http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1234699/logging-accurately-step-by-step-guide/p1 That post is definitely worth a read

Exercise is not required for weight loss provided you are in a calorie deficit. My first question, rather than asking what sort of exercise you can do is are you being 100% accurate with your logging? I will try and find a link to the post you really need to read on here for that. But logging accurately means, weighing all…

Maintenance will generally be in a range of +/- say 5 lbs so the scale is going to move around a bit in any case. You will also gain a little when moving from a deficit to maintenance due to your glycogen stores replenish. If your weight was consistently creeping up every week, but if you were bouncing around then you were…

Maybe you could just go out and enjoy yourself, while watching the portion sizes. One day every now and then won't do too much damage, apart from maybe a gain in water weight from higher sodium. If it really worries you maybe drop your cheat day next week to compensate for having a great, stress free evening with your…

Change what you eat, try the 80/20 method with 80% of your calories coming from nutrient dense filling foods and the 20% from whatever you enjoy/crave. I find protein and fibre are the two that keep me feeling fullest. I find a berry/yoghurt combination fills me up at breakfast or fruit with a bran based cereal. Lots of…

You would have to manually change them each time I guess. Does sound like a particularly complicated way of eating and can't see what advantage it would have over eating a reduced calorie nutrient dense diet
-
Its a basic bechamel sauce, the easier way is to melt the butter then stir in the flour and cook out. Then slowly add the milk while whisking to avoid lumps forming
-
Always, that way I know that I can fit it in to my daily calorie allowance
-
Are you trying to eliminate sugary & salty foods from your diet currently because this can lead to craving. Look at this as a complete change in your lifestyle rather than a short term diet and find a way to that is sustainable for you. A lot of people talk about the 80/20 rule where you eat 80% of nutritious foods, fruit,…

Of all the awful changes made to this site recently they still haven't added a like button! Fantastic post
-
In the UK they can be purchased from any supermarket and are not normally over £15.00 not sure about the US though but can't see it being much different
-
You should be weighing the food on a digital food scale and selecting the appropriate food from this database, accuracy is the key here
-
If you are in a calorie deficit then you will lose weight, however you only started using this app yesterday so if you are weighing/measuring everything you eat and selecting accurate entries from the database then this will work for you. With the small amount you have to lose creating a large deficit to rush this will…

I lost my first 42 lbs just following MFP's recommendation for a 1.5 lb per week weight loss. Reduced my goal after that to 1 lb per week and started exercising for my health, using an HRM and eating back the exercise calories less an adjustment for my NEAT and continued to lose at a pretty steady rate close to my goals

Still warm and absolutely loaded with melting butter mmmmmmm

How much damage can you really do in 2 weeks? I am off on holiday for 2 weeks myself and will be eating, drinking, swimming and walking. I would consider it a bad holiday if I wasn't looking at having to lose an extra 5 or 6 lbs when I get back. Try to make the best choices you can and try to moderate your portions but…

Bumping because the star does not seem to be working at the moment!

Agree ^^ if its not a raw food direct from the USDA database I recommend always checking what the site says against the packaging as well. Also a lot of people take the barcode scanner results as gospel, but again you are often taken to completely inaccurate member entries Its a minefield out there :-)
-
It may be, not sure because I am from the UK and don't use that term. However the breast or thigh only entries all start "chicken broilers or fryers" just select the one you want from the list that comes up
-
The chicken one stumped me for a bit because they have renamed it as chicken broilers or fryers raw without skin. If you search with the key words Chicken broilers raw you should get he USDA range of options
-
Unfortunately is really only down to how much you eat. Set yourself a calorie deficit, accurately weigh what you eat and stick to it. You might be one of the lucky ones where the stomach reduces fairly quickly but it always seems that where we want to lose it most is the last place the fat disappears from

Do the same as I will be doing when in Greece this year, take my running kit and run early mornings providing hangovers allow, do lots of swimming and walking. If you are more comfortable looking for foods that you can estimate easily, nothing beats a Greek salad on a warm evening, fresh fish and grilled meat are a…

Always weigh when you can because it will give you the best accuracy. Unfortunately there is lots of inaccurate entries on the database here and I found that the barcode scanner also takes you to member entries as well. I know its a pain but once you have scanned an item checking the nutrition data against the package is a…

When you say you track your food, do you mean that you weigh everything with a digital food scale?
-
This within reason, what you are looking to do is create a calorie deficit and that is often difficult to do eating our standard diets. Add in some nutrient dense filling foods, lean protein sources and foods high in fibre work for me in that respect. I have a new found love of fish, fruit, vegetables, beans and pulses and…
-
Unfortunately that is true, it seems that a lot of the entries have had their names changed recently and when you enter Banana for instance the unstarred version doesnt seem to appear at all. A synical part of me wonders if the search function works better on the paid for version of the site?
-
Scanning only takes you to member entries these days so there is no guarantee of accuracy unfortunately and the USDA entries seem to be member entries as well. Use the entry with no * because that is an MFP site entry and should be more accurate, otherwise look for the ones with the most confirmations

Close to Bristol but originally from just North of London

This but unfortunately it is so difficult to convince someone to change their thinking. The body can only metabolise so much fatty tissue and large deficits lead to a higher loss of lbm and the result they achieve is unfortunately not what they were looking for. Suggest they research VLCD's further, especially the…
