  • So far I know.. you don't. Can't be done.
  • Aha.. It isn't just me..
  • Hai Pete, I have added you (and the ones above) in GC. Feel free to add me in MFP.
  • First of all, check with a doctor with a special education on sport if it is a shin-split. I have been treated 10 years for shin-splints by physiotherapists, orthopedic's en GP's, but after that time and a consult with a medical-specialist on sports it was revealed that I had chronic compartment syndrome. A short operation…
  • Hi. My name is Johan, 42 years old and living in the netherlands. I have my vivofit a week now. I'm trying to make it work in combination with my 310XT that I use when I exercise. As usual with Garmin, the hardware is great but the software is way below par. Hope the get there act together in the next month or so, but…
  • My diary is open for friends. Feel free to add me.
  • Well, maybe she has a point. But not in the way she means it I think. Now I have started to count calories and eat healthy, I have been eating a lot more (in quantity) but a lot less in calorie. 2 slice's of bread with a normal healthy thing on it (can't find a some so fast that I know the English name for) is a lot bigger…
  • Yes... The routes I kickbick of mountainbike are the same, and still I'm burning less and less calories (measurement with HRM). There are two main reasons for that. 1) Weightloss. I'm losing weight that I don't have to carry around during my exercise 2) Better cardiofitness. My body is getting used to exercise. And there…
  • First of all. How do you know it are shin-splints?? I have been treated 8 years for shin splints to find out I had compartent syndrome :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compartment_syndrome#Chronic_compartment_syndrome surgical intervention did help a lot, but not to start running again.. therefore.. The Kickbike. But lets…
  • As usual I would say, the truth is a lot more complex. A operation alone is almost never the anwer. A lot of reachears on this is done by Gerbrand van Hout. For example: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1381/0960892053723484#page-1 http://arno.uvt.nl/show.cgi?fid=80802#page=127 There is no black or white.. only grey.
  • Funny thing is in my family the people who got married are now divorced and the ones that didn't are still together? With the modern divorce-rate, it looks that even somebody who does get married is more sure that it is permanent.
  • Why was that so important to you?? Just curios I'm dutch and marriage is very optional here. Almost very couple moves in together before marriage. If they even marry at all (most of my friends didn't). Legally there is little difference over here if you marry or not. Only when you have children there is a bit more…
  • Dutch... if it ain't dutch, it ain't ....... :)
  • ^^ Also this. And because there are free alternatives and MFP is not so much better as the rest that it is worth the money.
  • Well the first question is what can you do. You say the lower half of you body, but what is the problem? Ankel, foot, knee? The impact of running? That makes it a lot easier to give advice.
  • Kickbike... You can do the same round in you park, but with a lot less impact on you joints (even less as walking). And you can do this very slow (lite)... I love it :) http://kickbike.com/
  • There is no "right thing". Find what works for you! That is the main goal. If you carefully study al literure (real one's not internet) you will find the only one thing is proven effective. E Even more evective than have a operation. That is psycho-cognitive therapy (or change your mindset). As long as you eat less as you…
  • Try a kickbike. A sort of running, without putting 3 to 4 times you weight on you joints. I love it, can't run because of a Compartment syndrome in my shins. But now I'm hooked on kickbiking.
  • The kickbike is great. Surely for people like me, who have a problem running. I can't run because of a problem with my shin's, so gained a lot of kilo's. Cycling is great, but cost a lot of time to burn calories. Now I using a kikebike and use almost as much as running. without the strain of 3 time's my own weight on my…
