Not exactly, though I do have an emergency contingency in my maintenance plan (not there yet) that triggers at certain size or weight thresholds; and you can bet that if that happens I'll be counting again.

Will definitely log - I log partially for accountability and partially for tracking purposes, and the tracking is still valuable. But if I come in at less than 3k calories I'll be sad :(

Perspective is also an alternative. Feast with your family; celebrate. Don't eat just because it's there, but don't pretend the 3 big feasts a year really impact your health plan.

It's an estimate but yes, but it's not daily. If you eat around 500 calories over what you burn a day for 7 days, you can expect to gain a pound. Just like eating 500 calories under what you burn every day will likely lose a lb over a week. It's not quite that simple, but it's close enough to work.
