One of my breakthrough moments was when I realized this wasn't a race. Speed isn't the goal and there is no finish line. This is a lifestyle change and it is forever. It isn't easy but it is rewarding. The benefits of eating healthy and being active help to prevent me from falling back into old routines. That and still…

Very intersting! There are also devices that will measure your body fat %. A signal is sent through your body and the time it takes to reach the device again is measured and used to determine your body composition fat/water/muscle. I think the idea is that due to the different in density the time it takes to pass through…

I quit smoking over a year ago. My reason was similar. I was training for my first half marathon and I felt stupid working out and then going home to smoke. Also I knew there was no way I could hit my fitness goals (including running the race) as a smoker. So I quit. I also temporarily gave up drinking because I very…

I understand your frustration but you shouldn't be excited about a fast showing weightloss since it would only be temporary. And really a 12hr fast isn't going to show much of a difference on the scale. Also, weighing daily is not accurate and will just cause more frustration. Your weight can fluctuate naturally by a few…

Congrats on making such a fantastic decision! You can do this! I quit just over a year ago when I began training for my first 1/2 marathon. It was (and still is) hard but the benefits have made it so worthwhile. My asthma has virtually disappeared, food tastes better, exercising is easier and I smell better and have more…

Kraft makes some really good olive oil dressings. In particular I like the rasberry and the fig balsamic ones.

Awesome job!

I'm straight but also Gay/lesbian friendly. A few of my best friends are lesbians. I went to Pride in TO a few years ago and it rocked. Anyone going this year?
-
Me too! I quit to train for a 1/2 marathon. I didn't gain any weight but I didn't lose any either. I also had to temporarily give up drinking since I closely associated drinking and smoking. I have been smoke free for over a year!

This takes time. 14lbs in less than 2 months is fantastic! Try not to over analyze things. What is important is that you are on a general downward trend and that you are doing it the right way! Also don't be afraid to take a day off every once in a while

Show your love and appreciation every day and it can be as simple as a compliment, a thank you or an I love you. I think it is important to still say and do the things you did before you were married. For example, sometimes my hubby does sweet things out of the blue like he will bring me a warm towel just as I am stepping…

If you can afford to chuck them then definitely do so. For me, I can't afford to buy new clothes every dress size I lose so I tend to keep them until they are pretty loose. Then I donate them.

I have a nike +. I like it except my sensor died after only a few months and they are expensive to replace. Be sure to actually turn your sensor off when you aren't using it to reserve battery life. Also, if you are really tall or short be sure to callibrate it to make sure it measures distance accurately. I like that you…

Apparently it is actually carried at most groecery stores. I have heard it is at Loblaws in the health food section. I but it at the Bulk Barn. It isn't cheap but it tastes good.

I do think we need to be accountable for our own health, but that being said I would question what guidelines would be used to categorize someone as fat? I live in Canada where in general we don't pay for our health care (well I guess we do in a sense through our taxes). What I think might work better is making people pay…

It looked like most days your exercise was only adding 200 calories. This seems low for doing Jillian's 30 day shred program. You may need to try increasing your calories a bit.

Interesting thread. Please keep up updated. I'm going through something similar. My periods have been really light the last few months and this month it was light and has been really really light. I have also been feeling kind of off -- a bit of an upset stomach, minor headaches, gas, and emotional. I took a pregnancy test…

I'm sorry you are getting frustrated and not seeing the results you want. I've looked at your diary and your diet does seem well balanced and I see that you do eat back some of your exercise calories. What type of exercise do you do? I've noticed that the amount of extra calories it is giving you is quite low. Maybe you…

Sometimes I get that too. Also, I find if I am out in the cold for a while and then I go into somewhere warm my legs itch while they warm up. So I definitely think it is related to circulation.

My migraines seem to be brought on by two things 1) Stress 2) Allergies A few years ago I found out that I am very allergic to cow's milk. That was a big surprise for me. I had never put it together before on my own. By cuttting back on the milk I have drastically reduced my migraines. Have you been tested for allergies?

Replace your shoes regularly. Also what I have really found helps for shin splints and sore legs in general is to have a 20 min cold bath soaking my legs after a run. This is much more effective than ice packs. Then afterwards I will have a warm bath or shower. I find having the cold bath really helps to reduce the pain I…

I agree with everyone. I think your body is trying to tell you that you don't need to lose any more weight. Why obsess over a number? Instead spend the time doing thing you enjoy and spending time with your loved ones.

Interesting question. I look forward to reading the answers. Squats are pretty intense (perhaps more intense than what you are doing on the treadmill). So in my opinon this is probably ok. Do you take long breaks between reps or exercises when doing your conditioning workouts? If not, that probably explains it and it is…

That's fantastic! Thanks for sharing. I know I felt scared at first too. I find people either do not see you or are impressed that you are there and are working out so hard. I have actually had people come up to me to tell me how great I am doing and how seeing me work out so hard inspires them.
-
Being fit includes adequately fueling your body not just losing weight. While your dedication is inspiring I will not congratulate you for doing something potentially dangerous to your body.
-
I think your diary looks pretty good. If you work out a lot you may want to increase your protein but otherwise I think you are doing awesome!
-
Weight also plays into this and what you set your weightloss goal to be. My goal is 1lb per week. I weigh 185lbs. MFP give me approx 1400 calories On days I work out I eat closer to 1800-2000 (which is most days)
-
Welcome!
-
Congrats! It is such an awesome feeling when you accomplish something you never thought was possible
-
Think about it this way. If your goal is set at 1lb per week than MFP has already reduced your daily by 500 to reach that goal. So by gong over today you are ruining your progress for this week. I guess the question is can you live with that? Is it worth it? In my opinon for a special night out, an extra 500 calories isn't…
