Can you share it with the kids or other teachers? Or bring it home for your family?

Day 1 of 15 day cleanse to rid my body of excess yeast. Missing my morning coffee a bit. However, with the horrible driving conditions I wouldn't have had time to drink it anyways. Breakfast was ok. Unsweetened coconut made the oatmeal edible. I added chia to it for the first time. The chia was awesome! I couldn't believe…

I think it is a great idea! My family buys me healthy snacks and fitness stuff now for Christmas. If you are worried she might be offended why not try something a bit less obvious like a fruit basket or a basket of nice healthy, organic food?

How old are your shoes? When I was training for a half marathon my knees started to hurt and it turned out to be my shoes. Recently my right knee has been bothering me. I know part of it is weight gain. I spoke to my doctor about it and he recommended doing some strength training exercises to build up the muscles in my leg…

Interesting thread. I am lucky to live in Canada so we have free healthcare, however we do have health and medical benefits through work. I can see both sides of the issue. I don't think it is fair to equate bad habits (like smoking and overeating) with a disease that is outside of someone's control (like cancer). I think…

Sure that sounds great! I have decided that there is no way I can completely eliminate yeast from my diet since Christmas is coming, but I have decided to cut back alot and see if it makes a difference. Do u have any good recipes?

Thanks everyone! I am going to make a dr appointment but I probably won't be able to see until the new year. So in the meantime I am going to monitor what I eat and reduce anything with yeast in it. Given the holiday season I don't think I will be able to completely eliminate these things from my diet but I will try to be…

My starting weight was 255lb. I have lost 75 than gained back 20, but I know I will get down to my goal of 150lbs. I don't know what a rice diet is but I would stay away from anything that is really restrictive. You do not need to starve your body to lose weight. You just need to make sensible choices and have an active…

I would have to say PINK! She has an amazing body. She is in such great shape. She has gone from lean, to curvy to muscular to atheletic. She looks really atheletic and healthy right now. She is well toned and isn't super skinny. She always looks great! And I love her style too. As a side note congrats to her and her hubby…

Slow and steady wins the race. Losing it slow will help you to keep it off.

Mini meals and if needed choose healthy high calories snacks like nuts.

Dogs can have nasty health issues too. I love both cats and dogs. If it continues to be an issue I would definitly talk to the vet about a permanent solution because that must be horrible for both you and the cat. And what happens if you are away for an extended period of time? I miss my cat. He passed away 2 years ago. I…

Keep it up. You look great!

I eat around 1400-1600 per day and I eat most if not all of my exercise calories. So on a day I am working out I eat around 2,000. When I was training for my half marathon probably even a bit more than that. Less is not more. Your body needs its fuel.

Congrats! We all need a break sometimes. I would just say make sure not to cut back on your workouts too much. I find I have to stick to a fairly consistent routine and make it a habit or I end up getting away from it. I try to work out 4 times per week. I have recently started adding Yoga back in to my regime. I hope that…

Don't apologize for venting. It helps to get these things out and sometimes the compassion and insight of strangers can help. I am really sorry you are going through all that. I too am struggling through a particularly stressful time and can sort of relate. Although I think it pales in comparisson to what you are going…

One more thing, replace your shoes every 500-800 kms. Maybe sooner if you use them for other activities too. Keep an eye on your treads. I learnt this the hard way. My running shoes were really old and my knees were killing me. When I replaced them I couldn't believe the difference.

Great tips! I went from being a non-runner to doing my first half marathon last year. I have a few extra tips that have helped me: 1) For better or worse I am a mouth breather. I find chewing gum while I run helps to keep my mouth moist and I like to think it makes me look less I am hunting for insects. 2) Taking a really…

Here is a good article about the order of exercising. Seems to depend on what you want to accomplish. If you want to build cardio endurance, cardio first. Build muscle and strength, weight train first. Burn calories or fat, either order. My trainers highly believed in building muscle to burn fat, which I think is why they…

Unless the trainers I have spoken to are wrong it is not personal preference it is more efficient for your body. I'll see if I can find the reason online.

And weighing yourself every single day is a horrible idea!:noway: Our weight can naturally fluctuate by up to 5 lbs based on the time of day, hormone levels, hydration levels, etc. You will drive yourself crazy if you weigh yourself every day. Once a week is more than enough and even then you should only be focusing on the…

Wait. You are only eating 1200 calories a day and you work out for an hour and a half? :noway: How many calories are you burning? Probably somewhere around 600-800. Your body needs more fuel! And probably a break! I would recommend cutting back bit on your workouts. At the very least you should give your muscles a 24hr…

Honestly, I just don't see the point. It implies that there is something wrong with other healthy foods such as whole grains, lean proteins, dairy, healthy oils, etc. I have definitely increase my intake of fruit and veggies but I would never be able to make it a full day on just them :)
-
I would switch things up. I get bored if I do the same activity for too long. Also, I've been told by my trainer and others that you should always do weight training first and cardio after. i can't remember the reason for it though.

Make your food diary public. Are you eating back any of the calories you are burning? Are you changing up your exercise routine from time to time? Do you get a good nights sleep? There could be any number of reasons why the scale isn't moving. But if your are losing inches and you look and feel better why the obsession…

I don't have any children and that is making me rethink my desire to ever have any!
-
I've been told that is normal. I get that too. Both on the eliptical and the recumbant bike.

Sorry one more thing. To ensure I stuck to it, when I decided to quit smoking I posted it on MFP before I could change my mind! Everyone was really supportive which helped alot.
-
Congrats on making such an awesome decision. You can do this and it is so worth it! I quit about 18months ago because I started training for a 1/2 marathon. I knew there was no way I could complete it as a smoker. And I felt like a hypocrite telling people about my new healthy, active lifestyle and weightloss when I was…

For me eating 5-6 smaller meals per day seems to help. It feels like I am always eating something. Also, I always bring my lunch to work. That way I won't be tempted to eat out. I'm too cheap to waste a perfectly good lunch by going out :)
