  • Wow. I am almost at a loss for words. I am not really sure how I feel about this thread, or more accurately I feel many conflicting emotions when it comes to this thread. I agree that it is important to be honest with yourself, own your decisions and not make excuses, but I do not agree that this is easy. I think that most…
  • Cool, thanks :)
  • Thanks everyone! I have a high pain tolerance so that isn't a concern. I have ugly feet so although I think it is a cool spot for a tattoo I don't really want to call attention to me feet :) I think what I am going to do is buy some Halloween themed temporary tattoos and experiment with location to see what I like. I am…
  • Halloween anniversary! Awesome! I wanted to have a Halloween wedding. Even though he isn't a Halloween freak my husband was willing to do it. Our parents were less than thrilled so we ended up not doing it. For Halloween tattoos I also considered getting some sort of haunted house silhouette.
  • Trying again to get the photo to work.
  • Great suggestions! I will definitely use some of these. Thanks to the OP and congrats on starting your new lifestyle. You can do this!
  • Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Your words of wisdom are truly inspiring. When I feel impatient and like I want to quit I will go back and read your story :)
  • Wow, I am now much more thankful for the experiences I have had in my life so far. I have not seen anything as horrifying as what some people have posted. For stuff in movies and online I am really careful what I will watch because things do tend to stay with me for a long time. I have not seen any hanging or beheadings or…
  • I have been buying really great date bars from my local farmer's market. They are great. They are not that low in calories but they are packed full of nutrients and if I don't have a lot of wiggle room in my daily calories I eat half. With flavours like peanut butter chocolate or blueberry macadamia you can't go wrong! The…
  • My profile photo is my sheppard rotti mix, Liebherr. He is 8 months old and is from a local rescue organization. He is the friendliest dog ever. Just a bundle of energy and love. He makes me a better person and shows me how to take joy in the small things in life. Previously we had a cat who we adopted from a friend as a…
  • You mentioned the Dove commercials in your post. I really like the new Penningtons commercials. The women are gorgeous and confident!
  • I too am guilty of this. This is what I tell myself when I am anxious to get to the finish line - Good things take time, doing it slow will help me feel healthier and happier (not starving) and will become a permanent lifestyle change - Progress is progress even if it is small. Celebrate every win! I think of how it will…
  • Totally agree. Honestly I am appalled by your husband's behaviour. You need to talk to your husband and make him understand that the stress this is putting on you and your relationship must be his top priority. What would happen if you got into a fatal car accident from being tired because your inlaws kept you up late at…
  • I definitely can relate. I was on here a few years ago and had a lot of success. I ran a half marathon! And like you I saw my family and friends getting motivated by me to make healthy changes in their own lives. Although I am not sure how I let it happen, I have since gained back what I have lost. I am back on MFP for a…
  • What a great story! You are such an inspiration! You look awesome! I ran my first half marathon in 2009 and it was such an amazing experience. It was something I never dreamed I was capable of. Recently stress has taken over and I have put back on some weight. I'm committed to getting back into shape and getting back into…
  • I think often posts come across harsher than the person intended. Often they are just trying to share their knowledge and experience and prevent people from making the same mistakes they made. I agree that we should not judge but there is nothing wrong with giving advice or constructive criticism. Being positive and…
  • Relax. There is no way it is fat. But I would caution you to reconsider the total calories you are consuming. It sounds like you aren't eating enough considering the amount of excersing you are doing. I know it sounds counter intuitive to eat more when you are trying to lose weight but you don't want to plateau. Your body…
  • I think this is about him being insecure. You have to do what is best for you. If you decide the pizza isn't worth the calories don't eat it. It can be hard when 1 person in a relationship is making such a big change. The other person can feel left behind. Assure him that you love him and are doing this to improve your…
  • Do not weigh yourself so often! It is only going to make you more anxious if you don't see a drop or if you see an increase. Your weight can naturally fluctuate day to day by a few pounds. So weighing yourself everyday is not productive. At most weigh yourself once a week and as long as you are seeing a general downward…
  • What results have you seen? How much do you want to lose in total? It takes time and if your photo is recent it looks like you don't have a lot to lose, which is great but also means it will take longer to lose. Try to focus on other things besides just the scale. I have found that when I am exercising and eating healthy I…
  • I fear you are not eating enough and are putting your metabolism at risk. 16lbs in 2.5 weeks is not healthy or sustainable. You are obviously very focused and have a lot of will power which is great. I would recommend eating back some of your exercise calories. Working out for 1-2 hrs per day and only eating 1200 calories…
  • You have to make it a priority, no excuses! And you have to make it fun! Having a support system like MFP also helps  Also, it has to be a permanent lifestyle change (not a diet) and thus sustainable. For me this means indulging in a glass of red wine and dark chocolate on occassion.
  • You weight can naturally fluctuate by 5lbs so don't weight yourself daily; weekly or monthly is sufficient. Starting an execise routine can initially cause water retention which will show as a weight gain. It is temporary. Stick with it and you will get the results you want.
  • Sounds good as long as the weather cooperates. Maybe I get convince my husband to come with me
  • Live in Barrie, Ontario (1 hr north of TO) Work in Brampton, Ontario (near TO) Anyone else from Barrie by any chance? I could use a work out buddy!
  • Are you sick too or do you just have a headache? For me it depends on the cause of the headache. Sometimes drinking water and eating some fruit seems to help. I also like to take a relaxing bath. Getting a neck massage might also help. I use to get headaches all the time and then found out I have a milk allergy. If you get…
  • You are doing great! Don't skip the party. Weightloss takes time and there is no reason not to enjoy yourself along the way  I think you look great in the dress already, but if you are not comfortable in it wear something else. You are doing great. I had a quick look at your food diary and you seem to be making good…
  • Just tried chia seed today. I added it to my oatmeal. It expands and becomes a creamy thick texture. Great in many recipes and will fill you up. Also, when of the healthiest things you can eat. Packed full of fibre, nutrients and Omega 3. Definitely will be adapting my diet to get more of it in.
  • I am very impressed with the customer service at Timex. I have had my heart rate monitor/watch for a few years and I love it but it stopped working. I sent it in for repair. They inspected my watch and sent me a new one (my heart rate chest strap was still functional). They only charged me $8 US for the new watch and no…
