'm currently on the "my stomach is trying to escape my body and kill me diet." Works like a charm, but it's a bit restrictive- you're only allowed jello, Gatorade, and saltines, or you die. I mean, at least, that's what it feels like. Sorry about all the troubles, blobby10, feel better soon!
  • I believe you. I have made huge improvements already. Still would've been grumpy if you passed me while downing a beer.
