  • Just read a couple of follow-on novels to Pride and Prejudice. The first one was Longbourne by Jo Baker, which was revisiting P&P from the servant's perspective and reading their story. It was entertaining... but not really anything to do with Pride and Prejudice. Nonetheless I enjoyed the read. Then I read a Return to…
  • To be honest with you, I also thought it seemed obsessive. If it's helped you recognise and eliminate migraine triggers I can understand it though.
  • Lol yes - had a horrific argument with Himself and ran my fastest 5k by far....then kept on running for another 10 minutes! I miss running (had to give it up in favour of other exercises as it caused hip problems).
  • So you're younger than him, fitter than him and you could (in his mind) do better than him. Probably. It's a common reaction. If he can get you to look a bit less good than you're less likely to attract attention from other men and less likely to stray. He's being an idiot. And as for showing you photos of Nicole…
  • Can you add me please? 43 years old. Started shaping up last year - I lost 3 stones but put half of it back on during a horrible family time in September-December. New year, getting back on track. Trying the 5:2 diet and so far it's going well. Weight has been a life-long battle for me: I'm hoping the overall trend is…
  • I don't think it matters which one you use - pick the one that says 2lbs lighter if that makes you happier, lol. The thing to do is to always use that scale, in the same place at the same time of day. And don't get in the habit of weighing yourself every day - once a week is enough to keep a track of your weight.
  • How often do you eat out? If this is a rare treat, I'd forget about calorie counting and enjoy it! Have a low cal breakfast and lunch, enjoy what you eat on the meal out and then get back to counting tomorrow morning. Oh, and if you do workout/gym/classes this week don't add those calories onto your daily total. You'll…
  • I see where the original poster is coming from: when I first started losing weight my partner started buying foods that I specifically love (but are fattening) where he didn't before. We had a fairly frank conversation: turns out he was thrown sideways by my sudden change in lifestyle and wondered if I was getting bored of…
  • Dear ladies, Unlike the flesh and blood people in my life, you might just understand why I'm feeling a little stunned and pleased with myself: I bought a 2-pack of chocolate eclairs (YUM!!) at lunchtime and for the first time pretty much ever, I did not eat both. I ate one, checked out the calories (250, yoinks) and then I…
  • Morning all, I did a BodyPump class for the first time yesterday. It was a lot more fun than I expected (!) but I'm starting to ache now. The dog'll get a good walk tonight as I'll need to loosen everything up again. I weigh myself tomorrow. Am doing a 500cal day today.... they're not easy but I'm starting to get used to…
  • I think of it as a kind of addiction. I am better than I used to be but I still do it occassionally. What I do now is: Recognise trigger points - for me it's if I feel I've been a bit of a failure or if I'm feeling lonely. Acknowledge the craving for food but tell yourself you won't eat for the next 30 minutes. Find…
  • Did the C25k last year (at the age of 42-43) and really enjoyed running. Unfortunately I did develop plantar fasciitis and hip bursitis. Fortunately I'm a podiatrist so I recognised the signs and knew what to do about it: I rested from running and did lots of stretching exercises & added a pair of orthoses to my shoes. The…
  • I'm a life-long yo-yo dieter, hovering somewhere between a size 14-16 until my divorce nearly 10 years ago. In the immediate aftermath of the divorce I lost a load of weight without trying, but when I met my current partner (a chef) the weight crept on. We've been together over 8 years and in that time I put on 3 stones.…
  • Hi there - I'm 43 and need to lose around 2.5 stones. I was very overweight and lost 3 stones last year (leaving 1 to go) but had a bad end of year, comfort ate & put on 1.5 stones. So, here we go again. I'm doing the 5:2 diet and this app is helping keep track of calories on the 5 "non-dieting" days. I aim to only lose…
