One idea is to download the Epicurious app and search a key healthy ingredient such as quinoa. Then you can browse the recipes and see the comments and ratings others have given. I use it often. Please advise. I thought I was replying below another persons comment, but then I'm at the bottom of a bunch of other comments,…

What a great idea! Your meals look delicious. I also like to eat a lot of vegetarian meals and love to cook, but I don't think my presentations are as nice as yours. I'm sure you'll be successful in your weight loss goals. Thanks for sharing.

It's a psychological thing. Just trying to feel full and be able to snack while sort of getting rewarded for eating fruit vs a salty snack. But I'm not going overboard, just borrowing that idea from weight watchers, since they must have done research that showed it to be valuable (although theirs is a point system). I'm…

I have a similar weight goal to yours and I am 63 and also find it harder to lose weight. I used to be very skinny as a kid and even after I had children, but then gradually the pounds piled on. Maybe we can encourage each other. I am new to mfp and don't really know the difference between replying to one another in forums…

Thank you and same to you. It sounds beautiful there and the 50's is a nice comfortable temperature! We just left western Massachusetts, where we enjoyed a beautiful fall, with great leaf scenes, mountain views (hills compared to the Sierras), nearby farms and fun hiking and biking. Once the temps got into the 20's at…

Hi, My name is Marilyn. I've just restarted using this site. I originally joined last August and then stopped recording my foods after awhile. Logging my foods is definitely something I need to do as my weight is gradually building up again. I have about 20 to 25 pounds to lose. This looks like a fun group, using a…

I just began re-using MFP, after starting and then stopping its use. I think I really need to hold myself accountable for my eating, so I'm glad to be recording my food entries again. I also am meditating more regularly. I found a great site for guided meditations, which starts you off at 10 minute intervals, then 15…

I highly recommend the fitbit. It's a tiny high tech pedometer that can sync with mfp as well as all your devices and is very motivating. It also doesn't fall off. It sounds like you do a lot of walking, so this would make you feel good about your exercise. Re calories, sometimes it's the things you don't think of that add…

Thanks for posting this. They are good suggestions. Dr. Oz also suggested mixing two tablespoons of chia seeds into a glass of water before the worst time of the day to help make you feel full. At least that would deal with the hunger portion of why we eat. I'm a late afternoon snacker and just got this app, so I'm hoping…
