  • 1. What type of results did you see with the program? Definitely increased cardiovascular fitness. It has helped with my cycling as well. 2. Did you experience weight loss? Yes - I'd stuck at about 144lbs and it kickstarted me again. I'm now around 137lbs but staying put (that's more my eating though than the running!).…
  • There are 3 particular songs for me because they seem to fit my stride pattern really well: Pendulum - Witchcraft Amy Studt - Misfit Pat Benetar - Love is a Battefield But I listen to lots of different things, everything from Kylie to Black Eyed Peas to Glee!
  • Just to add though, I used the MFP database for cycling calories before I got my polar FT4. For a 10 minute cycle ride, MFP would estimate I'd burned about 150 calories. My FT4 (exact same ride) only said 90 or so (and the less I weigh the lower than number gets LOL). I was gutted when I found out the HRM was so much lower…
  • Wow, there's some amazing mileage going on in this thread! 600 miles in a month is just wow! Well got a nice 12-14 mile ride planned for later today if this blasted headache goes - so should at least manage the 150!
  • Arrgh unless I can do 12 miles tomorrow I'm just short of the target!!! Edit: odd, mytrackie thing hasn't updated - it should say monthly miles 138!
  • Ooh, good thread, I've seen those infomercials and was tempted but never taken the plunge (I'm a total sucker for hair stuff!). I wonder if I can track some down cheap on Fleabay...... On a side note, has anyone tried Sheer Cover mineral makeup, and does it work as well as they say? Gotta love infomercials LOL.
  • Thankees!
  • LOL I know where the "wrong stuff" bit is but I just can't quit crisps!!!!!
  • That's great, thank you for the advice - I will give that a try.
  • Food diary says: Daily goal 1450 cals Carbs: 199 Fat: 48 Protein: 54 Sat fat: 16 Sodium: 2,500 Obviously these go up when I add exercise calories? Having looked at my diary for a few days I vary on whether I'm under the 54 or over.
  • Other way round for me I'm afraid - 5.8 mile run last night - Polar FT4 showed 700-odd cals - Runkeeper showed 1098 cals!
  • Yes, I did notice that you don't actually get quite to the 5k distance in the 30 minutes but it's not far off  But then I guess some people might, I suppose it depends on your pace etc. Half the problem with C25K and running generally is the mental barrier - if you can get through that thought of "It's too far, I…
  • Thanks for all the replies peeps  SHBoss - I already re-set my goal about 8 weeks ago to 1/2lb loss a week. At the moment I am going up and down between 9st 9lbs and 9st 13lbs (i work better in stones than pounds!). I am at the point where I don't want to lose any more weight, but I do want to shift the layer of fat…
  • Welcome - hope you didn't mind!! Isn't an amazing achievement when you finish the 9th week???
  • And you!!! Doesn't matter if you walked. ran, galloped or cycled the 5k, you're still doing more than the person who's sitting on their couch glued to the TV. :flowerforyou: As for those people who sent you nasty messages, they should be bl**dy well ashamed of themselves - that doesn't help anyone and they should get a…
  • Best time for me (one and only 5k race so far!) was 28:46 which I'm delighted with. Am aiming to beat it next month, even if only by a second or two!! Some fantastic times here - we should all be v. proud!
  • My highest average heart rate has been 165 BPM on a 5k race (haha one and only race so far!) - average was 165, and max showed as 176. I'm never quite sure about all these ranges and zones, it seems to me that my HR goes up and that's it, the only way to bring it down is to stop whatever I'm doing which surely defeats the…
  • Thanks both - didn't realise that  Edit: have had a look and can see where to add weight and/or body fat %, but is there anywhere for age, height, sex etc? Sorry, I can't see it anywhere but I am having one of *those* days so it's probably right in front of me!!
  • Great post  I've just finished C25K myself and would add these: 1) Good runs and bad runs You might find that one session, your run is so easy you could just keep going. The next time, you might struggle and find it really difficult. Guess what? It doesn't matter, you still went out and did it. I've had one week…
  • I use Runkeeper, I started a couple of weeks ago with it. I like it so far, it's really good although the calorie burn seems a little hit-and miss: 4.8 mile run - Tuesday 19th July - Runkeeper = 578 cals, Polar FT4 = 568 cals 3.44 mile run today - Runkeeper = 509 cals, Polar FT4 = 377 cals Runkeeper is generally higher…
  •    These were on TV over the weekend - soooooo funny!!!!! "Come to the backside of the Force, Luke......" LMAO!!!
  • As we're on a site where people's weight ranges from 100-400lbs, hopefully no-one will be offended by this. I've been talking about this to a lady in our office who is qualified and does know what she's talking about (don't ask me what she used to do LOL cause I can't remember, but I know she taught lots of classes such as…
  • Huh. It's odd, I've never understood the link between clothing size and weight - what I mean is, I've seen ladies post that they are a UK dress size 10, and yet weight 160 or 170 pounds - that's where I started and I was a UK size 16 or 18 - not a hope in hell of getting anywhere near a UK 10!!! Me: 137lbs (or thereabouts)…
  • I've got a little pouch that straps round my wrist on a velcro strap - big enough for keys and a lip balm. The link will show you what it looks like: http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/travel/equipment/security/runners-wrist-wall-p5689.aspx
  • This!! I started off hating running, thought I'd give C25K a go as someone told me it was good for burning fat - I have now done my first 5K race AND I've joined a running club!!!!! I would also add that if you don't like it, you'll never keep doing it, so you should really find something you enjoy and will keep on…
  • Well done on your NSV - but I have to ask - can anyone tell me what a snickerdoodle cookie is???? Sounds amazing!!!!
  • Fantastic job to OP and to everyone else who has posted on this thread  Breathing and believing that YOU CAN are the secrets to running I think!!

  • Well.....technically you can eat more than usual - just not quite as much as you might think LOL! I have a Polar FT4 and did a run last night with a group (just under 5 miles, about an hour so not terribly fast) - says I burnt 568 calories (Runkeeper gave me 578, so happy that they were both about the same) - so that's a…
  • Asics Gel-Cumulus 12 for me (I think). First purpose-fitted running shoes ever by a local shop that caters for proper tri-athletes (I decided i deserved a treat for sticking to C25K LOL) and they're great. Very surprising what a difference it makes.
  • Have to say can't comment on the treadmill side of it as I run outside, but I can promise you it is doable and it does get better - I completed week 9 last week. And believe me I struggled to run for 60 seconds at the start - in fact I think I actually did less than that, probably no more than 40 before giving up!!!!…
